Today was a late lazy start as we were heading to MVMCP tonight and I didnt want the kids to burn out too early. We basically lazed around the villa until around 2 ish when we drove to saratoga springs resort to check in for the night! (Big thanks to Jetsfan for sorting this for us!)
We arrived at saratoga at around 2.30 and had the most bizzare checkin agent!
He asked me If we had been slumming it for the rest of our stay at an awful Holiday Inn? Then he told me his wife was an awful wife and had missed the delivery of his new pc and he was less than impressed that he was stuck checking people in until 5pm so he would not be able to sort it out !! I just stood there smiling at him the whole time thinking what on earth do I say to that ???
So he checked us in and every child is called Benjamin but hey ho we are free to go find our room or so I thought!! I have never stayed in a disney resort before and I presumed as he had handed me the map and there was a number scribbled down on my kttw that we could get into our room.
So we drove round to the building only to find that every room started with room number 32! There was a maintenence man and he told us that was the building number and we needed to know the last 2 digits to identify the room !! He phoned through to main desk for us and he was told our room was not ready and we needed to busy ourselves until it was!!
So we had a wonder around the huge resort and the kids were given some rubber ducks from the lifeguards and their height in stickers from a lovely cm who enquired if we were lost !!
At 3.30 I went back to main desk as we had just seen the housekeepers leave our building, again I was told that the room was not ready ! So I asked them if they could issue our MVMCP tickets which she did with little fuss. I told her we really wanted to be there for 4pm so we could make the most out of magic kingdom before the party started. She checked again at 3.59 and the computer still said our room wasnt ready!! I asked rather firmly if she would phone and check as we had seen house keeping leave and at this rate we would never get to magic kingdom!!
Then voila after a phone call we find the room has been ready since 1pm but is not updated on the computer !! grrrrr
So we make a quick dash over to dump all our stuff in the room and then ran back to a bus stop to get the bus into MK!!
We were soon at Magic Kingdom and collecting our wristbands for the party entry!
We made our way over to Tommorowland where the kids were desperate to ride Stitch and Buzz lightyear again. Then we went into the Laugh floor where Dan was chosen and put on screen! He was grinning from ear to ear and even told Mike that he didnt think he was that funny !!
When we came out it had gone dark and the castle lighting ceremony was starting in just 5 minutes !! It was also bitterly cold so everyone got their winter coats and wrapped up warm whilst we waited for the castle to magically light up!!
It was pretty amazing to be honest and even my moaning boys gasped when the lights came on !!
We then rode the magic carpets and froze as we zoomed around, looking for a bit of warmth we head straight into the pirates of the carribean which Keira loved !! I was impressed with the additions of Jack Sparrow - a bit of eye candy never goes a miss.
When we exited we noticed Captain Hook standing all alone so Keira had to go say Hello.As we got closer she got less and less brave to the point that when we reached him we had to coax her to go say hi.
As we walked away from Hook the boys asked if we could ride Big thunder mountain - well ok why not!!
Well this ride is amazing in the dark and we all enjoyed it so much we went on 4 times in a row. It was literally walk on and nearly ever single ride was exclusively us!!
In frontierland we joined Jessie and Woody in the dance party. There was a cracking atmosphere in here and the 10 minutes we spent in here was with a massive smile and Kiera was in awe that Jessie could dance so well!!
When we came out Donald and some old bear were waiting for people to meet them. Keira insisted that the dirty old bear needed a hug -Im still unsure who he was but it didnt look too cuddly to me.
Now we all agree at the next hot chocolate stand we were filling up on something warm and wet! I have to say we were impressed with the hot choc and they even had cookies for Keira.
We sat now and waited for the tommorowland xmas show and the cms were getting us singing christmas carols. I loved watching my kids singing their little hearts out and at one point Ben said "Mom shhh they cant hear me !"
This show is well worth waiting for and we were all smiling from ear to ear - so much fun !!
We then realised the fireworks were starting in just 10 minutes and I definatly didnt want to miss those! so we settled for a really nice spot by the rose garden to watch. Ben found the only bit of fence that was actually a gate and as he leant on it ended up sitting on his backside on the floor!! Too funny watching his face when he realsied how unlucky he was to lean on that part of the fence!!
Christmas Wishes was quite simply breathtaking and I can honestly say moved me to tears. There is no other place I would rather be than huddled together with my family watching fireworks over cinderella castle !! Truly amazing moment!!
Straight after Wishes we made our way to Frontierland to find a spot for the second parade that started in 20 minutes time. We were sooo cold by now that we wanted to find something other than the floor to sit on !! We found a lovely wall and huddled together. I looked at Keira who was by now fast asleep all cuddled up to Dizzy.It was so cute !!
Daniel declared he was getting very tired now so wayne kept making him dance to the christmas music piped in to the park. Daniel was laughing soo much
Then wayne stopped and instantly Dan cuddled up and fell asleep.
The parade was starting now so we decided to sit it out and enjoy the parde with the children that are awake !!
So magical and truly the best parade I have ever seen! The smells of the candy, gingerbread and Marzipan as the floats passed by just made the whole parade so christmassy. Im so glad we stayed to watch.
As soon as we could we made our way out of Magic Kingdom catching the snow that was falling as we walked. A really magical night that we all enjoyed and I would definatly do again. We hadnt see the characters we had planned on seeing, but what we had done had put the biggest smile on all 6 faces and that was all that was important !!
Cam and Dan fell asleep on the bus before we even left the Magic Kingdom, both of them leaning on a lady who seemed quite upset that they were leaning on her but there was nothing we could do! I was sat opposite with Keira fast asleep on my lap and wayne was penned into the corner holding the buggy !! Oh well it made me titter as no amount of her trying to wriggle free worked
Finally back into the room at 1am and we all crashed out instantly.
