Now that BCV is opening up, are there any plans for any additional DVC resorts? If so, where would they be and when would they open? I don't suppose there are any plans for an Animal Kingdom DVC resort is there?

The next DVC resort will be a 192-unit development near Downtown Disney. This project involves tearing down part of the old Villas at the Disney Institute. Projected opening is Spring 2004.
Previously, there was an announcement of new DVC resort at the Eagle Pines Golf Course, east of Fort Wilderness campground. The projected opening date was Spring or Summer 2004. It seems this project is now on hold for an undetermined length of time, but there's no reason to believe the project is dead.
If the Downtown Disney location is limited to 192 units, chances are the Eagle Pines location will follow a year or so later. But it's also possible that Disney Vacation Development may build additional phases at the Disney Institute. There's a lot of room. Eagle Pines may be a long ways off in DVD eventually builds over a thousand units at the former Disney Institute site.
A future DVC Villas at Animal Kingdom Lodge resort seems unlikely. I think that if a DVC resort had been planned at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, the existing lodge would have been designed differently -- it just doesn't appear that a DVC resort is part of the master plan. Certainly the current African savannah at the AKL wasn't designed to accomodate views from a future DVC resort.
Thanks for the pointer to a great thread!
Admittedly Disney could build a whole bunch of units at DI, and many more at Eagle Pines, but as that thread pointed out, selling them may be another matter.
Surely they must be giving some consideration to following up the success of BWV, VWL, and BCV? But where else could they build near parks? It's always fun to speculate!
-- There seems to be room near MGM for an independent DVC location. And if it's near MGM, it's not too far from Epcot.
-- I think it's just possible that there's enough room between Poly and GF to build a small Polynesian Villas DVC resort. The monorail would make it a tight fit, but I'll bet they could get 200 units in. There's no question in my mind that if a Polynesian Villas resort were built, it would sell like hotcakes.
Hi,
A Monorail DVC, that's my dream! I'd buy points there in a minute! Wouldn't it be wonderful? That's my only complaint about our current DVC proprties...I LOVE the Monorail!

There is a path between the Poly and GF that I went jogging on during a visit last Dec. At the time I wasn't thinking of Poly Villas so didn't bring my surveying equipment , but there is somewhere between a 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile of unused beachfront between the Poly and the Wedding Pavilion.
