What are vegetarian shoes?

I was just looking at Zappos' website and they have a Vegetarian category under the shoes section. They don't look out of the ordinary or different in any way. Does anyone else know what the difference is?

No animals were killed in the making of the shoes.

Totally man made materials. No animal products used. I know many vegetarians who prefer not to use leather or similar products.
