What age were you when you bought?

I was 44 and DH was 47. 3 kids ages 8,almost 12, and almost 15. It took me this long to convince DH to even visit WDW. He kept saying it would be a one time vacation and we should wait until all 3 kids would be able to enjoy it. After arriving for the first trip he decided we might take a second trip. Then after returning from the first trip and finding out about DVC he is looking forward to when the kids are out and he and I can use our points.

We just bought one year ago, we were 33. Oh, if we could have afforded it sooner!

Hi everyone I was 37 and DH was 39. We intend to add on at least another 100 points next year!! We have enough for our trip this year and trips next...but thinking of cruisin' :cloud9: . DD9 now wants to cruise for her 13 bday and we think not a bad 13th bday present huh!! (All I got was a gold necklace!?!) We wouldn't be able to do that if not for our wonderful DVC!

We just bought last week at 40 & 37. Kids are 4, 9 and 12 and we can't wait for the first trip in February.

I was 49 when I purchased - all kids gone and single! I wanted a place where I could go by myself or go with my family. I go with my grown kids and friends and I plan to take the future grandkids!!!

Enjoy the magic!

I am 44 (almost 45) and my DH is 45. We just bought in August and are happy we did it! Our DD is 21 (next month) and our DS is 17. We took a lot of trips to DL over the past several years and really just 1st investigated DVC last summer while staying at the GCH. We are anxiously waiting until we take our 1st full family vacation to DW next summer (along with a 3-day cruise!) My DH said DVC will be great when we have grandkids in the future, too! :sunny:

I was 27 and DH was 29 when we purchased in the summer of '05. Now we have a 3 month old.

Bought last year at 39, DH was 41-- Bought it for my upcoming 40th Birthday and our 15th year anniversary--

We felt it was the right time to buy in last year and were so thrilled to be able to get points at the BWV!!

We bouught SSR in 2003 when we both 52 (after about 25 trips to WDW). Our son is married and owns BWV. We now have 2 grandsons, 3 & 1, so I see plenty of trips in our future. Our other timeshare is in Key West. :cool1:

I was 28 when I bought and yes I was ready to buy. Didn't put any hard financial burdens on us and what I did finance was at 0% interest and will be paid off in less than a year.

I was 37 when I purchased. I too wished that I bought sooner. Too
many Commando trips in the past to pay attention to the DVC booths. :woohoo:

DVC was my 30th birthday present. We bought a year ago- our DD was 1 1/2 and we didn't plan on it but when looking at the cost of a single Disney vacation vs. buying DVC- we decuded to make the leap. Glad we did- this Feb will be our 3rd trip "home" and we love, love, love it!

We bought in November 2003. DW was 46, I was 45. (She's 10 months older :goodvibes ) We have one son.

We just bought this year in May at SSR. I am 43 and my DH is 46. Our DS is 20 and our DD is 17. They are not overly thrilled with the idea of Disney at this stage of the game. Honestly, I have to say, after our trip a couple of years ago, I thought we were done with the Disney thing, but after going this year in May for a big family trip (DD brought a friend and were on their own alot) doing it as adults was so fun and relaxing. Alot less stressful - not having to be somewhere at a certain time, go with the flow etc. I loved seeing my kids enjoy it when they were little - great memories. We just decided to take the plunge into DVC. We will have it for 48 years - my kids will get it, and we can enjoy it with our grandchildren (hopefully) someday. Sometimes you're never ready but it all works out :sunny:

Cool. So far I'm the baby buyer. I was 23 and DH was 28. We bought on our honeymoon with wedding money. Yes we bought the DVC before our house, but the house came along 2 years later. It felt like the right thing, and it was.

I do see some of what OP is saying about financial priorities, but really that's nothing new. Most of the financial irresponisibility you see is learned, either because the role model couldn't handle money or because the role model didn't bother teaching. It makes me crazy to see it though.

I was 43, my wife 41. We had kids age (at that time-10 and 5 yr old), now they are older, and am going to go to Hawaii in 08, and go to HHI every year and to WDW a little less now, but we will still go every year or every other year...

Gotta love DVC!!

DeerH

We were 43 and 48 when we purchased last year, DD 21 & DS19. We had briefly looked into it in 2003, but we didn't think we could afford it. I finally decided Disney was getting our money anyway so we finally took the plunge.
