Monday 13th December
Today we were going home and our plan of having a swim in the pool to say goodbye to the sun was well and truly thwarted by the weather !! Oh well never mind !!
I needed to head to Downtown Disney to get the last few bits and pieces for gifts that we hadnt managed to buy yet.
Wayne was feeling a lot brighter and just said he was going to take it easy on the food front today "Just In Case !!"
Whilst driving to Downtown disney my dashboard illuminated with warning lights and this resulted in me saying if it drives ok im not pulling over and wayne flicking through the manual to try to find what the lights meant!!!
I pulled into downtown disney and phoned Peter at Car on the drive to ask advice he explained it was the automatic sensors on the wheels that just cant function in the extreme cold we were experiencing. He asked if it drove ok and just said check that we didnt actually have a flat tyre anywhere and if not it was fine to ignore it !! Phew !!
Well extreme cold really does sum it up today and after a quick trip to World of Disney we practically ran back to the car and turned heaters on full !!
Back at the villa I made Lunch from all the bits and bobs we had left in the freezer and Wayne packed!! I could hear him getting more and more frustrated by the fact it just wasnt all going in!! We hadnt bought mch but what we had bought seemed to be bulky and when wayne eventually fit it all into our 3 cases he declared it was nothing short of a miracle!!
We had finished with just half an hour to spare before we were being collected to be taken to the airport. Wayne was doing a swoop of the house to check there was nothing else hiding under beds etc and I took myself outside and sat on a lounger by the pool. This holiday had been perfect in everyway and I was so sad to be leaving. I have to admit i shed a few tears sitting here as I thought about how on earth we were ever going to tell the story of this amazing holiday.
This is the only place on earth that can acheive the ultimate relaxation and smiles that as a family we need. For the last 3 weeks I had watched all my kids be kids and I was dreading hitting reality when we landed back home. I wiped my tears and vowed we would be back no matter what it took!!
So a knock at the door and Peter helps take all our luggage to the car and I strap all kids in then we were on our way.
The Car on the drive service is amazing and yes it cost us a little extra than normal car hire but it took all the stress out of the arrival and first drive to the villa. I always have kittens at the airport on return trying to find the right place to return the car and this time that just wasnt an issue. Peter chatted along as he drove and it really was the best way to get to the airport. I higly reccomend this service if you are looking for a stress free way to hire a car.
It was uneventful at check in and we were sooning boarding the plane.
Now on boarding the flight the crew were handing everyone sick bags - this rang alarm bells with me but I played it down as I didnt want the kids to pick up on my fear!!!
Then we sat on the tarmac whilst a million virgin personnal argue with a couple in Premuim Economy. I know from experience that to fly with virgin they make you go through a million hoops to get a medical team agree you can fly. The guy in front obviously had a medical condition and had not finished the tedious paperwork and the crew were told he wasnt allowed to fly ! He however was insiting his drs note was enough and he wasnt getting off the plane.
This went on for an hour and a half and short of dragging them off myself I could do nothing but watch it unfold.
I have sympathy for the couple who clearly felt they had been wronged but it was so obvious that there was no way the crew onboard would ever take responsibilty for a HIGH RISK passenger so there was little point arguing until they had finished the process. The only thing I will say in the passengers defence was How on earth did they manage to board the plane?? surely it should have been dealt with at check in??
Eventually we were on our way and my relief at finally getting into the air was short lived !! About an hour into the flight the seatbelt sign came on followed quickly by the pilot asking cabin crew to be seated !! As the member of crew passed us she told us to do Keira up really tight as it was about to get like we were riding a roller coaster!! My face must have fell as she backtracked a bit and just said do her up tight !! She then tightened the boys belts up and disappeared to her seat.
OMG it was like riding an hour on tower of terror we were flying through a lightning storm and you could see the lightning all around us !! People were screaming and throwing up around us. I was sat holding so tight onto the chair and waynes hand and trying sooo hard not to burst into tears I was petrified. The boys behind us kept saying they didnt like it and we couldnt do anything to reassure them. Keira shouted at one point "Are we going up or down??""
Which as you can imagine was dead helpful when I was already thinking I was going to die !!
I have never been so grateful to land back in the uk in my life !!
So thats it we are home and we have had a holiday Jam packed full of memories.
Thanks for reading along and leaving comments - I love to read the replies and thoughts on our days.
Until next time . . .
