We changed our reservations from SSR to OKW because of all the negative comments. Just didn't want to take a chance on SSR at this time. BWV and BCV were all booked up. We're traveling with two teens so didn't want them to be too far away from the action. OKW is our home resort and we do like it, but the girls prefer BWV. Hopefully they'll be happy at OKW. Would like to here what buildings do you recommend and why?

Thanks

It really depends on what is important to you and your family, and what type of accomodation you'll be staying in. If you'll be in a studio, and will need to use the laundry facilities, I'd reguest to e near a pool (each pool area also has laundry facilities at OKW). If you're looking to be within a convenient walk of the main check-in area and restaurant, either bldgs 11 to 14, 62, 63, 64 or the buildings in the "Peninsular Road" cluster would be good.

If you want to be near a bus stop, be sure to request that.

While I don't normally have a preference as to "views" at OKW, I recently returned from a stay in a studio (2826), and while the location was convenient to the restaurant and general store (a nice walk, not too close) the view from the balcony was probably the worst I've ever had at OKW. However, the view from the front windows was nice, we could see the road and the waterway, so we could watch the boats come and go. Also the parking was very convenient at this building.

Since OKW is your home resort, you are already somewhat familiar with the areas that are available. Since we almost always travel with a car, we really have no major preferences.

We like the Southpoint area. There's a quiet pool close by, you're close to the walkway to DTD, and farther away from the hustle and bustle of the main area.

It seems as if none of the studio views at OKW are all that great. As for 1 BR, although I've never stayed in Miller Road area, it seems people say there are some lovely views there. And Buildings 17 and 18 seem to be pretty convenient to the HH. Chuck S, could you please tell us a little more about the view in 2826, just wondering if there was something special you didn't like (like our last studio overlooked air conditioning units).

What size room are you staying in, if it is a 2 bedroom most of the views from the 2 bedrooms are great. If none of you have walking problems any area at OKW is great, all are close to one pool or another, and all are near a bus stop. I have stayed there 17 vacations and never asked for a location, I believe they are all great. I assumed you asked for smoking or non-smoking. Staying at OKW or SSR are about the same right now, because there is no pathway to DD right now, so that about makes things equal. The room sizes are very large at OKW. Now as far as pleasing teen-age girls well I wish you luck, if you get them on the wrong day, they can be like Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hide. Getting to and from anywhere is going to be about the same whether it is OKW of SSR. They are on the same block and street. If you want to use the pool at SSR you might want to stay at the South Point area of OKW, it is the shortest walk to SSR

Thanks for your help. You're right about teenage girls! You made me smile.

Thanks again
Linda

Actually, the a/c units were off to the side, but within view. The new units run much quieter than the old ones, so they really weren't an issue. But the view from the balcony was like a hollow spot in the landscape. The ground was barren, covered with cypress needles and cones, but no cypress trees in site. It looked liked the greenery had been removed at some point in the past and never replaced. I don't mind a wooded view, if there are actually trees and shrubs. There was just nothing at all. And by the faded color of the needles, it had been this way for quite some time. Like I said, a view doesn't make or break a location for me, but I've never had a completely empty spot before.

We stayed in building 28 once, 2825 I believe, and it was the worst view of our 5 OKW stays. After that, I started requesting water view, that way I knew I wouldn't be looking at trees. Our best views were water views from 31 & 43.

I agree. We had a 2 bedroom first floor in 29, and it was totally hemed in with trees. We couldn't even see the golf course. The second bedroom was right near the road, but our guests said it was not noisy at all.

As Disney Doll said (many times):p We prefer South Point also. I love the views from 55. We have also been in 56, 52, and 53. Some complain about the views in those last two. I think 55 is my all time favorite. We love the views from some of the Miller's Road units as well. Building 20 has a great water and golf course view.
