I mean it is Disney World or did I randomly get on the six flags forum?

I am more than happy to not care about many things but to have Uber offer an option and the official ride share to not.....

Who really care what the "official" anything is? Use what works for YOU. If you really want something offical and knowing the car seats are up to day and installed correctly then use a Minnie Van, or just bring your own - problem solved.

Lyft doesn't provide car seats or booster seats anywhere. Never did. Über has stopped bringing on new contractors with car seats (also never offered boosters). At some point, all their carseat drivers will have left. https://**************.net/2019/06/lyft-official-rideshare-service-disney-parks-ba "So what does this official partnership mean for Disney vacationers? Well, Disney shared that new enhancements will be added to the Walt Disney World Resort Minnie Van service this fall 2019, as Disney and Lyft collaborate on exciting ways to continue to make Minnie Vans even more magical for guests during their vacations. This fall, it will become easier than ever before to request a Minnie Van ride, find the most convenient pickup location, and even request a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, all while using the Lyft app on your Walt Disney World vacation."

It sounds like Lift is the official rideshare specifically because of the reservation platform for requesting MinnieVans.

If you needed car seats and boosters on property then you have to use the Minnie Van's. Uber and Lyft usually don't have them. And as stated above, Disney uses Lyft app for Minnie Van's. Minnie Van's are probably what Disney considers the "official" Disney ride share on property.

I suspect this simply means that the app will eventually understand that Minnie Van users can request a ride from MK itself and that you no longer have to call them for the wheelchair vehicles. Right now, the app does first thing badly because it wants to force you to TTC and can't do the second thing at all.

I wonder how they will manage inspections. Huge liability if a car seat is not secured properly and the unthinkable happens.

Suspect it's a idea that the person who has it likely should know how to secure it. I personally would check it over before I ride.

Maybe it's a go to the local police office to have it checked?

I wonder if the liability is on the driver and not Uber as well.

It was said when Uber rolled it out but honestly I've forgotten
There is something telling, to me, that Uber tried it and after a year or so, decided, Nope, not for us. We are going to Grandfather existing drivers but not add more. And even when it was rolling full bore, only available in select areas.

even if an uber or lyft has carseats I wouldnt not use them. Who knows how old they are? or how long they been used? the only thing I can see being usefull is a booster seat since there only function can be checked while being buckled.

NYC was also the test market for Uber Family, as it was called at the time. Uber invited top drivers to sign up, provided the car seats (so they were all the same), provided professional training on how to use them, and made each driver pass a practical test of installing a seat and strapping in a doll within a certain time limit.

When they expanded the program to other markets, they abandoned all that for a Wild West scene. Drivers had to buy their own car seat (from a list of accepted models), and just had to sign an affidavit that the seat had not been in an accident, was not expired, and that the driver had received training, had installed it x number of times, and could do it within the time limit. Of course, training on installing child seats is pretty much nonexistent in the wild, so I would think most drivers lied about it. And all liability was now on the driver.

I was doing some Uber driving at the time, and actually bought a child seat, but when I saw the affidavit, I knew there was no way I could honestly sign it, so I returned the seat to Walmart.

Yet you take your child on a bus without any restraints? I find that somewhat funny.

You are not hitting highways or such but the same streets you would be on for a Disney bus.

You must be great at partys. You dislike a company or comeplain while not reading the fine print and assuming everything is like in NY. Than come and ***** about Disney which has zero to do with Lyft through normal means. Minni vans have car seats that are regulated . If u wanted that you should have booked it. Going on a bus which is designed for people to ride without seatbelt is different than putting a child in a car designed only for adults.

Me? You are the one trying to start an argument. I am stating it how I see it. Guess what I am allowed on a forum to have a different opinion.

My whole point was not that Lyft doesn't have a car seat offering in Orlando yet but actually that Uber has one and Disney chooses to make Lyft the official sponsor.

It's Disney's choice and that is what I am pointing out is dumb. As far as a MinnieVan and stating that I should have booked that (I haven't booked anything and know perfectly well that it is an option)

You are more than welcome to disagree just make sure to represent my point correctly.

One last thing I never once said NY and Orlando were the same.

Does it matter though? You can still use Uber without issue. Official partner or not.
That only means Lyft paid money to Disney. I'm sure Uber was given a choice to bid (or did bid and lost) when Disney went hunting for someone to put Minnie Vans on their app. Lyft won. THAT is where the partnership came from. A car seat option for the provider wasn't even something that was in consideration. It was hosting the Minnie Van as a class of service.

Busses are designed differently then a car... which is why no car seats are needed. Not trying to start somthing just want to educate. Same reasons a school bus is safe :)

Seth, you’ve been needlessly angry since the first post in this thread.
