What a morning!

Had a new gas cooker fitted this morning - straight forward you may think? not in our case:confused3

Corgi man installed cooker and the oven and grill refused to stay lit!
After checked the incoming gas supply pressure - turned out this was dangerously high so had to call Transco out to fit a new regulator. In the mean time we had to turn the gas off, all electrical appliances off and open windows for ventilation - always happens when it's blooming cold!

Transco arrived after an hour and cooker still not working so DW called Currys to complain (she's much better at complaining than me :) ) - after being passed round about 6 departments, being told to ring about 3 different numbers we still haven't got it sorted.
One women said it would be over a week before we could get a replacement cooker - they will be paying for a weeks worth of eating out if it does take that long :mad:

Just waiting for them to call back (not really expecting them too :sad2: ), so will give them another hour and DW will try and ring them back (and probably have to go through the whole fiasco again!).

Why is life never simple?

OMG! Sounds a nightmare! :eek: Fingers crossed you get sorted soon...
 
I can fully sympathise Tim....virgin have just turned up to install a v+ box and two set top boxes.......and as nothing is ever easy in our house im expecting to have a long afternoon :confused:

We had our V+ installed last Christmas and it only took about 40 minutes. Can take a while for the viewing card to register though, although ours only took about 10 minutes before all our channels worked (we have the XP TV package). If you have a HD TV make sure they have the HDMI cable :)

I love the V+, I don't know how we managed before with just a VCR or DVD Recorder. It's great to be able to record 2 channels and watch a third one :)

Downside is Virgin have almost no HD channels! Only BBC HD and some Filmflex movies.

hi i had one of those yesterday.
umm very embarassed to say i had to return my american double fridge to the shop as we couldnt get it in the house, i measured the gap in kitchen but didnt think about the doors,(okok, actually i made him remove chiney breast in kitchen, put in new steel to support it then re do walls oopppsss) hubby not impressed, not a happy bunny.
i made him dump the old one the day before, guess what were shopping for tomorow!!!
 
Update:

Got fed up of getting past from pillar to post on the phone so went to the Currys store we bought the cooker from.
I told them I wanted either a new cooker or a refund! The customer service chap went away and called head office - was on the phone for ages (perhaps he thought I would give up after a long wait LOL).
Turns out that our cooker is no longer in stock so can't replace it!:headache:
They would give us a refund, but only after they pick up the faulty one - he could say when they would be able to pick it up, could be 'sometime' next week!:headache: :headache:
He then said we could come and chose another cooker from in the store and as long as it's in stock they would deliver early next week - this seemed like the lesser of several evils, although we will not be paying any more than we have already paid, even if the cooker is a more expensive model!

I can feel a nice letter coming on to Currys head office - shame I can't send a Harry Potter Howler LOL

Sorry to hear about your nightmare day. Curries has been a problem within the family of friends too. My friend even went to watchdog about his fridge freezer due to the hassle they had and watchdog investigated them. My friend was really pleased that he was on a watchdog episode and was able to get his complaint across. A long story with that problem it was going on for 3months before he went to watchdog. In the end they sorted it out for him, but only because watchdog got involved. Ever since then I wont touch them.

I hope curries come through for you. What a pain! :hug:

Currys have been hopeless!

Hotpoint (the cooker maker) rang yesterday and they are sending an engineer out on Monday morning.
