I am going back to school in 2 weeks (I say "back" because I already hold one degree and am going back to get my teacher's certification), and intentionally scheduled classes on Monday night, Tuesday and Thursday. That way, I'll have all day Monday, Wednesday and Friday to do my fieldwork and/or substitute teaching, and I'll have the weekends to do homework and rest.

That all changed today. I got a call from a close friend of mine asking if I could watch her baby on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. I told her that I'd agree to that now, but plans may change depending on my fieldwork schedule. I'd try to get my fieldwork on Mondays or Tuesday/Thursday morning (my classes don't start until 12:30PM on TTh), but no guarentees. If that goes through, I'll be doing fieldwork and in class all day Tuesday Thursday, substituting/fieldwork on Monday, babysitting Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, which leaves Sunday as my only day off during the week. Eeeek! I'm hoping that all will go smoothly, but I have a feeling that I will have to give up something, most likely the babysitting. I really hate to give up anything, but that might need to go.

What am I doing?!?! Vent over. :)

whew! I got tired just reading that.

Good luck with your new classes. If it is any help, I found that when I "went back" for my 2nd degree, it was much easier. I just didn't have the time to mess around and I learned to get that studying and work done much more quickly and efficiently.

It really wasn't as difficult as I was expecting.

Your schedule just gave me a headache! I think I'll go take 2 aspirin & lay down!

All kidding aside, good luck ~ sounds like you'll be very busy!

:D I feel for you, Debi. I have a rule for myself that I don't babysit on the weekends. I do occasionally make an exception but I try to save Saturday and Sunday as family time. Maybe your friend could find someone else to take the baby at least on Saturdays? Good luck with the classes.

vald1977, when I got the call today, I had asked her if I could have Saturdays off for the exact reason you mentioned, but she told me that Saturday was the day that she needed me the most. At least I'll have Sundays, and if I can get my fieldwork schedule done the way I want it, I'll have the day on Monday also. We'll see!

When I went back to earn my 2nd degree to teach, it was totally different than the 1st, but than my life was different with different priorties. Especially compared to those that were in my class. It was interesting.

Careful not to spread yourself too thin. And getting that degree is your number 1 priority. Do what it takes! ;)
