What a difference 5yrs.makes.. Up on murder charges..

Five years ago I worked in a cafeteria in a private Catholic school located in the inner city area of another city near here..

There was this 11 year-old-girl that came through the line every day that I became rather fond of.. She was pretty - soft-spoken - and SO polite.. Never a problem like some of the other kids that attended school there..

Imagine my surprise last night when I saw her face staring back at me from the front page of an area newspaper.. There she was - sitting in court next to her attorney - on trial for murdering a cab driver !!!

What could have happened in that short time span to cause her to become involved with the other 2 people who are also facing various charges in this murder? She's only 16 years old now!!

It just makes me SO sad.. She did well in school.. She was well liked.. She was kind and polite..

I just don't understand...

This reminds me of what I went through recently. Back in 1987 I dated a guy who just recently was arrested for murdering a high school classmate - who everyone thought was a runaway - back in 1983. They just recently found his bones and one thing led to another and then they arrested the guy I dated. Pretty scary. I knew nothing about it at the time, but all that time I was dating someone who had committed murder. And yes, he has confessed to it.

Just goes to show, do you ever really know someone?

I use to teach Nursery School back in the 70s and there was this cutie I had in the 4s. He was just one of those kids that you remember because he was such a neat kid. Fast forward 20 years and he is now in prison for life w/o parole for murder. He came from a very weathy family that seemed to have it all, it just makes you wonder what went wrong in their lives for things like this to happen.
