What Are You Celebrating?? Air Conditioning!! A July 2010 TR UPDATE 12/11 p24

Great Cape Canaveral and beach update!! I so miss the ocean!! I loved living by the water!!! So seeing those pictures took me back!!!

Glad you guys had such a great time!!!

Enjoyed your beach arrival update and the NASA tour. What a nice picture of the 4 girls with the robot (is that what it is?). The beach looks wonderful and the suite overlooking the ocean sounds divine! The pool sounds amazing! Hope to see some pictures.

Great update Sheree! Sorry you got a little turned around and arrived later than you wanted to. I do not like feeling rushed at all. Your condo sounds awesome! Is it fairly reasonable in cost?

Someday we will also get to Kennedy Space Center. Looks very cool!

Your condo looks like a fun place to stay and play.....too bad about the play part...what is with the early curfew everywhere?!! :confused3
Love your pictures of the Space center...I am a space nerd ;) and have always wanted to watch a shuttle launch :sad1:
I don't know how I would feel watching cruise ships sail by and not being on any of them....especially if it was a Disney ship

Thanks Jen - the ocean is so beautiful - I really liked being right on it. Not sure I could live there, but for vacation it was great!

Yes, it was a robot! The beach place was terrific. I'm going to search for more pictures tonight. I know I took some!

Fun update! Love all the pictures from Kennedy Space Center! The beach looks so inviting right now!
I tell ya, I wish I were going to a beach right now too! It's miserable weather here - cold, icy, snow is coming again... It will warm me up to look at the beach pictures!

The good thing was I really didn't NEED to be there at any special time, but I just felt bad later when we had to run through the store! What a joke!

We didn't actually rent the condo. My SIL has a timeshare there and she had a week leftover from 2009, so she booked 2 rooms for one week this year and gave us one! I know you can rent them without owning timeshares there. The location can't be beat!! Great beach, close to Kennedy, the port...an hour from WDW!
Kennedy is cool - there's lots of neat stuff there even if you're not a space junkie!

Tracy
Yeah, we still found time to play on other days though!
My DH would love to watch a shuttle launch - we've just missed it a few times when they moved lauch dates. This condo would be a PRIME location to watch launches!
Watching the cruise ships did make me wish I was on one - even if it was summertime! Stay tuned for the DIsney ship we saw!!! I really really wanted to swim over to it! But of course I can't really swim well enough.

Ohhhh! I had to take another look at all your booty from the trip. You got some great stuff! I've made a few mental notes of some things I want to pick up as well.

I LOVE those glass frames from Murano! I've actually been to Murano and toured a glass blowing factory on my honeymoon. I got a necklace for Christmas a couple of years later from my kids. I  that stuff so I might just have to shop a little in Italy!! Good thing we have an ADR there...I'll have the perfect excuse to look around.

I really like the clutch. So cute!! I was lusting after that Mickey suitcase too. Of course I also cherish a secret yearning for a D&B bag, but the cheapskate in me will likely overrule that kind of purchase. You never know though...my recent weight loss success has definitely had an impact on my pocketbook. I find it harder to talk myself out of buying the things that I want because I really feel that I "deserve" them. :rotfl2:

I almost got a watch the first time we went to Disney but changed my mind in the end. I've been kicking myself ever since. I REALLY wanted that watch and for some reason I didn't bother looking for one this past trip. I'm going to shop for one this time and hopefully find one I really like.

I'm also hoping to find mickey shaped cookie cutters and an apron too!

I, too had to schlep around at Epcot looking for a bathroom on our last trip. There was reportedly one near where we were at the time that we couldn't locate so we went to the next nearest one which was closed so we had to go ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE FRONT ENTRANCE (from Test Track) just to tinkle. I was unimpressed, I'll tell ya...but at least the weather was fine!

Sound like you guys had fun at Kennedy and the beach! Can't wait to hear more.

Julie - I just ordered a D&B bag last night! They were on sale at DIsney shopping on line and for $15 extra you could get a cosmetic bag with the newer pattern - the mickey balloons. So I ordered the tan/brown mickey letter carrier bag. (they didn't have the sketch one in white that I oringinally wanted) With the sale and the 20% off they had yesterday it was about $67! So of course I got the $15 bag too! A bunch of them are marked down.

They also had a lot of ornaments for $5! So I got about 5 of them.
Funny thing is, I went online to get a tree topper for our Disney tree. I had an email about the sale, so DH told me to look at the bags. Like a good wife, I listened to my Hubby!! An hour later, I had ordered a tree topper, ornaments and a D&B bag!

After we get our tree (tomorrow is the plan) and decorate it, I will post pictures of the Disney tree.
I'm going to try to update this weekend.

