What are my options??? Lost my selected stateroom due to travel agent error??

I would definitely expect more than $50 OBC as compensation. They should book you in a comparable room tot he one you originally booked and pay the difference.

Something similar happened to me... not with a travel agent, but a DCL cast member. I called to have a 4th person added to my parent's stateroom. The cast member cancelled their reservation and rebooked a different cabin without mentioning to me. Evidently, there was no room in the lifeboat for that 4th person, so a new cabin had to be selected. They are no longer next to us. Also, I had them checked in online and all of their excursions selected. All of that disappeared. PLUS- we were all on main dining. Since the cruise was sold out (thanksgiving), they were now on second seating!!! It became a brand new reservation!

I had to recheck them in again (a much later PAT than us - Thank God I took the Disney Transfers, so they will be let in the terminal with us), and rebook all their excursions. When I called back to complain (I only realized this AFTER I checked our ressies on the Disney site), they told me about the lifeboat situation ( I would have switched cabins anyway to get that 4th person in), and had guest services work on getting us all back together on main dining... which they did.

I just felt frustrated all my plans were screwed up. My kids are upset they are no longer next to their grandparents, but I can't let it ruin my vacation.

Please let us know how it works out for you!!! Good Luck!

Bummer. I'm glad you were able to rebook your excursions before they were sold out.

I was PANICKED about that!!! We have a cabana too. Thank gosh it was booked under my room!!! I reserved the Kayaking on CC, and that is very limited. It all happened before "general check-in". I would have been so upset! Also, the 4th person added to the room was added at the higher price, but Oh well....

UPDATE*******

Just got off the phone with the TA and was told what had happened was they had called DCL to inquire about something on my reservation (and I did ask my TA to check on something on my behalf when I had made a payment on September 4, 2015) and somehow DCL canceled my reservation when that inquiry was made. So when I went to make a payment last week the TA noticed my reservation was canceled called DCL and they reinstated at the original price that I had booked at (over $1000.00 more now) but for whatever reason did not give me back my original room.

The good news is - The TA spoke with Disney today and was able to get them to reassign me my original room 6152 on the magic so now I'm happy and I got a $50 shipboard credit for my trouble.

I'm confused. If they canceled your original cruise and rebooked a new one, you would have a different DCL confirmation number than originally provided, wouldn't you? How did you log in to do your online check in if your original cruise was canceled and new one booked?

I believe it's possible to keep the same reservation number when doing a rebooking. As long as the "new" reservation and the "old" reservation are being handled at the same time.

Exactly, the old number will be used if done in conjunction. This is true when you call up and have your placeholder moved/assigned. The original number is still used.

Glad it worked out. Just had to push, I guess Disney, in this case. I bet whomever snagged your room (if it was booked by someone else) is getting a nice upgrade too!
