What are the WORST things that have happened to you at Disney/Orlando?

Worst thing that ever happened to me in Orlando? One word, bootcamp! :rotfl2: I was in the Navy and went through bootcamp in Orlando! But hey, I made it, so I guess it wasn't all bad! :teeth:

Not that this excuses his behavior, but you are incorrect. For the vast majority of rides and attractions, wheelchair users wait in the same line as everyone else. There are a few exceptions, but wheelchairs use the regular line most of the time. There is no "front of the line" access for riders in wheelchairs. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that is the case.

Took a trip a couple weeks before Christmas in 2003. Had the worst flight down. It was delayed 4 hours and 3 of those 4 hours were spent sitting on the tarmac. Got down to Orlando at 1:00am and started feeling bad. Checked into the hotel at 2:30am. Woke up at 4:00am and threw up. Spent the next day in bed recovering from the stomach flu. To make matters worse, my younger DS was only 7 months old and stayed home with Grandma. I missed him terribly the whole trip. I decided there and then that I'd never take another Disney trip unless I had DH and both DSs along with me.

It was 1999 second day of our trip and DH came down with a horrible flu bug he could barely get out of bed. I'm was proud of him because later that night he sucked it up and went out with me. In 2002 I forgot all my makeup at home so in all the pictures I look old and tired. LOL! Thankfully, those are the worst things that have happened at Disney. We've been very lucky!

Actually handicapped parties DO NOT have priority in most lines and rides. They may be shunted off to another area but they still have to wait often longer than those who are in the regular line. There is often a limit on how many handicapped persons can be in a ride or show so you wait until there is space for you. Also if it is a ride with a handicapped car you end up waiting for that car. There is no advantage to being handicapped at WDW. In fact it can be a disadvantage at times.

On the first day of my first ever trip with DH(then DBF) I had what we know now was a massive gallbladder attack. I was bent over in agony for 7 hours and he didn't know what to do with me - just as I was getting ready to tell him to call 911 my pain subsided and I was able to rest and was fine for the rest o f our trip.

I suffered with undiagnosed gallbladder attacks for 7 years after that because I never had pain radiating towards my back so my dopey doctors kept trying to convince me it was just gas until they finally did the correct tests and realized what had been happening all those years. I was jumping for joy when they told me I needed to have surgery - they thought I was nuts - I was excited to never have to deal with that pain again - LOL!

3. MY IN-LAWS, UNINVITED, CAME WITH US

.... Oh, I'm sorry, were you expecting some sort of story here? Like this title really needs an explanation! Res ipse loquitor.

One quick anecdote: My wife and I don't live near any family. We both work full-time, get a babysitter maybe 4 times a year (each of our birthdays, anniversary, Valentine's Day) for our 2 pre-schoolers. The in-laws insist on coming with us to WDW. Do they offer to babysit for even an hour or two so we can get dinner just the 2 of us? What do you think?

Since these 3 things are the worst things that ever happened to me at WDW, I consider myself a very lucky and happy person![/QUOTE]

My in-laws live 10 minutes from us and NEVER offer to babysit. they stop by to "visit", get their fill and then leave until next month. Go figure.
'Loved the stories by the way- it would make a great trip report?!

I had my wallet stolen once. That was a horribly stressful situation. Fortunately, the wallet was later found at All-Star Sports (it was stolen inside MK, and we weren't even staying anywhere onsite that trip). The thief only took the money out of it, and didn't bother to take my credit cards, debit cards, or social security card (I know - stupid) with them. I put a credit watch on my information, just in case anyone tried to use my credit card numbers, or applied for credit, etc. in my name. Fortunately, it never happened.

Outside of losing a child at WDW, I can't imagine a more stressful thing in the happiest place on earth.

MANY YEARS AGO: My daughters and I were in EPCOT and we had just bought a few souvenirs. Sat down on a bench with the bag beside my daughter. All of a sudden some kid ran by took our bag and took off into the World Showcase.

ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO: Was coming over the bridge towards the Tree of Life and AK and stopped my wheelchair to take a picture. This Mom carrying a baby walked into me and fell on me. No sorry or are you ok. Just a dirty look for being where she choose to walk.

AT CANDLELIGHT PROCESSIONAL THIS YEAR: CM tried to refuse to let me sit where I could see the interpreters insisting that I could see the narrator just fine from the spot she choose to put me in. Have been placed there before and cannot watch the interpreter from there. Plus I choose not to stay in my wheelchair and to sit on the bleachers where I could see both the narrator and interpreter as they signed. WHat ever happened asking the guest their preference.

BUT THE ABSOLUTE WORST THING HAPPENED AT TUPPERWARE JUBILEE LAST JULY:
I had requested sign language interpreting well in advance and when I arrived there were no interpreters. I got a run around and was told first I should have requested them before hand (I had), told me there were none available ( there were since I was on AIM with one who is my friend), never provided any interpreters or alternative accommadation so I had no idea what was being said, was told I could lipread (sure from several 100 ft away from the stage and with the monitors not showing clear views of faces). To top it off I have never gotten an apology from Tupperware or any money back from my registration. I was not a happy camper.

