What’s your favorite soup?

I love a good Navy Bean Soup on a cold rainy night. My daughter makes a delicious Caldo de Queso and Pozole. My mom used to make chicken corn soup that was fabulous but I have no idea how she made it.

thanksgiving soup-i've only ever encountered it from a company that only sells within canada (thank goodness for friends who travel there with some regularity and stock me up). amaaaaaaaazing stuff.

homemade-probably turkey pot pie or my spot on fake book version of olive garden's zuppa toscana (picked up the kale today to make it this weekend).

In the fall and winter we have soup for dinner a couple of times a week. I make a crazy-good chicken soup we call Garbage Soup, as I save the roast chicken bones and veg peelings (carrot, celery, onion) in the freezer till we have enough for a big pot. It all gets cooked in water or broth for a good long time, then strained. I then cook "new" carrots, onion, and celery in the broth until it's all soft and squooshy. It then goes into the blender, which makes a wicked flavorful, just slightly thick, soup. DD didn't used to like cooked veg, so this is how I'd sneak them into her. We'll have it with rice or noodles, or dumplings made with stove top stuffing. Oh gosh, it's good! I also make Pasta e Fagioli, french onion, split pea, chicken sausage with white beans and greens, corn chowder, cream of tomato, tomato basil, Italian wedding soup, "regular" broth-y chicken soup (based on Garbage Soup but the "new" veg are only cooked to eating consistency, and we serve it on rice or noodles, with chicken meat), cream of mushroom (or other veggies), a beef broth based mushroom soup, chicken leek, potato leek... as i said, we eat a ton of soup in the winter.

@leebee is the SOUP QUEEN!

My homemade venison burger vegetable.
From a restaurant I like chicken noodle if the noodles are homemade, also potato.

My wife makes a great Split Pea with Smoked Ham Hocks soup and has made Avgolemeno soup from scratch a couple of times (Greek chicken, rice and lemon)

My family loves homemade soup! Some of our favorites are butternut squash, loaded cheesy potato, roasted tomato, curry cauliflower and shrimp...

Soup season is ON! I have a 10 qt stockpot so I make a huge batch and at least a gallon gets frozen for those cold days when I don't feel like cooking. Favorites are:

Zuppa Toscano (the Olive Garden soup)
Chicken Tortilla
White Chicken Chili
Hamburger Soup
Broccoli Cheese
Potato Soup

I have yet to find a really flavorful chicken noodle.

Soup... mmm so many good choices! I would have to say my favorite is potato soup.

While potato is probably my favorite, I like many kinds :thumbsup2

I never ever make soup.
No reason why, I just don’t think of it.
A patient at our office gave me her beef barley soup recipe which I’m going to try soon. I’d like to try making different soups this cold season.

To answer your question - I love a good cream of potato soup.

Oh gosh I LOVE soup. My dad was the soup master. Dad’s Cream of Broccoli would probably be the all time family favorite but mine was his Navy Bean soup.

I don’t really get soup when we go out because it just can’t compare to my dad’s or mine. The exception is the Loaded Baked Potato Soup at the Carnation Cafe in Disneyland if we’re there when it’s chilly out. Potato soup is my ultimate favorite but my family aren’t really fans so I rarely make it.

My Chicken and Dumplings is probably the favorite in my house and is one my dad would ask me to make for him. Like leebee I go all out with a homemade stock and give it lots of love and attention. My personal favorite is what I call Veggie Chowder topped with crumbled bacon and cheese. I’ll eat just about any kind of homemade soup aside from Split Pea. I think it’s a visual/texture thing because I otherwise like all the ingredients that go into it.

My Mom used to love this and I always hated it as a kid. But you mentioning it just made me think I should definitely make some and try again! Thanks for the idea!
You should, hated it growing up, love it now.

I love soup, I have a bunch in my rotations, sausage/bean/escarole, potato leek, black bean, chicken tortilla French onion, gazpacho, tomato bisque, clam chowder, minestrone…I like purchasing Italian wedding soup, too many little meatballs.

Favorites to order out - French onion or clam chowder

Favorite I actually make at home - tortellini

I do hot turkey sausage in mine, and escarole/kale if it’s in the garden, sometimes spinach.

Ones I make at home ... butternut squash soup, tomato soup, corn chowder, split pea, orzo lemon chickpea, minestrone. I used to make NE clam chowder, but I don't eat bacon anymore so haven't done that one in awhile. I should try it with a bacon substitute. It won't be the same though.

If they have it at a restaurant I love some she-crab soup. I feel like I've mostly had this when we're traveling in Charleston or Savannah area.

When we traveled in Iceland they had the most amazing soups everywhere we went. There was a delicious fish soup, and I've made something similar at home once. I should make it again. I also remember a mushroom soup and a cauliflower soup. Maybe it was just the location or the cool weather, but Iceland had the best soups I've ever eaten!
