What are families traditions while at Disney?

Well, a few years ago when we went for the first time in a while - my middle son was about 5 or 6. He was really into trains and every single time we saw a monorail he got VERY excited and pointed and yelled "Look! A Monorail". He sometimes said it over and over if we saw more than one right after the other. :) So now that the kids are all a little older, we still do it as a tradition when we get to Disney - the first time or two we see a monorail, we all point and say "Look! A Monorail"! :goodvibes

Also, each time we go to Disney or go on a DCL cruise, we buy and poster or print from the cruise or a park. Then we come home and have them all framed alike. So our guest room is decorated with Disney posters and prints of all sizes, types.

We always have our first meal whether it's lunch or dinner at tony's town square in the MK and then take a picture surrounding the statue of goofy tipping his top hat.

We always eat at LTT (love the pilgrim feast :thumbsup2 ) and on our last night go to Pin Traders in DTD and let the kids pick out a new pin for their lanyards.

A new Mickey Mouse hat with the kids name, Mickey ornament with our name and date, an autograph book and the photo album with the year for all those photos.

The Magic Kingdom must be our last park before going home.

On the last day of our trip we must go to Magic Kingdom. First we have breakfast at Crystal Palace. Everyone in the family gets to pick two rides, a must do and a want to. We have to ride everyone's must do, even if it has a huge line. Then we ride everyone's second choice. Also any ride we walk by with a 5 minute wait or less we must ride. I write down all the rides we do. Then on the plane trip home, when my boys tell me we didn't get to do much, I show them the list.

We always start our first full day with a character meal.

The first park we go to is always Magic Kingdom

We always have one meal at Crystal Palace (B,L or D)

We always eat dinner at 'Ohana first night of the trip

When we go to MGM, we always hit Starring Rolls for Breakfast and great coffee.

Always MK right after check in no matter what day no matter what time. We always do our Chef Mickey's breakfast the morning we have early entry to MK. After we tear up the rides in Fantasyland we take the monorail to the contemporary for our breakfast. And we always visit Downtown disney at least once and eat at Wolfgang puck's express and the kids visit legoland.

1. Dinner at CA Grill. This year it will be on our anniversary!

2. The first ride we go on at MK is always SPACE MOUNTAIN!

3. Lunch at 50's PT. I need my pb&j shake fix.

4. Toll house cookies @ Main St. Bakery.

5. A visit to Disney Quest to enjoy the family pirate ride/game and create our own level 5 rollercoasters...barf bag anyone??!! :teeth:

We always have dinner at Ohana and Boma. We like to go a little early to Boma and tour around the gift shop and outside to see the animals.

1. Feeling like I've arrived home as I drive under the welcome sign.
2. Wandering around DTD. (I could LIVE inside World of Disney and feel like I've not spent enough time in there! Poor DH!)
3. Getting ice cream in a Ghiradelli chocolate-dipped waffle cone and sitting alongside the lake, listening to all the Disney music on the speakers, looking at all the lights reflecting in the lake, enjoying my family.
4. First day at EPCOT, Spaceship Earth first.
5. Day two Magic Kingdom, Fantasyland reigns supreme, Here I come Peter Pan's Flight! How much more magical can it get I ask you?!?!?! :earboy2:

First park on the first day is always MK! We like to get there by boat or monorail--it is just more dramatic--and we start by hitting every single shop on Main Street. We also have to buy something from every country in the World Showcase, and we have to watch every single film and go on every ride in the WS. I don't know if this could be called a tradition, but instead of waiting in line to have our pictures taken with characters, we take pictures of the characters w/ random children. (Maybe a little creepy, but whatever! If you see a short girl and a tall guy taking a picture of your kid, it's just us!)

Some traditions for us are:
*renting a pontoon boat for an hour
*taking a picture of my girls by Flick at Honey I Shrunk the Kids at MGM (I watch their growth from year to year)
*having the kids make masks at the Kidcot stops at Epcot
*Eating at 'Ohanas
*shopping at DTD the first night we are there
*I always buy a chocolate covered rice krispie treat at DTD
*I always buy my girls stocking stuffers at the shops at The Contemporary
*Always eat at Crystal Palace for breakfast our first morning
*Always go to MK on our first day

That's all I can think for now

Having only been there one other time I cannot say that we have a tradition as of yet. Last time when we went my wallet was full of $$$ and when we left it was empty. Guessing that will happen this time too!

We have loads of traditional things. But a couple that sprung into my head immediately are:

* The first ride at the MK each trip is Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
* At breakfast at the WCC my DH orders a bottomless chocolate shake. (I can’t wait to see him do this in front of our DMs this trip.) :bitelip: :lmao:

Well a tradition we started,

First Ride-Monorail! (I love the monorail)
First Park-Magic Kingdom
First Ride in Magic Kingdom-Pirates of the Caribbean
First Ride in EPCOT-Spaceship Earth
First Dinner- Ohana at the Polynesian

Our tradition is our arrival day:

Lunch at Kona Cafe after checking in at the Poly
Relax at the Poly pool
Dinner at Chef Mickey's
Watch EWP from the Poly dock
Head to bed and dream about tomorrow - our first park day @ MK

Debbie

For us our first park is always MK - nothing like seeing that castle to tell you you are definitely here!!!!

First stop - POC!! Always!

We always come down at least a day early (before our package starts), go to DTD that first evening in town and eat at Planet Hollywood!

We also go to AK the very first day of our package....we usually only spend one day at AK (actually about 1/2 a day) so we get it done first!

The last park we visit is MK....nothing like seeing the castle last thing!

We have a number of family WDW tradtions, some of them date back to before we had kids and our family was just DH and I (a family true, but a small one.)

However some have fallen side because Disney no longer has them, or changed them. We used to get a mug (cermaic) for each resort, but they stopped making them the same size. We got a magnetic picture frame at each resort, couldn't find them at most resorts. We took a picture at the flower cart on main street that is now a shope. This one dates back to before DH and I started going, all the way back to when I was a kid.

Some things we still try to stick to (but I do admit have some flexibility too) is Dumbo as the 1st ride (1st full morning at MK). We eat at CP each trip too (used to be last meal, but not consistant in that.) We like to eat at Beach and Cream at least once each trip, but didn't last time.

I remember when my friends came with us, I was sad we didn't get everything I wanted done. She said we had lots of fun all day every day, what more could you hope for? :)