Worst for my DD - not for my DS & DH....

We ate at Pinochio House for lunch on our 2nd day in MK. Something did not agree with my DD. Starting at night - she spent most of her time in the bathroom  - you get the picture. I, DW, was up all night. Needless to say - by the next moring - the 'girls' stayed in the CR room and the 'boys' went to MK and had a great day. Great pictures too - we missed the memories :guilty:

I did not know that CR has 'sick child get well goodie bags' - but she had some 'toys' she had won at the CR game room to play with. I wish I had known about the CR get well bags - she would have enjoyed some coloring pages while I took a nap.

Yes, you read that right. We were robbed while in Orlando for our Disney vacation.

They broke into our rental car, and took everything. Expensive camera. Souviners. Backpack. Clothes. Took it all while we were having dinner in a restaurant offsite. There were plenty of people around to witness, and it was still early. But no matter. They wanted it, and got it.

Not the best night in Orlando.

CARRY EVERYTHING ON YOUR PERSON! EVERYTHING!!!!!

I think the worst thing that ever happened to me on a trip, was actually when I was a CP.

I had gotten off work earlier and decided to get in a few rides before the park closed. I had just gotten off Space Mountain and was on the moving walkway. A group of kids pushed past me and headed up the exit ramp. They were stopped by another bunch of kids and that started a shouting match. Of course this was blocking everyone's way out so many got annoyed. The worst part was when one of the kids shoved an older woman and then proceeded to jump onto one of the kids that was with her. That's finally when security showed up.

Also I'm known as the ride jinx. Seems like about 1/2 the time rides break down when I am on them. I have had to walk off of TTA & Journey Into Your Imagination with Figment.

I got a horrible rash on my scalp, forehead and neck from a shampoo sample I got for free. I had never used the brand before but I don't usually react that way to anything. The rash was red and oozy. I itched so badly but was afraid to scratch and draw attention (and infection) to myself.

When I was younger I left my favorite stuffed animal at the hotel. I did not realize it till I got home. I cried so hard, a couple days later I came home from school and there was a fed ex package on my bed and The Grand Floridian Fed exed Sebastian to me :)
Wonder if I leave my older sister there with a sign saying no deposit no return stamp would they return her

In October 2004, DH and I did the Dolphin Experience at Discovery Cove. The next day, I had what looked like bug bites on my stomach, chest & back. I thought it was from the wetsuit, or sand fleas or something. So, for the rest of the trip it got worse & turned into an ugly rash. When I got home & went to the doctor, they said it was not from something that touched my skin, but from a virus. This virus causes a rash on your trunk (torso), exactly where I had it. I'm not positive, but I think it was from the snorkel I used at DC. So, the lesson learned was that if you ever put anything in your mouth, wash with warm soapy water first, even if they say it's sanitized!!! Luckily, the affected areas were covered by clothing, so I didn't scare anyone away at WDW.

If you would have pressed the issue they would have moved you. I went with my 70+ year old grand mother, who is in a wheel chair and a few times they tried to screw us over. My favorite was we had reservations at that buffet place in AKL. There was 10 of us and they tried to put us in a table that was round and only had room for about 8 people
Another was when she was trying to get out of Mission Earth the conveyor belt was stopped but the ride was moving and she was having trouble getting out and they refused to stop the ride. So I took out my camera and hit the record button to get it on camera, kind of funny how helpful they become when you get evidence of them.
Overall it was nice. I just did not like the way they treated handicaped people though
On the fun side the people who liked to cut in front of the wheel chair I learned that the 2 bars that jut out for the leg rest are great tools for sniping someone in the back of thier foot. I got some great looks for doing this, but they should have been watching where they are going

This was Orlando and other places in Florida. Our first real vacation, 1987, we had been married 2 years. We live in central Illinois. In the Sunday Chicago Tribune we saw an advertisement for a cruise that we could afford. This was back in the days before internet so we had a local travel agent check it out and book it for us. He checked and said it is legitimate, but warned us that it was NOT going to be the love boat. I think it was the Vera Cruz or the Vera Cruz line, it sailed from Tampa. We knew it would be small and nothing fancy, but we would get to see Mexico.

We were so excited. Hubby bought a spiffy new suit, I bought a spiffy cocktail dress. We combined the trip with a visit to Disneyworld and after that planned to stay at relative's winter home. Free lodging, near a beach. We would see hubby's cousin and her family for just a day, they would be finishing up their visit to the house as we were arriving.

