What are my chances

I have yet to make a ressie or resort ressie because my wife is having a hard time getting the exact vacation days we want from her job. We want to go Sat Dec 13th ad stay till the following Sunday. Just wondering what are my chances of still getting a table at Chef Mickeys, Hoop Dee Doo, Crystal Palace and other resturants?

Just wondering...I may go ahead and call and get ressies and just cancel if I have too

I can only tell you my experience - I called about three nights ago to reserve a Candlelight Processional dinner and there was plenty of availablity. I reserved Tutta Italia that same week that you will be there. I don't know about Chef Mickeys, etc.

Good Luck. You are going during Visa free dining and most of the TS meals are booked!! I would call IMMEDIATELY and see if there is anything. You can always cancel. Maybe you'll get lucky and get a cancelation from someone else.

The answers youll get here are best guesses. You should really call Disney Dining today and start asking for what you want. Go ahead and reserve everything you can get into, then cancel call back and cancel (please really do this) if you dont end up going.

What is Visa Free Dining? Seems to be a perk to having a Disney Visa?

I just checked for Chef Mickey for anything 12/12 to 12/16 and there was nothing. You have to just keep calling and hope someone cancelled. I was able to get Teppan Edi this way just last week. Just call multiple times each day. I know it is a pain but you will get some choices this way. Also create a spread sheet so you know what you have and when. I also plan my parks around where I am eating and vise versa. It takes some planning but it is worth it.

Well I was unable to get Chef Mickey's and Liberty Tree Tavern....The only 2 character meals I wanted....I did get Coral Reef...never eaten there...Also got my kids favorite Sci Fi...and I got Whispering Canyon...I might try to get Boma....

So the Disney Visa free dining is the reason for the full resturants? How does that translate to how crowded the parks will be?

I don't think it's just free dining that's causing all of the bookings, many people make dining reservations 6 months out and we are less than a month away from your vacation times. I'll be there 12/15 to 12/20 and the crowds are actually predicted at being the lowest of the month that week.

So you are saying the resturants are just full but not the parks...oh well there are a lot of counter service places I have not eaten at we can try....that will give us more time in the parks....

We made our vacation plans in September for last week. I called about mid Sept for our ADRs. I had a difficult time getting Hoop Dee Doo Revue, but did get it eventually. No problem at all with Crystal Palace for dinner. I wanted Chef Mickey's too, but couldn't get that at all. We also did the Princess dinner at Akershus in Norway, Epcot and had no problem with that, which I was surprised with. Keep checking back to see if you can get the ones you couldn't. You never know. You should enjoy Whispering Canyon, we liked it a lot.

I got Cape May for Dinner...wanted to try this...I was actually able to get the day and time I wanted....Not sure if thats a good or bad sign...

Still no luck with Liberty Tree Tavern....

Will these places take walk ups?

It is possible, but highly unlikely that you will get walk up. They do not "hold" a certain number of tables for walkups. They book everything based on an intricate formula.
If they had a table they would give it to you as an ADR.
But you never know. You may get lucky. Just don't count on it.

I am gonna keep trying to get an ADR but if not i might try and walk up to see if anyone cancels. Maybe there will be some no shows or cancels the day of....You never know right...

Yeah we have done Whispering Canyon before and really liked it so thats why we are doing it again....I really like O'hana's but the wife didnt care for it at all not even the veggie plate they bought her....I would love to do that again but wont put her through it again....although I will say the wait staff went above and beyond trying to get her something should would like....Kudo's to them for that

Keep trying for Liberty Tree. I was successful on 2 occassions and then let them go due to a change in plans. This was just this past week. I have a party of 4!
