What’s for Dinner Tonight?

I stopped at the Japanese grocery store after my doctors appointment (it is across the street) and grabbed 2 premade meals for dinner tonight. I got shrimp yaki soba noodles and DH got gyudon beef rice bowl. I knew I wasn’t going to feel like cooking.

In more exciting news they started building our bar today. Meet Rita! (Yes I named my wine fridge😂)

Hope you're feeling a bit better.

Dinner sounds yummy, but Rita sounds like she might be the life of the party!

I’ve been spending the day outside in my gardens, so I think I’ll throw some burgers on the grill for dinner. I can be out there to keep my dogs out of the dirt and whatnot from my hard work. 😓 🤣 👩🏼‍🌾
We got up to snow yesterday morning; you have no idea how jealous this makes me.
Ham is in the oven and will be done in a couple of hours. Then it's noodle-roni and steamed green beans.
Now I have to figure out tomorrow.

Catching up again....

Friday - When in Wisconsin, we like to eat at a supper club at least one night. This was the night. We ordered Rumaki (bacon wrapped water chestnuts) to share for an appetizer. DH wanted the Fish Fry. I'm not a fan of fried fish, so I also ordered sauteed Scallops w/a Twice Baked Potato. Unbeknowest to us, the meal included bread service, a relish plate (which was delicious) & soup or salad. We chose Clam Chowder. It turned out that it didn't really matter what we ordered for entrees. The appetizer + free/included food were so good that we didn't have room for those.
What's a supper club?

What's a supper club?
I'm not the best person to ask, but I'll give it a shot.

We've only found them in Wisconsin, but I think it's a Midwest thing. IOE, they're typically well themed restaurant where locals go to meetup. The first one we went to felt like we had traveled back in time to the 30s to 40s complete with a few older guys acting like mobsters hitting on younger girls at the bar. That's the coolest one we've been to though. Most of them just have a nice atmosphere. They typically have above average food & drinks, where multiple courses are common. I think there has been at least one free course with the meal at all the supper clubs we've been to. It may be as simple as a palate cleanser or significantly more. I think they've all offered a bread service, which isn't common at most restaurants we frequent these days. All that said, our experience with them is very limited. I hope someone who grew up in the midwest will chime in with a more accurate description.

I think it's a Wisconsin thing. I only heard about it on Top Chef Wisconsin a couple years ago. It sounds like a really cool thing if done right, which it seems like the one you tried accomplished.