This afternoon I'm taking the girls and Sarah's friend to see Tangled (not in 3D - I'm too cheap to pay an extra $3!).

:rotfl:

I just got home from seeing Tangled with the kids. I said the exact same thing...no 3D because I'm not paying an extra $12...of course the fact that DD doesn't like 3D movies made it easy to sell to the rest of the family.

Have fun, you guys!!

Can't wait to see the tree!

What a great update.:goodvibes Seeing the Space Center gives me ideas for future trips when the kids are older so I can keep convincing DH to go back each year:lmao: Luckily DH loves Disney as much as me:goodvibes

Drive by :drive: Hi....MEK

p.s. Love KSC!
Hey Mary Ellen!!

We enjoyed Tangled a lot, even without the 3D. Very cute, although I think the girl's eyes were just too big - reminded me of the Littlest Pet Shop toys!
We did get our tree today, and it's mostly decorated, but I have to wait for my topper and 5 more ornaments to come in before I post pictures of it!

The Space Center is really cool! Lots of fun things to do there and it's only an hour from WDW! Cocoa Beach is a nice area that's close too. I've been told there are better beaches, and I like the Gulf Coast too, but I think it may be farther away. Isn't it great to have a Disney-loving hubby?? We are very lucky!

On Tuesday, we stayed at the resort. We swam in the ocean in the morning. We bought the girls inflatable tubes (like $5) and they were “tube surfing” in the waves. The water was really shallow, but they loved it! At first, Paige was scared and we had to hold on to her and the tube. By evening she said, “I was born to tube surf baby!”

We spent some time at the pool and Sarah went down the slide a few times. It lets out in 3.5 feet of water, so it’s not too scary for her. We did the lazy river for a while too.
I found some pictures:

We went back to the condo for a LATE lunch of pizza. My BIL had ordered it at 1 and we got it at 2:20!!
At 4, we went up to the main building and the girls painted sand dollars.

We went to the beach again and saw my beloved Disney Wonder heading out to sea. Sniff, sniff, Oh how I wished I was on it!! We saw all the people waving.
Here she comes...

There she goes...

That evening they had a Hands on Wildlife show at the main building. This is a group that brings wild animals to the resort to hold and touch. We’re talking snakes, gators (baby), birds, tortoises, wild cats, and spiders. Some of us held some of them.
DSCN2505.jpg

Yup, that's a tarantula!!

and a snake!

I don't have any pictures of Sarah with the snake or tarantula because she was sitting with her cousin and my SIL. But I was told they took pictures.

At the end, you could pay to have your picture taken holding a couple of birds or some other animal. Of course, Sarah had to do this.

It was an interesting evening! Some lady sitting near me kept getting up and leaving the room when the snakes and spiders were brought near!

On Wednesday, we had originally planned to go back to WDW, but since our FL relatives were leaving to go home on Thursday, we thought we’d stay and spend more time with them. They did some shopping, and we headed south for a bit. We were headed to another Disney property - Vero Beach!! At the time, we’d never been there, never considered buying DVC there, but just wanted to check it out. It is beautiful!!! We had lunch at the restaurant - Shutters. It was really quite good. We had a wonderful server too! Very Disney! Here’s a few pictures:

Still looks better than my house!

A sign of things to come...Who knew?

There's a big deal to protect the sea turtles and their nests at Vero. Sarah and Paige thought this was SUPER cool!!

We got back to the condo at about 2:30, hit the pool for a while, and then got dressed for dinner. We headed over to my SIL’s camper, checked it out and we all went out to dinner at Sonny’s BBQ to celebrate BIL Steve’s birthday. It’s one of Dave’s favorite places to eat!

Back at the resort we did some mini-golf. It was the first time for the girls and they LOVED it!!!! We don’t have many mini-golf courses around here anymore, too bad, it’s a fun thing to do.
Tomorrow - MORE DISNEY!!!!! We go back to the world as non-resort guests!

I really surprised myself with holding the tarantula! It was crazy. Normally I'd decline, but hey, I was on vacation and living large!!! It was surprisingly light and just tickled a bit on my hand. The snake - definitely on the smooth, but scaly side.

Vero was really nice - I hope we get to stay there someday - since it is our home resort!

Tracy - Sonny's - they are all around down there. I think they have some in VA near my in-laws. We seem to eat at one on all our southern trips.

Watching the cruise ship go out was rough. I don't think we heard the horn - they sound that further in at the port I guess.

Thanks for the pictures of the pool at the resort. It looks like a fantastic place to stay- amazing pool, the ocean, the activities. My boys, especially Ben, would LOVE the wildlife show. He is into spiders and snakes and all that.

Vero Beach looks wonderful, too. Thanks for sharing the pictures and information with us!

I'm glad to hear there is more fun coming up!
