What about a trip to DisneyLand?(Bringing out our Inner Child °O° December 3-7 '09)

Has anybody thought about staying in the D-Land Hotel? And just walk to the Park? Then I can show you the stone I bought on the walk.

Master Mason: are you a traveling man?

Mark

There is actually very little benifit to staying onsite, infact many of the hotels on Harbor are actually closer to the entrance than the DL hotel. In fact I have never stayed onsite at DL, as I haven't been able to justify the extra cost, this is very different from WDW.

Yes I have traveled and you?

Mark, Since I've never been to DL I was thinking about staying one of the D-Land hotels there for the first time. Wish one would you recommend? But if I don't, couldn't you still show me the stone?

Greg, what hotels do you recommend on the Harbor?

Need to know all my choices so I can decide which is best for me. :goodvibes

The stones are all in the esplade between the gates of DL and DCA. For Hotels, I would Honestly recommend the Howard Johnson, I have stayed there a couple of times pre dog. Very nice rooms, clean, good price 1/2 mile from the hotel to the entrance gates. There are closer hotels, but they are not as nice or are way more expensive.

okay... from some of the posts I have read and from PMs I have gotten there are some tentative dates to consider for the trip. I would love to do earlier in the year, but that isnt going to happen for this particular one, as I am paying for 2 trips overseas in May and June. (Plus there is a friend who is getting married in April at WDW. ) I am hoping that a couple other Disfriends might be making this trip but it again would have to be later in the year for them.

the weekend before Thanksgiving (Nov 20-23, 2009)
the weekend after Thanksgiving/1st weekend of December (Dec 4-7, 2009)
the 2nd weekend of December (Mousefest) (Dec 11-14th, 2009)

the problem for me with the weekend of Mousefest is I have a meeting other friends at WDW from another thread (but willing to miss that, but is also a week closer to Christmas). And the weekend before Thanksgiving is 3 weeks after the October trip with everyone that might be going there, that might be too much $$$

I do what some input on these dates of who might be interested and when.

No I haven't listened to messages yet, will do so in a bit on the way to the games tonight.

The place I usually stay is on left below the lines of hotels listed it isn't that great a place, but they let me have my dog there. It is called the Anahiem Plaza Hotel.

Another recommendation is the Fairfield Inn. I stayed there in March and really liked it. I give details in my trip report below...but overall nice place.

Any of those dates will work for me.

OH, if you do anything, do the weekend before Thanksgiving so I can try to make it out!! We leave Thanksgiving Day for WDW!!! It's also really dead right before Thanksgiving, so that helps too!

Andrea

Although, hopefully, spring/early summer looks better for a few of the singles on here!! It would be WAY better for me, maybe there will end up being 2 different meets!!!

that was one of my thoughts for those dates :goodvibes

I am soooooooooooooo excited !! I didn't think I would ever get to do another Depp/Disney premier !!!!!!!! OK folks ..... 2010 is the year !!!! Disneyland is the place and now all I need is the date !!!!!!

I've got to get myself some new glasses, Jenroc. I actually thought I read that "all (you) need is _a_ date" for DL and the Depp premier. Sheesh!

You people are crazy! I'm jealous that you can just do these things- I don't have that luxury. I think I'll have to pass on premiere night. :sad2:

I'm also starting to wonder how everyone can afford their many trips to WDW and DL, Rebecca. Maybe travelling within the US is really that much cheaper than flying from Toronto... :confused3 Looks like 2009 will be the year of Disney for my travel budget.

All three of those dates look okay to me, right now, Sha.

Has anyone thought about renting a house where we could all crash during the trip? Just wondering if that might be more economical for those with us with pockets less deep. It could be a continuation of the most awesome Disney-fied road trip ev-uh! :thumbsup2

LOL about the misreading! I had to read it twice too

the budgets definitely would be stretched for some, that is why I was trying to space the weeks out a little in Dec. but I sooo want to see the 2 overlays they do. I am looking into something Care... will see what happens. Jen2, how far away is your cousin?

I can do the 1st 2 dates with no problem.... the 3rd date.. I have to put in a request and stay in line...:rotfl: on who gets it 1st...

OK !! Let's see if I can answer all of these. hehehe Before I go further ..... GOOD MORNING !!!!!

Boy, that is bad news entirely!! :confused3 Disney keeps cranking out movies based on rides (HM, PotC, AiW, etc) but nobody wants to make a movie out of The Peoplemover. :lmao:

Maybe we should develop a script in the next 2 years and present it to Mr. Burton as he is walking down the red carpet ..... ummmm "Terror on the Peoplemover" ?? is a possible title !!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I have always wanted to stay at the DL Hotel sine I first saw it in 1969 !!!! But may have to stay off property in 2009 and wait until my next trip in 2010.

In 2007 I stayed at the Howard Johnston's that Greg shows on the map. It was very clean, nice rooms, reasonably priced and a stone throw away from the parks. Lots of restaurants in the area and because the hotel is situated at a 3 way traffic light, the sidewalk was well lit at night for walking back (5-10 mins depending how slow you are after a day at one of the parks) to the hotel when the parks close.

Dec 4 - 7, 2009 would probably work best for me !!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: There are other minor things I might need (money, a babysitter, etc) but as for a date I mean a day in which the premier would be happening !! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I was actually planning on staying at the HJ again this year and I booked a 2 floor penthouse for only $99.00/night  in November for a 10 day trip because I booked so far in advance. I believe 4 people could stay there comfortably and at $25/per night/person I don't think you could find a much better deal.:confused3
I have found that the difference between flying out of TO and Detroit is HUGE !!!! Last year I paid $560 total for 4 of us to fly out of Detroit, return. I will not pay the prices that Pearson charges in taxes. I take an airbus to and from Detroit and totally enjoy my trip.:woohoo:

Maybe we should develop a script in the next 2 years and present it to Mr. Burton as he is walking down the red carpet ..... ummmm "Terror on the Peoplemover" ?? is a possible title !!!

I was sort of thinking something like the Kingston Trio song "MTA" - a family boards the Peoplemover and (shudder!!) CAN NEVER GET OFF!!! (the horror! the horror!). Every time they zip through Star Tours, someone throws them a sandwich. :happytv:

... couldn't you still show me the stone?

Sure. Here's the story behind it. When I left the Steamers, my Dad had just retired from teaching and was looking for something to do. He asked me one day, "do you think they'd hire me?" I replied, "One way to find out." He got hired to the Steamers the same year I left, and for about 4 years we both worked at D/L at the same time. After I moved east the first time (1981) he went on to do another 10 years, and loved every minute of it. So I bought a stone with both out names on it.

I've stayed at the Grand Californian and the D/L Hotel, but not the Pacific. For me, I think I'd go back to the D/L hotel, and get a room facing to Park to see the fireworks. The benefit, besides not needing a car and walking to the Park, is if I buy anything in the Park, they'll deliver it back to the room and I don't have to drag it around all day. So if I see something I want as I pass by it, I can get it, instead of trying to remember everything interesting and then run around in a giant souvenir sweep at the end of the day. But I do understand that cost is an issue, so we gotta consider that.

I wonder if we know anyone with a membership in Club 33 that would invite us to lunch?

I think JetBlu has some low fares to Orange County (my preference) and LAX. Or Southwest.
