@Giraffe_Zen , when I first started going to WDW, many posters were enthralled with the Disney version which surprised me in a good way when I had it. I was used to a recipe similar to your version that the ex’s French aunt taught me.
I like both versions .

I'm still planning to make the turkey meatloaf guys, but my aunt has requested baked cod, and since I *can* eat that, I'm going to push the meatloaf to tomorrow.

I went to the beach today with a few friends. Got home way later than I thought - around 6:00. DH had the day off and was going to get fish for dinner but something happened with his car and needed to bring to garage to get looked at. Needs a new radiator.
He’s planning on getting a new car this year.
So again didn’t have anything for dinner here. I said how about we go out for Mexican. He said how about ice cream? I didn’t really want that but I was too tired to argue. Haha
My last day of school is tomorrow!! I can’t wait!

DH & I shared Grilled Stuffed Portabella, Grilled Swordfish & we each had a cup of chunky vegetable soup.

Last night’s meal was what started out to be a cup of cold cherry soup followed by chicken schnitzel and Brussel sprout hash.
It became a full bowl of the cherry soup and nothing else.
The soup was that good and I can eat the chicky and veggies perhaps tonight.
As for the soup, I can imagine eating a variation of it with other fruits, all summer long.
Oh dear, a new obsession .

Last night was steak and buttered noodles. Tonight is going to be pizza since we have to travel to SW MA for something and neither of us will be in the mood to cook.

This is the base recipe link and my changes follow underneath:

Add: 1/2 stick of cinnamon, 3 cloves to the boiling water with cherries and pits.

Use 1/2 the listed amt of sugar (1/4 cup?) especially if you can’t find sour cherries; I used1/2 sour and 1/2 Bing.



Swap out some of the drained yogurt for one part crème fraiche or sour cream and proceed.

The pits add flavor to the dish but if you are using pitted cherries the world won’t come to an end. Eventually, I’m going to try adding a bit of kirschwasser but need to buy some first…oh goody, an excuse!

Homemade subs. We put out all the toppings - meat, veggies, condiments, olives/jalopenos, cheeses and a big bag of chips.
Everyone makes their own.

It's a hot Friday night. No one wants to cook.

Tomorrow is a trifecta for me: early Independence Day- late Juneteenth celebration with friends, and a building-wide picnic.
So I’m making a sheet pan style flag cake for the neighbors + my friends as well as donating some Hummel Bros frankfurters for the kiddos, small and large
. For my friends, I’m making a black eyed pea and tomato vinaigrette, chow chow, collard greens and oven baked spare ribs glazed in Dr. Pepper sauce.
Also have some hibiscus sorrel punch getting chilly in the fridge.

I’m planning to eat some of the ribs with potato salad for dinner tonight.

I’m up in NH for the weekend to see Phish. Yesterday we grabbed a late lunch on the ride. I had a chicken Cesar wrap.

I’m the only one up so far, I have a breakfast pie in the oven. Hash brown potatoes, sausage, eggs, and cheese. I won’t be eating it because of the sausage but I’m in a rental house with 5 boys and they get hangry
