What are you getting your TWEEN DD for Christmas?

I ordered my 10yo niece a subscription to Muse magazine. I found a coupon code that brought the price down from 33.95 to 19.95 and includes both paper & digital. I also ordered a back issue to wrap as subscription will start in Jan. Only problem is the digital subscription starts nowinstead of Jan.

I am so stinkin' excited! My daughter had only ONE thing she REALLY wants for Christmas - the new IPOD Touch 5th Gen 32g. Now, we are in the process of paying off some heavy debt this year (we're doing GREAT!) so I have set a budget of about $300 per kid (we have 3). I explained to her that if she wanted the IPOD that was literally going to be almost her only present (maybe some inexpensive supplements) and she was ok with that.

Well, I've been SCOURING Craigslist literally multiple times daily for the last few weeks hoping to come across one....and FINALLY I found one today!

Literally in pristine condition, pink leopard case (exactly what she wanted - what are the odds?) for.....$200!!! My husband called immediately and met them tonight. He had to drive about 45 mins to get it, but I think it was worth it. :upsidedow It was a young couple at college - she bought the Ipod, and her parents bought her an Iphone almost immediately after so she claims to have only used the Ipod maybe twice. :goodvibes

I am soooo happy - she is going to do a serious happy dance on Christmas morning - I can't WAIT!!

:santa:

That is exciting! Glad your hard work paid off. We follow Dave Ramsey and he helped us get out of debt 8 years ago.

Minnie- no other accessories "needed." I just found a bundle, on ebay. Case (what I wanted) pkus a screen protector, stylus, car charger, wipe, etc. Nothing that was necessary, but it was only $13 for the bundle.

Thanks : )

Just when I think I'm just about done shopping for DD 10 she wants to drop some items from her list ( that I already bought) and add on patterns and fabric to make doll clothes. Guess I finally have to learn how to use the sewing machine that I got for Christmas 3 years ago lol.

UGGs (25% off at Garnet Hill), a monogrammed suitcase from Pottery Barn Teen (love that store), pajamas, a gift card to Gap, and roller blades.

Ok, here is what my DD11 is getting:
a Disney ELF Villians make-up kit ( she wishes she could wear make-up out ;) )
a three piece Vera Bradley make-up bag collection to match her purse
Nerf Rebelle Bow and Arrow
Conair 3/4" curling iron
To be bought: A monster high doll, bands for her loom, nail polish accessories, a dvd or two

That is all I have for now. She is also getting a microscope from her grandma. It got pretty good reviews on Amazon. She asked for one a few times, but for Christmas she hasn't really expressed an interest in anything. She is not very spoiled, and is generally happy with any gift. I honestly don't know that she will be getting too much more- she doesn't really need much!

DD10 wants everything, they are as follows:
Phone (not anytime soon)
Zebra print suitcase
Zebra print initial pillow
Zebra print mirror
Zebra print facial cleanser
(She's starting to get into Zebra if you can't tell)
Ever after dolls
Monster high dolls
Clothes
Scarf, gloves and winter knitted hat from claires/icing
Percy Jackson book series
Those new rubber band bracelet things
Frozen stuff (Disney's new movie frozen)
Build-a-bear gift card

For the longest time DD12 has been only asking for money and an iphone 5 (not happening) but over the weekend she gave me some ideas! yay :cool1:

Animal snood (got it, being shipped)
Rainbow loom bands (being shipped)

Her big gift she will share with her older sister is a digital piano keyboard

We will also give her a little money probably $20 to $25

and I am going to take all 3 daughters after Christmas to Brighton for one charm each and out to lunch

So far this is what I have planned for dds:

dd 12:
sweatshirt from dance studio
old navy jacket (knock off lulu lemon--she wanted that but was ok with other)--sister will give her this
makeup (eye shadow-wants Naked 2)
leg warmers and sweater for ballet
sweater and leggings from delias

dd 10:
sweatshirt from dance studio
pillow pet, lotion (sister will give her this)
nerf rebelle bow and smaller nerf rebelle shooter
new wallet that holds ipod and money/giftcards
newsies dvd

dd 10 wants a nook, furby boom, full house dvd set, crayola marker maker. She has a ipod touch which is 2 years old with a cracked screen. We also have 2 ipads for the family. She still wants a nook. Is it worth it? I don't know if she needs one or any of the things she still wants.

dd12 wants a book of coupons--one day with 2 friends at the mall, one movie with friends, etc. I thought of looking at getting groupons for her to use with friends.

