So many questions.....
We live in Northern California. We go to Disneyland 2 to 3 times a year. A few weeks ago we sat through a presentation at the DVC in Disneyland. The offer was for SSR. We have not purchased yet. Can we still take advantage of the friend's referral discount? If we do, do we lose the other incentives they were offering? The incentives were...two free Premium Annual Passes for Disneyland or Disneyworld, $.08 rebate per point, and the August 2005 start date.

I would also like to get feedback on purchasing at SSR even though we live in California. We would honestly only stay at SSR a handfull of times in our lifetime. We would mostly use the points for Disneyland Resort Hotels. Is this a good idea or not? What is everyone's experience with getting dates they want at Disneyland Resort Hotels? What is your experience with II? Do you usually get the dates you want if you plan in advance? I'm so confused. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Don't buy for the sole purpose of using your points at Disneyland. The only real value is to use them at DVC resorts @ WDW. For instance, one night during value season @ the DL Hotel is 23 pts. You could stay @ OKW Sun-Thur for 8 pts/night. I'd also like to point out that the rate for the DL Hotel is reduced right now due to the 50th anniversary...it is usually higher than that.

Don't even consider it unless you plan to travel to WDW at least every other year or they build a DVC in California that has lower point requirements than the current on-site hotels.

I agree, if you do not plan on using your points at a dvc resort I don't feel you will recieve value in return for your investment. However, if they open a dvc resort at disneyland......I'd say go for it!

DVC usually will not combine discounts. The current 15% discount would exclude any incentives previously offered - but allows for a much better price. You will need to provide the name of the member who referred you (it sounds as though they already have that information in your case).

Reportedly, the current incentive is only available for a couple more weeks, so if you're considering that pricing, you should call your guide ASAP. There is no word yet on what, if anything, will replace it. (Could even be a price increase.)

Good luck with your decision! :)

As stated above, using your DVC points at Disneyland is not as good a deal as using them at DVC resorts. If you assume that you can rent points for $10 a point, then using points to stay would cost you slightly more than buying a package, and the package would include park tickets. Add to this the fact that two out of the three Disneyland hotels are not close to the quality you would find at the DVC resorts.

That said, you have to crunch the numbers and decide for yourself. My family stays more frequently at Disneyland than Disneyworld--this will be our first trip home since purchasing two years ago--and while it's not a good value, it's worth it to us. A lot of the other DVC members I've talked to think we're nuts. :) To each his own.
