When I booked our december vacation I asked some family members if they wanted to go all declined for various reasons - suddenly my BIL and his family(5 in all) are very intersted in going - this would make it 9 people so we would need a 3 bdrm - which I would prefer - but if there are none available - could we try for a 2 bdrm - 2 of the kids are 4 yrs old although I know the max occ is 8 - and I don't want this to turn into a occupancy debate I just want to try to accomadater my family?????? What do you all suggest?

Since chances are slim on getting a GV, you are right to have a back-up plan. Depending upon how many points you want to spend, you can do 2 studios, the 2 bedroom or a one-bedroom and a studio. You could do 2 one-bedrooms if you want to give everyone privacy and a splurge. ;)

It appears that DVC does let "1" extra slide with the caveat of not supplying any bedding.

Only you know how much "togetherness" you can all stand. If being a little crowded works then go for it. If it would be better to have a little "space" go for two seperate villas.

Unless you booked a 2BR already for a trip this December, I think the question of 9 in a 2BR may be moot. I'm pretty sure that there are alread waiting lists for most of the month. If you already have the reservations, let me misquote Jiminy Crickett: "Let your conscience be your guide."

Since no one wants this to become an occupancy debate...
