I have a res for 9/13-21, staying GWGV at CR with the MM package. I would love, love, love to stay in the Tower, I don't really care whether it's TPV or MKV. I wonder if the RO discount for my time frame would be high enough to allow me up to upgrade room categories without spending a fortune? I read somewhere that the discount may only be 20%, which is about what I got with MM. Why wouldn't it be 30%, as it is with the other deluxes? Not sure if there's really even a question in this post, lol, just wanted to commiserate and wishful think with others.

What room categories are offered, as well as how much the discount is, depends on how many rooms of each category Disney needs to fill. Sometimes all the CR rooms are discounted at 20% or 30%, but sometimes GW and tower BLV are 30% and TPV and CL rooms are only 20%. If a category is selling out at rack rate, Disney will see no need to offer that particular room type at a discount (or may offer it at a lower discount). I have seen the same thing for AKL. AKL standard and pool view rooms are often offered at 30%, while savanna and CL rooms are only 20%. Those 2 rooms types are very popular so they tend to book up faster, with Disney not needing to discount them as much as the others.
