What about a trip to DisneyLand?(Bringing out our Inner Child °O° December 3-7 '09)

Sure. Here's the story behind it. When I left the Steamers, my Dad had just retired from teaching and was looking for something to do. He asked me one day, "do you think they'd hire me?" I replied, "One way to find out." He got hired to the Steamers the same year I left, and for about 4 years we both worked at D/L at the same time. After I moved east the first time (1981) he went on to do another 10 years, and loved every minute of it. So I bought a stone with both out names on it.

I've stayed at the Grand Californian and the D/L Hotel, but not the Pacific. For me, I think I'd go back to the D/L hotel, and get a room facing to Park to see the fireworks. The benefit, besides not needing a car and walking to the Park, is if I buy anything in the Park, they'll deliver it back to the room and I don't have to drag it around all day. So if I see something I want as I pass by it, I can get it, instead of trying to remember everything interesting and then run around in a giant souvenir sweep at the end of the day. But I do understand that cost is an issue, so we gotta consider that.

I wonder if we know anyone with a membership in Club 33 that would invite us to lunch?

I think JetBlu has some low fares to Orange County (my preference) and LAX. Or Southwest.

Mark

That's a great story about your Dad. thanks for sharing. :flower3:

Since this will be my first trip to DL would love to stay at a DL resort if possible. Love the idea of having packages delivered to my room, but then I'm not one for doing a lot of souvenir shopping (maybe 1 or 2 small items)

The trip I'm taking in Dec to WDW is on JetBlue out of Dulles. The airfare was $219 RT

Any reconocience needed this weekend while I am down there?

Cool - more roadtrips :)

I might finally get to go to the Left coast :yay:
You all (two words) have been busy.

I checked with my new boss and, providing I still have my job there next year, I would have no trouble with going to DLR for Dec 4 - 7, 2009. The other 2 weekends are out for me. I hope this works for everyone else !!!!

I was sort of thinking something like the Kingston Trio song "MTA" - a family boards the Peoplemover and (shudder!!) CAN NEVER GET OFF!!! (the horror! the horror!). Every time they zip through Star Tours, someone throws them a sandwich.

I love the way you think !!!!! We'll have to do lunch some time soon !!!! :thumbsup2

The trouble is, I can never decide which would make a better movie: The Peoplemover, or (gasp!) "The Parking Lot"!!

I can see it now: "The Nightmare (of Parking) before Christmas!" The movie that was too terrifying to make. So terrifying, no one will be admitted during the performance.

Have you ever had any good Boiled Owl?

For those of you budget minded, the HOward Johnson across the street is really great, very walkable, and has entertainment card rates as low as $59 a night during December!!! It is clean, comfy, and usually a great price!!

The ladies only trip stayed there this past April with a HUGE block of rooms, and there is plenty of restaurants on the way to/from the park!! Us DLers really love this hotel and the staff is great. I highly recommend if you don't want to stay onsite!!!

Website is hojoanaheim.com if you want to check it out.

Maybe the Peoplemover develops a mind of its own and recruits the trams from the parking lots. People are trapped and unable to get out ..... "The Ride-mare Before Christmas !!!!!

Can't say as I have ever had owl before. Does it taste like chicken ??

Thanks! It looks like I'm the cheapie of the group so I'll need this info :goodvibes

No Reb.. you are not the only one :)

I do have a friend who is a travel agent checking a few things for me, and will pass along the info. Rates that I have seen for rooms in that area (at the places she would only recommend like HoJos) are pretty decent.

Yep, stay here all the time!! It really is a great place, about a 5-7 minute walk depending how fast you walk and if you catch the crosswalk light or have to wait. Anywho, if you call directly and ask for the entertainment card rate, like I said I usually get $59 a night. If you share a room, it's such a sweet deal!!! Most others on Harbor vary from $89 - 129 a night, and that's the normal rate for HOJO if you don't have the card!!

Forgot, Disney View is $79 a night. All rooms have microwaves and fridges too! And they just replaced all the bedding!!!
