What are the chances FD will be

I think at this point...most people are just happy that it was offered for aug to Oct....but I'm with you..free dining in Dec would be great.....we have our second trip scheduled for then.. our first is in aug..with free dining ;)

When you have to plan meals 180 days in advance, I sure wish the discounts would also be out that early.

I would love to see it extended!

Last year was the only time there has ever been a free dining offer for the general public in December, so who knows?

Just a waiting game now!

I agree!

So, anyone heard any rumors about what the October-December discount might be?

So, anyone heard any rumors about what the October-December discount might be?

There are tons of rumors floating around; no one knows exactly until it is announced.

My feeling is that it will not be extended, because Iger already said this year, there would be less discounts. It was only extended for just one year - last year.

The economy is bouncing back and I think Disney will be watching it closely, but if they did, it might be late in the year, if they need a last ditch effort to fill rooms.

That being said, I hope they don't extend free dining to that time period.

I go the week after Thanksgiving every year, and last year was a nightmare, between the 4/3 deal and the FD extended..... the resorts were more crowded and the restaurants were too.

I would love the FD in Dec. DH & I have our 20th anniversary trip/dis cruise. Even the QS would be fine../:flower3:

I had free dining in December in 2008. You are right though...I don't think it was a GP offer. I think I got it through my Disney Visa. I'm hoping it happens again this year!!! :goodvibes

October is the beginning of Disney's fiscal year. I dont think thy are going to start out their new year with deep discounts.

My guess, as worthless as it is, is that there will be a room % discount Oct - Dec, smaller than the one just offered..maybe 10/20/25 or a kids stay and play deal.

Depends entirely on Disney's assessment of the economy and bookings. I was very surprised when great room rates were offered last minute right during spring break for the northeast.

It looks to me like Disney is trying its hardest to stop the discounting. Whether they'll be able to, or not, remains to be seen.

2008 we went in December with Disney Visa PLUS room discount. Last December we went with free dining (General Public, I believe). For 2010 I booked with the 30/35/40 and will compare to free dining if it is announced. I am sure there will be an announcement for some type of deal for at least the first half of December. Last year it didn't come until fall. Be patient!

I wonder about free dining the first week of November. Has it ever been offered? We are currently booked at CBR for this week but are thinking of switching to WL for the last week of September with free dining and we'll pay the same as if we went in November with no discounts. Have to figure out if we can switch our plane tickets!

That is correct, it was only for Disney Visa Card holders and for very select dates and not for the general public.

Chances are 95% that they will offer FD like last year. Disney is addicted to special offers. Because we have been to WDW so much in the last several years, the only way we would go again is if FD is offered. I guess we are addicted to the special offers too. :goodvibes

The economy hasn't improved much at all, so I think we have a good chance that free dining, or at least a good discount of some sort will be offered into November and December. Disney has a lot of resort rooms to fill, giving people free dining or discounts to fill rooms is better than not filling those rooms at all.

Remember that the surrounding hotels/resorts around Disney are very competitive price wise and want your business. If Disney wants to survive the recession, they'll have to stay competitive and play ball. ;)

I so agree with you! Without FD or some kind of room discount, most people, including me, just can't afford a Disney vacation. I feel confident Disney will spread some love:wizard: for us wanting to travel after Oct.2, this is a slow period for them.

Last year FD was offered to the public also. I did get a pin for it last year, and went in Nov. I am hoping they do extend FD into the rest of Oct., I also think they will. It problaby wont be until the beginning of June or later.

Less than 5 months until it go to Disney.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but I have never done FD before. If I make all my dinner ressies and then they offer FD(and I call to get it), do I lose my dinner ressies and have to try to book them again?
