What AKV room category will you request?

In reading over all the replies so far, I realize just why I love DVC so much..........the choices we are offered each time we come HOME!
There aren't many destinations that can give you either an entirely new experience if you want one, and at the same time, offer a tried-and-true one to those who wish that option. How great is that!

It is likely DVC will keep a unit empty, or give to to a cash customer, rather than provide an upgrade for guests staying on points. DVC guests will have to assume a standard view unit will be just that. Will there be enough common areas to view animals? How bad will the standard view rooms be? Landscaped or just a view of a parking lot?

DVC generally does not upgrade members. So I am guessing the cash customer gets the upgrade.

Guests who book a standard view room at the AKL frequently receive a complimentary upgrade. Less than 10% of the rooms have a standard view and unless the hotel is very booked many (most?) guests get upgraded.

I voted for standard view because I thought that meant a view of the pool area or a landscaped garden area, with the possibility of being upgraded to a savannah view.

I thought the "value" rooms would have views of the parking lot.

Well, if I can't get a guaranteed view of the pool area or a landscaped garden area with a standard view room, then I want to change my vote to "savannah" view.

Assuming the Savanna continues to be nice after the add-on building is complete, we would request that view since to us that is what AKL/AKV is all about

WOW, That is the first time I have ever seen a member say that! Must be something wrong!

Even my DW, who is always telling me, "no that is enough" allowed me to jump on that mailing I got over the weekend.

For some reason I really like staying in the Lodge so focus on those rooms ...and we like them all...

Value- is a good value! We usually do 4 in a 2 bedroom so smaller size is OK for us. I don't think there will be any parking lot views - maybe a couple- just pool and savanna(h)!

Savanna(h) - You get to see the animals, Duh!? That's why your here!

Concierge - Ohhh! that lounge is so nice and the food... yummm. And only a few points more. (but not so great views)

Standard - are we talking pool view (I think). We like pool view too!

When it's time to book, it will be interesting to see if this plays out. There are more savannah views, so maybe DVC has the right mix there...but oh, I wonder about concierge. I have one special night next year, and I really would like concierge for that.

When we call to book we will always ask for a Savannah view. But if none are available for our stay we most likely will take a pool view or a value. But our very first stay has to be in a savannah view.

Savanna view all of the time. Having the opportunity of viewing the animals from our private balcony is the reason we stay at AKL now and would become the motivation for future DVC stays. We would be more than happy to stay at VWL if savanna views aren't available.

I voted a value room. Although I might try for any of the rooms depending on the occasion. I don't think they will be upgrading people at AKV from standard to savannah views. In my experience and from reading hear on the DIS, upgrades only happen then rooms are unexpectically taken out of service. My thought on what the room level were was:

Value - Smaller room view not guarenteed could be parking lot could be pool could be savannah.

Standard - Standard sized (larger) room view will not be savannah view (could be pool or parking lot)

Savannah - Standard sized (larger room) with a guarenteed savannah view.

Concierge - Standard sized (larger room) with access to the Concierge benefits view not guarenteed.

This is how I feel, at least right now. I would stay at one of the other resorts for a "pretty" view, but the animals are the clincher for the kids. I don't think I could tell my kids we were staying at AKV and then NOT have a view of the animals! Heck, we saw armadillos at VWL!!!

Slightly OT, has anyone seen a room layout or map of the proposed villas yet?
