What am I missing about November?

Ok we are thinking of going to Disney in mid-November (the full week before the week of Thanksgiving (Nov 12-17th). We are planning to go to MVMCP on November 13th and I just saw that the Osborne lights start on that date as well. So if I am reading right from things on the board, this should be a good time to go. We have Christmas parties, decorations, end of Food and Wine festival, supposedly low crowds, good decent weather (hoping it is not too cool) and DVC is cheap that week. What am I missing and why don't I see a "whose going in November post" :confused3

Besides taking my kids out of school for that week, what am I missing about this week that would make me change my mind. Any opinions on this? Thanks!

Let see... The hours will be a little shorter... No, you have that taken care of with MVMCP. So I don't suppose you're missing much.

Probably not a lot of families (and hence DISers) going in November.

We went almost the exact time you are planning and it was perfect!

I think the reason you don't see many November threads is because no one goes! :)

Weather is *great* - warm enough for swimming but not hot like summer and early fall. Crowds are minimal with the exception of Epcot on the weekends (Food & Wine Festival may fall during those days but I can't remember...)

Many people think of the pre-Christmas season as Thanksgiving and the first 2 weeks of December so it gets overlooked for those special happenings (such as Osborne & MVMCP) as well.

Go and enjoy! :thumbsup2

We've been several times at that exact time and I would recommend it 100x over! We were even wearing shorts during the day. Evenings were just cool enough for me to need a light jacket. DH didn't need one. I know this is not always the case, but the likelyhood is good. Mornings could be a little cool too if doing EMH. I think the reason for no threads is that many schools have off the week of Thanksgiving and hence the greater crowds. Although, I will say that the days before Thanksgiving you won't see the parks too crowded. It's that Wed. nite when the masses begin arriving.
Go! Enjoy! Move freely! I take my kids out of school for all those reasons.

That should be an awesome week. I think Jersey week is 8 or 9-12 so other than Sunday most of them will be headed back. And lots of "fall visitors" are going early because of free dining.
Hummm... maybe we should consider it too.
:ssst: Don't tell anyone!

Check out this link... November WDW travelers

We've just all been hiding on the codes and rates board! :rotfl2:

We went at this time two years ago, and are heading back almost the exact same time this November. It was perfect! I think a lot of people don't go during this time because it is so close to the holidays and most people are just so tied up with all the holiday preparations, travel, etc.

We'll see you in November!

So glad to hear this! We'll be there the 13th - 22nd - I hope everyone's past experiences hold true this year!

Hi,

We have been to Disney in Nov. quite a few times and will be there again this year close to the time your going Nov. 12th-20th. It is a perfect time to go. We have planned this year to do the Keys to the Kingdom tour. Yes there are decorations and the Osbourne Lights. The 12th is the last day for Soap Opera Weekend and Food and Wine Festival, we have been to both in previous years. You will have a great time at this time of year, the weather is really great, cool am, warm in the afternoon, and cool at night, yes most resort pools are heated. Have a great time, you will find more people when the time gets closer talking about their plans etc....

Have fun

I'm planning on going that same week (Nov 12-17). I have two sons whose borthdays are on the 12th (turning 5) and 16th (turning 7) and we'll be there for both their birthdays. My DW actually won the trip so all we have to pay for is airfare and souvenirs.

We've been planning the trip since March and the wait is killing me. Good thing for the DIS to tide me me over.

I know the weather can vary - but would you say it is shorts and t shirt weather or could I get by with capris and t most days and bring a light sweater?

Bump!

Would also like to know the type of clothes to pack for a Thanksgiving trip. We're used to going in October.

In '04 we were there this exact week, it was great. Weather was perfect...high 70s during the day, upper 50s/low 60s at night. Got a little chilly waiting for Illuminations one night, but that was our own fault for forgetting our sweatshirts. The park hours were a little slower, but I had at least one FP a day in my pocket that we never used because we wound up just walking on the ride. Actually, DS5 (at the time) and I rode Test Track three straight times in a span of like 45 minutes, it was great.

We're going to be there Nov. 12th-19th. We have gone this time of year 3 times, and it has been perfect. The weather is usually very nice and comfortable. Hopefully this will be the same this year.

We will be there Nov 12-17 and we are doing MVMCP on the 13th too!!!
We go this week almost every year and it is my absolute favorite time to go. We are always able to go swimming. I usually wear capris and t's during the day. It gets cooler later in the week. I always bring a light jacket for myself and the kids. DH usually doesn't need one. We have been very lucky in the past with really great weather, low 80's, high 70's and no rain! I usually pack a couple of pairs of shorts for DD along with capris and t's. DS and DH wear shorts and t's. I also pack 1 pr of jeans for each of us.

To the OP, your not missing anything. They still do the EMH morning and evening, parades and fireworks. The shorter hours are no biggy because there are literally no lines and the major attractions rarely have a longer wait then 20min tops! You can really get everything done with the shorter hours. Don't forget Epcot is open till 9pm and then there is always DtD to go to at night.

I really fear more people catching on to this perfect week! So maybe I should change my post and say it is a terrible crowded time to go, everyone stay home!!!LOL :lmao: ;)

We are going week of November 7th. Good to hear November is a good time :thumbsup2 . This is our 1st family trip to Disney and I'm taking the 2 DD's out of school for a week to go! Hopefully we can go swimming!

We won't make it this year in November but we like going then alot. We're going the first week in December this time. It sounds to me like you've picked a perfect week to go and you won't miss a thing.

I was thinking about going that middle week in November with DD in a few years so we can catch MVMCP. Do they have all the Christmas decorations up at the resorts and in the parks that early? And do they always have a few MVMCP's that full week before Tgiving week? (Nothing like planning ahead!)

We went last November, the week just before Thanksgiving. As far as I am concerned, we can go that week for the rest of our lives! We experienced very few crowds and only had to stand in line one time! With small children, that is really a plus!

The weather was beautiful. It was hot during the day (shorts and tanks) and in the evenings I usually wore capri's, hubby was fine in shorts, and DD wore a light sweater.

We didn't have time to swim, but it would have been warm enough to during the day. Maybe not at night.

We are planning to go again this November the same week. We haven't booked it yet, because there really is no need to book that far in advance since it's so slow!
