What AKV room category will you request?

--Standard View- This is the one! We can still request a Savanna(h) View.

--Savanna(h) View- I Need a guaranteed view of the animals.

--Concierge- For the few extra points, this is a great deal!

Personally, I will be trying to book Concierge level... with a Savanna(h) View of course!

I think that I will always request a Savannah view, except for special, 1 night stays when I hope to get Concierge.

I say this because it seems that there are so few Concierge that I don't want to have to call day by day and worry about missing a night in the middle of a longer stay. If we find out that they have significantly more Conceirge rooms than we know about, then I will always try Concierge even if it means calling day by day. Does that make sense? I am willing to call day by day for a BW view at the BWV in December, it just seems more likely to get what I want.

I hope that they will have more than the 5 concierge rooms that have been reported. My idea of luxury is the space of a DVC room, with the added benefits of concierge!

I voted for "standard", only because there wasn't an "all of the above" category. Or are we the only ones who will vary our reservations? I'm hoping we get to try all the catagories.
Also, ahem, size does matter , so won't the 1 and 2 brs be more in demand, regardless of view?

AKV will not be my home. When trying to book at the 7 mo. window I will be flexible and will take any of the above- but my preference would probably be guaranteed Sav. View.

Guests who book a standard view room at the AKL frequently receive a complimentary upgrade. Less than 10% of the rooms have a standard view and unless the hotel is very booked many (most?) guests get upgraded.

It is likely DVC will keep a unit empty, or give to to a cash customer, rather than provide an upgrade for guests staying on points. DVC guests will have to assume a standard view unit will be just that. Will there be enough common areas to view animals? How bad will the standard view rooms be? Landscaped or just a view of a parking lot?

Animal Kingdom lodge is our favorite and the name says it all. ANIMAL KINGDOM. So we will probably request Savannah when we stay there unless it was some circumstance where we wanted to get more tme out of our points or had a limited amount of points.
My YB (young bride, since I can't understand many of these abreviations I will make up my own) really loves Getting the oprotunity to see a kritter out the window.

That's a good point, Diane. It's making me re-think the whole concierge thing. If the Concierge rooms are not a guaranteed savanna(h) view, I will need to make a decision...
Would I rather have concierge services, or a savanna(h) view?

We stayed in a paid concierge a couple years ago at AKL, and totally fell in love with it. When I got the notice for AKV I couldn't dial my phone fast enough, and I have Rafael (my guide) on speed dial.

Anyhow, I would prefer concierge, only because I am now spoiled by it! I would settle for SV in any case...

I voted Savannah view, but I think we will try for concierge at least once, for the experience of it (we have never stayed concierge anywhere) and to take advantage of the Sunrise Safari.

For one, you get to take the sunrise safari, and partake in the most spectacular breakfast you can imagine! Then there is the food tables that are out all day and part of the night. We actually replaced meals with that continuous food. I don't know if the DVC concierge will be the same as when we paid $430 a night, but if it's anything close to the level of service it's the only choice for my family.

Do you have any idea how quickly the Sunrise Safari fills up? Just wondering if it's going to be as difficult to book space on the safari as it will be to get into concierge in the first place.

I'll third that! It was wonderful breakfast and a fun morning!

This was my favorite concierge of all of the Deluxe hotels. I think it was because of the location, in the loft above the lobby. It was so nice to have a a fancy coffee while overlooking the beautiful lobby and the sunrise coming through that huge window. It just made the lobby glow. Oh no! Now I need an add on.
