My DH went to golf in Florida this weekend. It was sooo cold! He won’t be home until late tomorrow night.
I made beef stroganoff bc it’s not his favorite so hoping my DS comes by tomorrow to get some too.

What started out as a lackadaisical day dedicated to one project (researching Asian recipes for a Lunar New Year’s celebration, mid month) suddenly became multi chores needing my immediate attention.

First, got an eBay purchased sewing machine that was partially broken in transit. Then noticed water stains on the kitchen floor that turned out to be the sink faucet. Finally the exterior light on the chest freezer went out. O happy day!
Thank goodness, the light only needed a new bulb but I was imagining the worst. The faucet required that I listen to dire warnings of complete faucet replacement but when I suggested that new internal rubber gaskets might be all that’s needed, the conversation changed for the better. The eBay seller asked me to price a new presser foot locally so that portion of the item would be credited back. That means that tomorrow we’re off to the Garment District, a good thing/bad thing, . Let’s see if I can get outta that part of town without buying any fabric, lol.

So no cooking today but I did heat up another portion of white bean purée and added chopped kale to it. Had a clementine for dessert.

Ribeye steak on the grill tonight, and some steak fries in the deep fryer. S Florida will finally be warming up after 3 straight nights in the 30s, so since it will only be hitting upper 50s tonight, it'll be a nice evening to warm by the grill's flames while cooking a steak.

My wife just landed at RSW (visiting her mom for the month in Fort Myers) and said it was "pretty chilly" there when she left the airport (in the 50's), but seeing how I'm still staring at 2 1/2 feet of snow, not a lot of sympathy from me.

Supper last night was a little different. I took smoked sausage, some penne paste and some green peas. Cooked everything individually, and combined it into a bowl, topped it with parmesan cheese and baked it for a few minutes. It was really good, just a little dry. Probably needed some cream cheese or milk or heavy cream or something. But it turned out okay, and all for less than $5. Also brought it for lunch today, so possibly 2 meals for under $5.

My wife just landed at RSW (visiting her mom for the month in Fort Myers) and said it was "pretty chilly" there when she left the airport (in the 50's), but seeing how I'm still staring at 2 1/2 feet of snow, not a lot of sympathy from me.

Most of you would have been cracking up, if you were in South Florida yesterday. When I went to the doctor's office, it was 61 degrees. Everyone had on big coats, hoods, scarves & gloves. To be fair, it was really windy. Yes, we're wimps.

No clue what we'll do. I inventoried our pantry and freezer yesterday. We basically don't have any meats. We have some breakfast sausage and eggs (and bread). So we might consider breakfast. We also have a frozen pizza. So that's an option. I have 2 cans of tuna in the pantry, and some eggs and relish (not sure on the mayo, but I'll have to check). So I might make some tuna for lunches the next 2 days. Then I don't have to spend money eating out. But DW doesn't like tuna.

It was delightful out today! It was 33. I ran to target at lunch because it was the first day above freezing in 2 weeks. It drops back below freezing tomorrow and with the wind chill this weekend the local weather people are saying it will feel like -30.

Taco Tuesday! DH had ground beef and I had black bean with Spanish rice.
