This is my first post, but have been reading for a while - thanks for all the great info.

Next September we will be taking DH's family to Disney with us - 8 adults and 4 children. I am considering either a 2 bedroom plus a studio (OKW or BCV) or a Grand Villa (OKW). I would like all of your knowledgeable opinions on this - which scenario would you choose and why? Also, my home resort is BCV so how difficult will it be to try to reserve at OKW?

OKW GV at seven months will not be easy. Some seasons, lat Oct, early Dec, will be impossible.

Pesonally, although the GV sleeps 12, I think its too many.

I would go for two two bedrooms or maybe the GV and a studio or two.

But that is just my opinion, I bought DVC to be comfortable, six to eight people in a GV is comfortable.

In June we had DW's family for a reunion. 16 people. We had three 2 BR units at OKW. They put all of the units in the same building ajacent to one another. We couldn't get a GV, but they had plenty of 2BR's available. (We were going for a GV plus another unit) It was a much better choice. We could spread out, but OKW still made sure we were all together and treated as a "unit". (Fewer points in the end too).

I also think it would be difficult to get a GV at the 7 month window. Also, keep in mind the sleeping arrangements to fit the people you will have. I would do a GV plus a 2 bedroom or group of studios to accomodate things. We had a GV with 11 people once, and still had trouble getting everyone a bed because of ages and sexes of guests. We ended up with one 4 year old on an airmat.

If you are a friendly group I would suggest one two bedroom and two studios. That would give you 4 bedrooms and one full kitchen & laundry for fewer points than two 2-bedrooms.

With 8 adults 3 bedrooms (two in the 2-bedroom, one in the studio) doesn't seem like enough but there also doesn't seem to be any reason to go for 2 full kitchens...each studio and probably the second bedroom will come with a small fridge & a microwave.
