What are penalties for cancelling?

I am hoping someone with first hand knowledge on this can help!?

We are planning on booking a package (room, tkts and hopefully FREE DDP :) ) for september at POR. We are also in the process of trying to sell our house. IF our house does infact sell with in this time frame, we will NOT be able to travel for various reasons.

#1 Does anyone know what the cancelation penalties and or fees are?

#2 Does purchasing insurance cover any of this if we need to cancel? b/c it wouldn't be b/c of illness, death etc.

I have been scared to book b/c I just don't know if we WILL be able to go, and don't want to loose out on any$$.. My understanding is if I have a ROOM ONLY rate/ressie than I have up to 24hrs or something like that to xnl?
But if Free DDP comes out than we will have to do the package, and just not sure how that would work with cancelling.

any help info feedback would be great! TIA :)
 
Packages:

You may cancel 45 or more days away from your trip with no penalty. After day 45 you lose 100$ and after day 6 I think it is.. you lose 200$.

Room Only:

Up to day 6 before you arrival you may cancel with no penalty. After day 6 you lose your first nights deposit.

I think that's right.

You can also lose the remainder of your trip if you leave while at Disney (although you can save your tickets by adding the NE).

There is a $50.00 change fee under 46 days, and I think under 2 weeks changing will also incur a $10.00 new document fee.

You can modify a room-only with no penalty under 6 days.

There are specifics if you buy insurance (which will be a non-refundable $59.95 for each adult), as to what you can file a claim for. Sickness, death in the family, etc.
 
I am A huge FAN OF Travel trip insurance. You can get quotes at insuremytrip.com The cost of the insurance is based on the cost of your entire trip and there are various policies--some cover canel for any reason. Check the pre-existing condition criteria too since it varies with different policies.

A credit card deposit must be received within 14 days of booking or the reservation will be automatically cancelled on the 15th day. Final payment is due at check-in upon arrival. (Depending on your arrival date, the deposit requirements may vary.)

Cancellation Policy:

In order to receive a full refund of your deposit, notification of cancellation must be received at least 6 days prior to your arrival date. To cancel or modify an existing reservation, contact your Travel Agent. The cancellation and refund policy is subject to change.

Rate Revisions:

Room rates are guaranteed as long as your reservation is not changed.

For reservation information and modifications PRIOR TO ARRIVAL, please contact your Travel Agent.

Reservations are not transferable, and the guest for whom the room(s) or package(s) are reserved may not be changed.

Package Terms & Conditions

Package Rates:
All rates are subject to change until package is paid in full. After package is paid in full, rate is subject to change due to imposition of taxes or other charges of governmental authorities. All rates are in U.S. dollars.

Package Booking Procedures:
Package reservations are not accepted until confirmed by confirmation number. Package features for all plans are subject to change and may be based on features available at time of arrival, not those in effect at time of booking.

Package Payment Procedures:
A DEPOSIT of $200 per reservation must be received 14 days of booking or the reservation will be automatically canceled. FINAL PAYMENT is due 45 days prior to guest arrival. Bookings made 45 days or less prior to arrival must be paid in full at time of booking.


Package Cancellation & Change Fees:
For a cancellation made 44 to 6 days prior to arrival, there is a cancellation fee of $100 per package.

For a cancellation made 5 days or less prior to arrival, there is a cancellation fee of $200 per package.

For a change made 44 days or less prior to arrival or that results in a rate change, there is a change fee of $50 per package plus any change fees assessed. For changes, the change fees must be paid in addition to any increase in rate resulting from the change.


That about covers it I think.

thanks, I guess I need to figure out by the 45 day mark to avoid any charges....Is the $50 change fee per package, for one family or each person in the party? Thanks?
 
I believe the change fee is per reservation changed.

So if you are changing one reservation.. with 5 people on it.. That's 50$.

If you had two rooms or two package reservations.. that might be trickier.
