What’s for Dinner Tonight?

Last night was supposed to be sesame orange tofu. It WAS, DD made it, but DH and I went out for drinks and apps with friends and ended up getting supper out. We split sesame fried green beans and gnocchi bolognese.

DD and I went out to buy hotdogs, sausage and burgers for tomorrow and I found pot roasts on sale. I threw one in a crockpot with onions mushrooms, and seasonings. Will serve with mashed potatoes

Speaking of find things in the freezer, found loin lamb chops, a bone in pork chop (maybe two?) and removed a pack of 2 burgers and that’ll be enough meat for at least a week. Keeping the 4th of July in mind, brought a porterhouse steak up from the bottom so I can defrost it before we leave (going to make a steak salad for the trip) and also noticed there’s a small amt of pie crust left.
Think I’ll make a mini quiche or Easter pie with that and it can travel too.

So it’s great to be this far ahead of the game but exactly what am I eating tonight?Uhhhh dunno 😂
Maybe a cheese platter with radishes and quick pickles?
Still have time to make up my mind.

I’m munching on jicama with lime and tajin right now. Think I’ll do a board with more of the same, plus tomato, cucumber, hummus, olives all with the lime/tajin combo. Add in a couple of cheeses and some griddled mitad y mitad tortillas wedges and we have a nice summer platter for dinner tonight.

I took my dad out to lunch today for Father’s Day. He wanted to avoid the crowds tomorrow.

I had scallops over risotto and clam chowder. It was delicious and I’m not sure I’ll be hungry for dinner.

It's Father's Day, so SIL's parents are coming for supper. We are having stupidly expensive 1" thick grass-fed angus strip steaks on the grill with corn on the cob and a tomato/mozzarella salad on baguette slices. DD made Boston cream pie for dessert. I have finally caught the ear/sinus/throat thing that's been going around and couldn't care less about what day it is or what dinner is. I just want to sleep.

A hamburger topped with sliced avocado, sun-dried tomato jam, carmelised onions and mushrooms.
Wish I still had some cottage cheese (my fav burger condiment!) but used the end of it in the avocado soup earlier this week. Oh well, the fridge is definitely emptying out and I used some thin sliced cabbage and carrot slaw to replace the cheese instead.

Father’s Day so we had steamed crabs (we’re in Maryland and do this every Father’s Day) grilled chicken, corn on cob, my Mac and cheese, crab dip, and dessert was watermelon, banana pudding (magnolia bakery’s recipe-so good), chocolate pie and cheesecake. We’ll be having it again for tomorrows dinner because there’s a ton left.

Cheeseburgers (hamburger for DH, black bean for me), pasta salad, tossed salad with the last of the red lettuce we grew. I am attempting to make strawberry sorbet for dessert.

Potage Crécy (aka purée of carrot soup) in honor of Tata Louise, the great grand aunt of my children who began and encouraged my love of her native cuisine.

Didn’t realize her birthday was this week until I discussed pulling a ziplock bag of soup out of the freezer with DGD. Apparently, members of the family will be visiting her grave this month. How nice that she is being celebrated on two continents!

I’m a lazy lima bean today so only serving broiled lamb chops with the soup.
