What Age Do Kids become too old for Dumbo?

Too old for Dumbo? No one is too old for Dumbo. I have ridden before I had kids and when I go on a grown up only trip in September I am riding it then too.

Probably when you're worried about breaking your hip while getting in.

I'm not there yet.

I remember not being very interested in it for the tween years. Honestly it still isn't one of my favorites and I skipped it the last trip :guilty: and nursed the baby while dh took my older kids on it.

I'm going to assume it's sometime after 35, as it's still my fiance's favorite Fantasyland ride

My two dd's went this past December. My oldest dd has never outgrown Dumbo - she's 27 now. However, my dd7 (turned 7 the day before their trip), announced that she was too old for that ride. It was the first trip my oldest dd had ever been on (even before her siblings were born) that she didn't ride Dumbo. She told me on our upcoming trip that I can stay off with dd7 and she'll take ds9 on it.

My 89 year old Father in Law loves it -- I guess he hasn't reached the too old age yet. :lmao:

I don't believe it has anything to do with age. I believe it is more about one's attitude and experience, this being especially true in the tween to 30's. It's more how comfortable a person is with themself and/or if they have fond memories of the experience at an earlier age. If someone is shy, feels uncomfortable around others, or worries how others will view them, they will not enjoy the ride. If they understand the experience is all about having fun, sharing experiences with others they know, are out to live life to the fullest with little consideration of how others view them, and have decided to let the kid in them loose, the will love the ride forever.

I would say that most little boys by the time they are around 10 or 11 are probably at the age where Dumbo is no longer cool enough to go on, or to associate with (I know when we went my son who was 11 at the time, wouldn't have been caught dead anywhere near Dumbo). I'm not sure if there's an age where young girls get over Dumbo. On our last trip my daughter was 10, and she still loved Dumbo. I suppose when a girl gets into her teen years there might be more of a reluctance, but I'm sure there are many teen girls who still love (and would ride in a heartbeat) Dumbo.

Thankfully once a kid gets past the "cool" teen years, he is then able to recapture many of his long lost joys - like Dumbo.

My DS15 already asked if I would go on Dumbo this summer with him at Disneyland. He wanted to make sure I would let him control the up/down lever!

We were at Disney with friends and my three sons. At the time, my teenage sons were 14 and 16. Well, we rode just about everything at MK that day but there was no way we were waiting in the Dumbo line. But as luck would have it, the rain in the afternoon was intense and they closed the ride. As the rain stopped, we just happened to pass Dumbo and saw they were about to open it. We all jumped into line ... and, the most excited people in our party ... were my teenage boys! :lmao: They couldn't believe we got to ride Dumbo without a long wait. I still have pictures on my cell phone of my two huge boys enjoying their ride on Dumbo!

No one is too old for Dumbo if they want to ride it.....We've seen people probably in their 80's or 90's on Dumbo..It's just a fun whimsical ride. Iconic for Disney and one of our favorites.
Bonnie:woohoo:

Awesome response. // Three of us went to the MK over spring break -- My mom (a young 74), me (age 50), and DS (age 15). // We all did Dumbo.

I agree too about some older elementary age kids and tweens maybe not wanting to do it -- might be too concerned about coming across as a big kid -- too self conscious // not sure DS would have wanted to at certain ages without an older cousin talking him into it, but as a high school student he was ready to enjoy the Magic Kingdom to the absolute fullest and do everything without anyone else influencing him.
