Booking GCV @ the 7 month mark the week of Thanksgiving.

Some of the other dates we are tossing around are:

1. Presidents week - low points, but I hear it can be kind of rainy
2. Any week we can get during the summer months

We are going to skip a year of DW to bank enough points to stay at GCV for 6 ights (is that enough time?). We would love to be there to see the holiday decortions, but we are pretty limited as to when we can go because the kids are getting older and we don't want them out of school for more than a couple days.

The resort is so new (barely a year) and so small that it's hard to give any educated opinions. There will NEVER be dozens of rooms available at 7 months--it will always be just a handful at best and even then it's a question of how many match the room size you are seeking and how quickly you call to book.

Studios undoubtedly go first so One Bedroom and larger is your best bet.

We were able to add one weekend night to a June 2B reservation at about 6 1/2 months. That's my only experience booking at 7 mos. And it doesn't really say much about your ability to secure 6 nights in a row.

Sometime in the summer is probably your best bet. Start calling for the earliest set of dates you are willing to book and then you can always re-book for later dates as the 7 month window arrives if there is availability. Many SoCal schools do not get out of session until the end of June so the first 2-3 weeks of June are a great time to visit if you are able.

VGC for 6 nights is our usual trip ... would be a few nights longer if we had more points, as that seems to be almost enough to see as much of the parks as we want to and still put in some serious pool/jacuzzi time. The rooms are gorgeous but it doesn't have as much 'resort' stuff going on as the World does - community halls, etc.
Last year we tried to add another studio to our Columbus day weekend trip and failed - but did manage to add one night to the beginning of our 2 bedroom instead.
Keep in mind if you have your heart set on DLR for the holidays and not necessarily VGC there's always Paradise Pier and DLH with no $95 fee currently.

I'd think that there would be problems getting reservations during the holidays. Be flexible. I've made reservations at 3 months out for VGC, but not during a holiday.
