What are families traditions while at Disney?

Let's see, if my parents are with us- we have our first dinner at Cape May. Cocktails and crab legs, mussels and cornbread. We're always too stuffed for dessert and we do it anyway. Those oreo cookie little cake things..

First park-MK at opening, DS loves to catch the streamers and watch the train come in. We rush to Dumbo to get it over, unless DS decides on Buzz lightyear.

If we have an empty bucket of the carmel corn, we exchange it for new one. We always bring home a carmel popcorn for my dad.

We ride the "golfball" in Epcot., monorails, boats, etc.

MK is our last park, last day. Cinnamin bun at bakery .We never leave without stopping on Main Street for Mickey roni, Mickey pasta, mickey pretzels, and some pins!

As Ds4 gets older we discover new traditions.

Oh dear, I realize most of our tradtions invlolve food!! ;)

Since I usually drive all night to get to Disney, we go to the resort and check in for a quick nap and to unpack and freshen up. After that, we will go to DTD to do some shopping to get us into the magic. Also, on the way to Orlando, we stop off at the AAA Welcome Center in Ocala. We have done that for the last 6 trips.

I live in Ocala, and I am very sorry to report this, but the Disney welcome center in Ocala is no longer there... :sad2: :(

We have a last day tradition of lunch at The Plaza (plaza club and ice cream sundae) and then a ride around the park on the railroad before we head home. We spend the morning in the MK before this to wear the kids out so they'll sleep some of the trip back to SC.

We're not continuing that tradition when we go for Star Wars Weekends in 2 weeks.....we'll be spending the morning at Epcot instead and having lunch at the Garden Grill. Our last visit to The Plaza in January was rather disappointing and we're hesitant to return...though we know the whole issue was our server and its not likely she'll still be there (at least if she's always as awful as she was that day).

We also like to make sure we ride the monorail at some point...and the TTC in the MK (Peoplemover!).

Its always a great thing to drive through the big archway into WDW too. We're usually cheering "we're here! we're here!" or "we're home!" LOL Its been disappointing the few times we've come in a different way and not under the big "Welcome to Walt Disney World" sign.

Oh and I forgot one....whenever the opportunity presents itself we will get ice cream floats at the cart in Asia at AK and sit and eat them in the little soapstone temple up the path from there....its a favorite spot.

We always have a "Hat Day" We all shop for a new hat and then wear them for the day. It was the first thing we did on our first trip to WDW and now it is a tradition. We have acquired quite a collection of Disney hats! princess: pirate:

We always have our first dinner at LTT and our last dinner is there also. When we go in DEC we are going to eat there before MVMCP so we will have to eat somewhere else the last night. We eat at least one character meal every day.
We started taking pictures of the kids in front of Caseys at MK.
We also like to have LOTS of character pictures. We would go to MGM and hang out at the hat, but the last trip there wasn't as many characters as years past. We'll check it out in DEC.
DH and I always take one night to eat by ourselves and enjoy a park without the kids. MIL goes with us each time and she takes the kids to dinner and then they hang out in the room. It's great to get some alone time in. MIL is amazing. She takes care of all three kids and doesn't break a sweat.
We will be starting more traditions.

We can't go on any ride in MK until we've gone on Pirates. & we have a competition as to who can spot the first Disney Bus, sign, resort, park icon, ect.

I always set my cell phone alarm to go off at 8:30am then wake everyone up. Then in Magic kingdom we always must do The Jungle Cruise first. Start the disney day off right :goodvibes then when we go home at midnight we always order a pizza to be dilevered up to the room. Its not a complete disney trip without the midnight pizza...

Now, you have made me want to cry. I really enjoyed stopping there every year. Any knowledge on why it closed?

i love to sit in the front of the monorail! if i don't i feel let down somehow. i think it all started when some nice cast member gave us the opportunity- maybe when i was around 10 years old. so on every school trip to disney (i'm from florida, so there were many!) i would grab my friends and get us a spot up front. so much fun...i love feeling as if we're the first ones to see the castle! : )

On Arrival day night we will eat at Chef Mickey's. The first full day is always MK and Dumbo is the first ride, just want to get that ride over with but our kids are 2 & 6. We have to but a picture in front of castle every trip. We also like MK for our last night with wishes, but this trip night of joy will be there our last 2 nights. I have a picture of my DD who was 3 last trip sitting on the couch at Minnie's house so I will probably make sure I take a pic there of both kids now every trip. Also Mickey bar during share a dream come true parade.

We always eat at Liberty Tree Tavern. The kids always fall asleep....and we get the characters to ourselves. We get to goof around and the kids don't even know. We make all kinds of remarks during the trip to see if they can figure out what we did and said with each of the characters. The kids are now 6,11, and 12. They have come up with some doosies...............This year will be the 11th year going....Sad part is the reservationist told me this was our 11th year. I must have lost track..........

Our traditions seem to revolve around food. Our first night, we always try to eat at 'Ohanas. We try to time it around Wishes. What a magical way to start our trip. Then on our last day, we all order the Honey Sesame Chicken at Nine Dragons.

well it's not much but we arrive at night so we go to dinner after check in and then the next day we go to magic kingdom for the full day!

When I was a kid, our family tradition was to save all of Fantasyland for last. Then we would take the Skyway from Tomorrowland at dusk. The sky was always a lovely shade of lavender and the castle lights would just start to change colors. The sight was breathtaking, especially to this little girl! It truly looked like a fairytale. We would take tons of pictures of the castle and of Fantasyland below us. I was so disappointed the first time I went to MK and saw that the Skyway wasn't there anymore. :sad2: The new tradition is eating lunch at Cosmic Ray's, sitting outside by the castle moat whilst the afternoon parade is going on. Somehow, it just doesn't compare. ;)

We do quite a few things on a fairly regular basis, but traditions.......

Take a family photo on the fountain in France and have lunch at LeCellier on the day we leave (as long as our departure time works out).

DD and I love to eat at Chef Mickey's on our Animal Kingdom day.
I make us t-shirts with a picture of us and a character (normally pulto) which we will wear one day during our trip!

Our newest tradition (since it is just the two of us) is to not invite anyone else on the trip. This makes it some wonderful time for just the two of us to bond and we get do what we want when we want without worrying about other peoples plans. Also I get to spoil her since often I have to tell her no while we are at disney I get to tell her yes more!!

Here are some of my traditions:

1) Making MK my very first stop. :cheer2:

2) Having a Casey's hotdog, while sitting outside listening to Jim play the piano, while looking at the Castle and people watching. :Pinkbounc

3) Having a cheeseburger with mushrooms while sitting outside at "my" table at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. :bounce:

4) Sitting on "my" bench at the UK garden while just having some good God time to stop and say, "Thank you Lord for all You do and all You have given me". :)

5) Shopping at The Emporium (MK) and Mouse Gear (EPCOT). :thumbsup2

We change things up occasionally, but for the most part we eat at San Angel Inn the first night and walk by the flamingos standing outside. :)

Some "must-dos":
Wedway People Mover (Tommorrow Land Transportation Authority)
Spaceship Earth
Stand underneath the "Dancing Lessons" window on Main Street. If you have never done so you should try it!!! ;)
Visit Tom Sawyer's Island and take pictures of our boys in the fort

I have to ride the monorail first. The last time I was there, I stayed in the Boardwalk Inn, and something just didn't feel right, so I walked through Epcot passing all the rides and got on the monorail. Only then was everything right. :>
