We get a beach towel for each child (they pick the pattern).
About $20 each at World of Disney. Have them shipped home.
The towels are nice and plush. They seem to last for years and do not collect "dust". A great way to know your towel at a pool too
We give each child $100 to spend on what ever.
We pay for the resort, food, water bottles, the autograph book and beach towles above.
As our kids get older, they only spend about $40 dollars of it and pocket $60 for their bank account.
It seems to have taught them only to buy items which they will use. Not items which are cool at the time and useless when at home.
A frew items for older children -

DS likes the music store and
Lego store in DTD.

DD likes to create herself a charm bracelet at the little shop between, Furture World and World Showcase in EPCOT.
Again, they both spend much less than the $100, and use their WDW items when they get home.
