What’s for Dinner Tonight?

Anyone ever take a cooking class? I’m debating taking one. I’d like to learn something new. I was looking at an Italian Christmas cookie class but they have several that look fun.
I have never taken a class but I've always wanted to. I got close about 30 years ago. I signed up for a cake decorating class and it got cancelled due to lack of interest. Then, I had kids and life got too busy. Now that I'm retired and an empty nester I do want to take one some time. Italian Christmas cookies sounds fun!

Yes!! Your friendly supper club lady here. 🙋🏼‍♀️

I’ve taken several classes with girlfriends and a few with other couples as a date night. All really fun and definitely took new skills away from the sessions. Highly recommend signing up!

I’ve taken them from: https://www.surlatable.com/cooking-classes/in-store-cooking-classes/

As well as a local south OC place. https://www.tspoons.com/calendar-of-classes/

No, not a class. I was raised up at the elbows of my mother and grandmother, learning by watching and doing from a very young age. I was perusing cookbooks as I learned to read Dick and Jane. I have also learned a ton from the Food Network, particularly in the early days when they made shows that actually taught cooking. Today, a quick Google search and a few minutes on YouTube give me all the help I need with specific things. :goodvibes I do highly encourage you to follow your interest though - there's something particularly soul-satisfying about being able to produce a delicious and attractive meal. :flower3:

I've never taken a cooking class, but I have always wanted to learn how to make proper pastry, especially pate a choux for eclairs.

Tonight we're having brisket in barbecue sauce on Brioche buns and baked potatoes. I confess I'm not making the brisket-it's a ready made meal from Aldi. We are recent converts to doing our main grocery shopping there.

I learned to cook from my mom and grand mom. I also have spent time with friends grandmas learning from them. There are a few things I would like to master (like Asian food, Italian cookies, cake decorating, and cheese making) and have been debating taking a class. I have tried all of them but feel like I could use some fundamentals. I was able to teach myself to can through books and videos but I feel like I need some hands on help for things like decorating. It’s like yoga you can be a little out of alignment and the instructor aligns you and everything clicks.

Aldi? So far, no complaints. They have a large selection and everything we've tried has been delicious. The only complaint I have-and it's not really a complaint-is that the meats section is rather small. But it's made up for in these ready-made meals. We've had the pulled pork and that was yummy, and the beer battered cod was good. We spent $250 dollars last month there and got an enormous amount of food. I would have spent less, but my aunt was with me and kept putting snacks into the cart.

When I was in school we had home economic classes and cooking was one. I still remember making cream puffs and eclairs.
I can make most things I want to, I just have no desire anymore to spend too much time in the kitchen. I do love baking though, especially with DGD.

Tonight is crock pot chicken in mushroom gravy, cauliflower rice and green salad.
I leave for vacation next Sunday, so need to get the veggies and fruits used up

No formal class for me, I learned from my mother and just started to expand as time went on. The internet helps a lot too.

After our dinner at Hell's Kitchen on Friday, we were back to reality on Saturday with store bought pizza (ready to cook, but not the frozen type). Sunday was a treat at the New England Patriots game in a suite, with food and drinks included. I had some sushi, lobster roll, Philly steak and cheese egg rolls, buffalo chicken wings, a carrot cake dessert. We were able to take some "leftover" food home too, so dinner was mac n cheese with leftover mississippi roast.

Tonight will be Mediterranean chicken with rice pilaf and veggie.
