What’s for Dinner Tonight?

Have you tried to cross stitch? Many years ago I was bedridden for 2 1/2 months, prior to back surgery (long story). Needless to say, I was bored stiff, so I sent DH to pick me up a starter cross stitch kit. I had never tried it, but my MIL had made many things. So, I thought I'd give it a try. I ended up making several pieces, some of which I eventually had framed. It was really quite easy to learn. At the time, I was a young mother, so I left it behind, when I was able to get back to life. Now that I think about it, I've probably got a 1/2 finished piece here somewhere. :o
I have not tried it but have seen some beautiful pieces people have made. I’ll look into it. I’m looking for something to do this winter.

I met my bbf for brunch. I’ve been in a French toast kick so I tried theirs. Yummy!

Older bonus daughter has a friends dinner tonight. She offered to bring my lasagna. She lives in FL and I’m in CT so we FaceTime and made them together. 💗

Dinner tonight will be lasagna with salad and garlic bread.

This weekend was DD's ballet company's production of The Nutcracker. I am on the board of directors and am the assistant to the artistic director, so it was a busy weekend. Friday was dress rehearsal. I got home at 8:45 to discover DH had ordered pizza. Saturday was full rehearsal with shows at 2pm and 6pm. DD, DH, and I went out after the show. He had scallops, she had onion soup and salad, and I had a steak salad. Today there was one show at 2, but we had to strike after. I put frozen meatballs and sauce in the crockpot before I left at 11:30. The LittleGuy is staying over tonight, so we just finished shells and meatballs with salad and bread. I have a blasting headache from doing too much without decent vision, so DH will clean the kitchen and get LG into the shower and bed. It's a school night and he's 9, so he should be in bed by 8:15. Almost there!

We're up at our lake house today - my wife and a neighbor are doing Christmas cookie baking, then going to a ladies' church event tonight. So our neighbor's husband and I are hitting one of the local places on the island which has a "local's special" on Monday nights. It's off-season, so those restaurants that stay open in the winter offer deals to those who are still around. The restaurant we're going to does a $7 half-pound burger and fries deal. :thumbsup2

Viewer discretion advised. That French toast is too graphically delicious.

Tonight we had chicken Cesar wraps with fries.

Cookie #5.

Looks more like tart than cookie…
Okay my take from this exchange is @hardcorestitch is dreaming not of sugar plums but instead of chocolate tortes! 😉

It was pretty cold this weekend which changed my plans around a bit. Instead of viewing the crèche exhibit at the Metropolitan (do this every year to get me in the holiday spirit), stayed at home. Listening to music, reading cookie recipes and began choosing which ones to make. FaceTimed with DGD so she could see the holiday decor and somehow got “boss o’ me’d into” making some colour changes 😂.

Made a pot of sugo ( meat sauce) yesterday, portioned it out and froze it. Today mailed it to DGD with 2 types of sauce Bolognese so she’ll get it by Christmas.

Some sugo is defrosting so I can eat it for dinner with fettuccine.

Loin lamb chops are thawing. There's diced butternut squash and turnip (rutabaga, really) that didn't get cooked for Thanksgiving that will be part of tonight's dinner... and maybe that one, lone parsnip. I'll probably roast the parsnip and squash, and boil and mash the turnip.

Tonight is something to do with hamburger meat. We bought a pack on Friday, and it expires on the 10th. So we need to use either tonight or tomorrow. So I think we'll do something tonight (probably tacos, I might do a taco salad as I bought salad stuff at Market Street).

Sugo is another new word for me. I love learning new things on this thread.
