They just said (literally I was typing a response and they said it on T.V.!) it was a electronic touch pad (don't know how that works in the WATER!) but that is what decided it, but I can see it being contested too.

What an accomplishment for Phelps. Now if he can just get the 8th gold - think about how auspicious it would be given that these Olympics began on 08-08-08, at 8:08 am. Eight gold medals would go very nicely with that!!!
