What do you guys think? Im opposed to taking infants as they can't appreciate the magic of Disney yet! What age for those in the know did your kids start remembering or appreciating the magic a bit more..?

I'm leaning in the 4 5 or 6 range but I can be mistake!

Parents help!

We went when my oldest was 20 months, and again when she was 2 and my youngest was 6 months. My oldest doesn't remember because she keeps telling me she wants to go to Disney. But it doesn't matter to me that she doesn't remember because the excitement on her face while we were there can't be beat. We are going in November and she will be 4 and my youngest will be 2

Our girls were 3 and 5 on their first trip. Neither one of them can specifically say anything in particular about that trip. We have been every year since then and they are 8 and 10 now and obviously have a huge love for Disney.

Just because they don't remember the particular trip doesn't mean that it won't be fun, because all of our trips have been amazing and watching our girls grow up in Disney has been a dream come true.

Next month will be their 7th trip and now we also have a son who will be 15 weeks old...he will grow up in Disney too and we can't wait to watch it. The memories are as much for us as for them. :)

Our girls love looking at all of the pictures from their earlier trips though, so they can "remember" through those.

If you ask an adult about their earliest memory, then it would be about age 3.But things are still fuzzy from that age.

We took our oldest when he turned 3, then Disneyland at age 4, then back to the world around his 5th birthday. He still remembers some of the Disneyland trip AND everything was still "magical." He remembers more of the 5 year old trip, but some of the believing had worn off, but was still there.

I hope to take my younger ones at almost 3 years (hey, they're free so it doesn't matter if they remember). Then maybe either right before or after kindergarten (5-6).

I have some memories of my trip at age 6 but nothing much from my trip at age 4. But we still have a family tradition of taking children in our extended family when they turn 4.

I was 14 and my sister was 3 on our first trip to Disney World. Neither one of us can remember anything specific about that trip. Of course it was over 35 years ago. :-) Actually, I have a snapshot memory of riding the ferry and the bus on that trip. And I remember a lot of details about the villa we stayed in at Lake Buena Vista Village -- in fact, I could probably draw a layout of the entire villa. But I have no memories of the park per se.

My 3 youngest kids were 4 or 5 when we took them for the first time and they've each been back several times in the last 10 years and none of them remembers much about their first trip -- mostly just the things we have pictures of.

We took our twins for their 2nd and 3rd bday (going later this year so they'll already be 4). We have great memories from their first trips even if they don't. They do still talk about what rides they liked and who they met, they might not remember it as an adult but they definitely remember our last trip and can't wait to go back.

Our kids were 2&1/2,5,&6 years old on their first trip. They all have memories of it, of course our littlest memories aren't as detailed as my oldest but she still remembers and loves to talk about it!

my grandsons remember early trips to WDW but the memory is from their photo books of the trips that they still "read". the photos help them with memories of the trips. the now 10 year old still will show you the book of his trip at 3 months of age, granted no memories but he sure knows that baby is him. something else for you to think about for memories of trips

I took my twins for their 5th birthday (they are 13 now). We have kept the trip kind of fresh with pictures and conversation, they remember some details but not everything. Even so it was the perfect time for us. I wanted them to be old enough to not need naps, not need a stroller, but young enough to not miss much when I took them out of school (they were still in preschool). I would not change anything about that trip.

My family took me when I was around 7/8 and whilst I have no memories of that trip now, I'm sure I remembered it for at least a little while. I do have some memories from a Disney trip when I was 10/11 (I'm now 22)

I think at 4 most kids would remember *being* at Disney but not necessarily have a lot of memories from the trip. I'm hoping my girls will remember our trip they were 7 and 9 at the time. Our boys will be 4 and 6 if we make it back when I am hoping...they may or may not remember, it'll still be fun :)

I have some memories from my trips at age 3 and 4. Are they super clear? No, but I have them.

However I can hardly tell you anything I did at Disneyland when I was 9. I think the most memorable moments from trips tend to stick, rather than the trip as a whole.

Our girls were 4 and 5 on our first visit and neither of them remember much. They have certain memories of being there, but nothing specific. I still have the great memories of it though. :)

I think the average person probably has their earliest memory from around age 3 or 4. Usually it's something foggy though and I wouldn't expect a child that age who visited Disney to remember very much of the trip in specific detail.

We took our kids for the first time when my daughter was not quite 4 and my son was 6. That trip in particular my daughter doesn't remember much of it unless we prompt her or she sees a picture. But my son remembers a lot of it. The second time my daughter turned 5 while we were there and my son was 7. They both remember lots of details from that trip and talk about it all the time.

I think 4-6 is a good answer, generally speaking. Also agree that BIG memories tend to stick & as a result I remember the day I broke my leg (at 4) much better than Disneyland at 10.

My daughter remembers nothing from our trip when she was 4 (she's 12 now). She does remember most of our trip when she was 8.

My kids were 4, 4 and 6 and barely remember the 1st trip...just bits and pieces. I was 7 when I went with my parents and also barely remember it. Like sharona says, mine can remember a lot of their WDW trips since about age 8 (they are 16, 16 and 18 now and have been to WDW about 10 times).