They will mostly be getting gift cards from other family. I could mention some of dd 10 other things. THoughts on the furby boom, nook or marker maker?

Thanks

If you have a Nordstrom rack, my daughter picked out some fuschia bear paw brand boots for $22. they had a few different colors including gold. This was in the kids section available up to size 5

We do 4 presents (want, need, wear read)

DD almost 12 is getting:

want: Ipod touch (refurbed)
need: jeans
wear: mustache print swim cap
read: Kindle gift card

in her stocking she's getting: mustache necklace, Mickey watch, LED fingers (all the kids get them this year) and I need one more thing.

All the kids get new pjs on Christmas Eve and I still need to pick up hers.

Anyone interested Best Buy has their IPOD mini for $299, with $100 GC, I see alot of people saying they were getting them. That's the same deal as Walmart- without the waiting in line. ;)

I saw a zebra print bedspread and pillow sham set in the Target Black Friday ad. So, you may want to check it out. My DD is really into zebra right now. Before Halloween, I found a zebra shirt and zebra leggings at Walmart that match and are thin. My DD wears them for her pjs.

Yes, I think the Nook is a good buy and worth the money. On Barnes and Noble's website, they show that the Simple Touch will be sale priced 39.00 online tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day. The Nook HD will be 79.00 I think. That is the same price as Target shows they will have it for in their Black Friday ad.

The Simple Touch would be perfect for just reading novels, but it is black and white so, if she will be reading magazines and you want her to have Internet access, you should go with the Nook HD. It is a tablet and also an e-reader (but not one you can read in the bright sunlight outside.

The Simple Touch is a regular e-reader, and is not backlt so you can read it outside in the bright sunlight and it is better on your eyes if you read a lot.

I need a fun idea. I am trying to stick to $100 per kid this year. The 5 year old is easy, the 3 year old not so much but I am having a little problem with my 12 year old stepdaughter. So far we are getting her a magazine subscription, a giant chocolate bar, a movie, new sheets and a gift card for Rue 21. I need 1 or 2 more things but I am looking for something fun. Like something she will open Christmas morning and want to play/mess around with. She really just lives on her phone so I'm not getting a lot of ideas.

I'm going to sound really old fashion here, but I'd get the Full House DVD set. I really can't stand most of the new shows for tweens on tv today, they just seem overly silly and dramatized with no real lesson, value, or educational aspect to them. I really miss the older sitcoms that usually tried to teach some life lesson or something each episode. I'd love it if the kids were interested in Full House or any number of those old 90s sitcoms.

I also think the idea of a coupon book is great. It doesn't cost anything. It lasts awhile. It's not some toy to get broken or forgotten, and you would end up doing the stuff anyway at some point. Seems like a win win to me. You're basically just agreeing in writing ahead of time, to outings and "play dates", you would most likely agree to anyway when the time came.

My kids (DD15 and DS12) love Full House. We vacationed in San Francisco last fall, so the fact that's where the show is set piqued their interest. It comes on Nick at Nite every weeknight, as many as 4 episodes a night. We've been watching and recording it for over a year now. I'd forgotten what a great show it was. My kids also got a kick out of the Jesse and the Rippers reunion concert on jimmy Fallon.

Wow Nick at Nite. Now I really feel old. I remember when Nick at Night used to play I Love Lucy and other black and white sitcoms. Now it's shows that were on when I was a kid.

My 12 1/2 yr DD loves Full house as well, that's a great idea!

There is only one Hunger Games. And yes I let my 9 year old daughter read the books and see the movie. Most of her circle of friends have done the same. I read the trilogy and watched the movie before I let her read and watch. For my child, I thought it was appropriate and made for some great discussions. I don't want to highjack this thread with additional thoughts but I did want to answer the question because I mentioned buying hunger games items for my daughters.

The hunger games was one of the choices on the summer reading list at my kids school, for entering7th graders.
