What’s your silver lining?

I am always excited about a trip to WDW but this time, I am going to try something I never seem to have time for - the table service dining.

Typically we hit WDW running- park open to close with counter service meals. With the current early park closures, we are going to enjoy the restaurants on property. We have reservations every day for breakfasts and dinners, trying options at resorts and DS.

My silver lining is of course being able to go but also being slowing down and enjoying the dining.

What’s your silver lining, aside from a trip to WDW?

We discovered your silver lining years ago and have never returned to "park open to close with QS". So much more enjoyable and stress free. Once we realized we will be back again, missing/skipping an attraction and enjoying a restful table service meal or two each day has become our go-to. We often leave the parks when they get crowded as well, returning early evening as crowds subside.

You can also schedule your evening meals at or near park close if you wish. Something about leaving the park as one of its last guests because you had a late ADR.

Agree with more down time. We will be doing a split stay at AoA and Poly in July so it will be hot, and while I’m hoping park hours will be longer so we can eat at TS or take a break mid-day without feeling like we need that for park time, who knows. We have two kids so they will not be sad about extra pool and water park time! I have a feeling I will need to up my pool drink budget though... :drinking1

The dining has been important to our trips for years.
We usually do a signature restaurant most every night.
You still need to be picky, just because its a signature restaurant doesn't mean its good.
This year, we are missing some of our favorites, but we may find new favorites.

We just returned and the silver lining for me was mobile ordering! No longer having to search for a table with a tray of food while other people stare at you from empty tables. Always made us so mad!

We also decided to splurge on Cinderella’s Royal table since we don’t care about the characters. Just thought our boys would enjoy being IN the castle! We weren’t wrong and the food was better than expected!

Mobile ordering is AWESOME. My silver lining going the week after reopening was absolutely empty parks. The longest I waited was an hour in RotR, but that was because (big shocker coming...) the ride was broken down! Aside from that I think we waited 45 minutes once for MMRR, everything else was 30 minutes or less. That’s not so much the case anymore now that capacity has increased.

Another silver lining for me when I was there in July was the “death of rope drop”. We showed up to the parks usually an hour after opening, and we were generally able to get on every ride/attraction we wanted to. I wish there was a way this would remain the case, but I know as capacity increases, there will be an increased pressure to get to the parks early again.

We know folks who vacation at the beach every year. Others that go to Las Vegas yearly. They often ask, "What do you do at WDW every year??" (What do they do at the beach or in LV? Beach = swim and r and r in the sun. LV - gambling, shows and r and r.) We love our time at WDW as we embrace your silver lining - slowing down................... We enjoy long walks each morning together, sun time if we wish, at least two special tours each trip, time at the spa, sometimes a movie, and fine dining in additon to all the parks have to offer. Our biggest issue is trying to acquire an annual pass. Ours ran out in February 2020. We cancelled two weeks in January because we can not get. And I must say it has been a COLD snowy winter in OH.

We sit down for lunch, every day. We get up, get to the park, and ride everything we can. Then we sit down and order lunch, a drink and not worry about balancing a tray or finding a place to sit. Just this year (last weekend!), we had dinner reservations on 2 different nights. GAME CHANGER, I will never QS dinner again.