We drove to Clearwater to spend the night. I INSISTED on staying at a hotel on the beach. I insisted on a higher floor so I could get a picture of the sunrise. We got the last room in Clearwater and paid top dollar. Crappy hotel. Room had a broken ac unit but it did have the balcony I insisted on. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant. We had a waitress that was apparently going through a breakdown of some kind. Nothing that we ordered was brought to us. Same story with everyone around us. All of the people our poor waitress was serving ended up in line to pay at the same time. While we were comparing notes (good naturedly, we all could tell this girl was in a miserable place in her life) the waitress flies into the room and proceeds to scream at all of us, just a tirade of swear words that I don't even remember. Any way, by then the AC had been fixed in our room. I set the alarm to get up and take a picture of the sunrise. I opened the balcony door and encountered a fog bank so thick I couldn't see 5 stories down. I couldn't see beyond the balcony. I could hear the water, that's it.

Now all we needed to do was navigate across the causeway and head to where the boat was. First try, went wrong way and ended up headed right back across the causeway in Clearwater again. Tried two more times, third time was a charm. We are extremely nervous and agitated at this point. We get close enough to see the boat but are now under a bridge on a road blocked by construction. Drug dealers are in front of us. It's a not a good place to be. We eventually got to the boat.

Now for the cruise story which we call The Cruise to Nowhere. We waited 3 hours. They instructed us to get in lines by name and by dinner seating. Hundreds of people are in neat little lines, totally organized. After another hour or two of delays the announcement finally comes that due to a problem with the boiler the cruise has been canceled. Pandemonium erupts. We are given 3 choices; a full refund and leave, a trip on another boat at another time, or we can stay on the boat overnight while docked, get a free dinner and complimentary cocktails, and also get a full refund. We had nowhere to go so we decided to stay overnight on the boat and leave the next morning after we could consult with our travel guy and he could help us.

All of the neat little lines are gone and there are two more hours of chaos while every single person has to be processed all over again. Our luggage has all been put on the boat, then all taken off, and is now in a huge room that we get to visit a few people at time so we can find all our pieces ourselves. It took a while to find all our luggae, it was in no particular order. My big suitcase which was in perfect shape the last time I saw it now is wearing a huge orange banner that says DAMAGED UPON BOARDING. The banner is covering a big hole that has been punched through. We get our luggage and find our room. Room is a very generous term. This ship is old. The room is tiny. My DH's bed is slanted at an angle, he will be sleeping with his feet elevated above his head. The porthole is inches above the waterline. I am freaking out that when I lay down, I will be underneath the water. DH sees a cockroach but does not tell me until we are on land again.

We have a lovely dinner, in our lovely fancy cruise dinner clothes. At that point, all of our shipmates proceed to get snockered with the free booze that is meant to soothe all those bad tempers. We don't drink, so we watched a movie in the little movie theater and went to bed. The next morning I get up very early and attempt a shower in the cozy bathroom. Remember that boiler problem? That would translate to No Hot Water. I wake up my DH and say let's hurry up and get off this ship before all the hungover people wake up and realize there is no hot water. The ship was probably scuttled to the bottom of the ocean shortly after this.

Now our travel agent suggested we leave our reservations alone and visit Disneyworld at the end of our trip as we planned. So we are now going to rendezvous with cousins at the free place. Instead of us each staying there alone, we will all be together. It's a big enough place, we get along with the cousins fine, this should be o.k. As we are getting settled in with them that is when the cousin announces that she is weaning their 9 month old baby off the bottle. Cold turkey. For those of you who have gone through this experience it is not fun, for the baby, or for anyone else living in proximity to this baby. We would go out to dinner and the poor baby would see another child with a bottle and wail. She wailed at night. She wailed in the morning. She wailed at naptime. She wailed when we went anywhere in the car. Our nerves were shattered. It was time to move on to Disneyworld.

We stayed at what was once the Delta Court of Flags. No idea where we even were or what it is called now. We got into the room and honestly we were both sufferering from shattered nerves and wanted nothing more than to relax and enjoy the rest of our vacation. For some reason I wanted to move the night stand. In doing so I managed to drop the night stand squarely on my toe, smashing the nail and bruising it badly. I will now have to limp through Disneyworld with a smashed toe and in something other than my comfy tennis shoes since I can not have anything touch my bloody toe. We head to one of the many hot tubs to relax. There is a man floating there face down when we climb in. He stays face down for a very long time. Longer than either of us can hold our breath. We are just climbing out to go call 911 when the guy finally comes up for air. Darnedest thing we've ever seen. We did have a great time at Disneyworld, but the other part of the vacation was truly a shambles and we have many good laughs about it now.

The other part of it that we laugh at is from the time we left our home until the time we returned we had only 3 meals that were good with good service; the one on the ship, a nice meal at Epcot and a Denny's on the way home. We tipped the waitress $10 we were so grateful to be treated well. Every other meal, no matter what state we were in, breakfast, lunch or dinner, was a disaster. It was as if we were cursed.

Staying at a horrible off site motel and DH getting food poisoning. I had to take 3 kids to the parks alone!!!!!
