Dinner at Boatwright's Dining Hall

It was another LONG day of house hunting and we realized we found ONLY one house that we truly loved. We spent the whole day in the Poinciana area and realized we did not like it at all, so our decision was made! It was another dreary and rainy day in Orlando and I was glad to make it back to Port Orleans because we had dinner reservations at Boatwright's Dining Hall, which is over at Riverside. I was looking forward to making it to the other side of Port Orleans. We left the Boys in the room again for the day because they hate house hunting more than we do! We got back to our room and I now know why the Boys were so happy to spend all day in the room!

They were busy inviting friends over and sledding around the room! :rotfl2: They got caught too!

I got the Boys ready for dinner because they had made quite a mess of themselves! :rotfl: We left just in time for our reservation and we made the stroll in the rain over to Boatwright's. Port Orleans really is one of the most beautiful resorts and I loved every thing about it! It was so lovely to stroll next to the water on the way over to the Riverside. Riverside was almost like walking through the woods because of all the trees and it was a whole new atmosphere compared to the French Quarter. We loved it!

We arrived to Boatwright's and it was also right on the water! There was a horse and carriage outside on the dock area and it was such a beautiful setting!

We checked-in and were seated quickly. I walked over to see the Christmas tree, but I quickly had to rush back over to get seated. The restaurant was pretty cool and we got seated underneath the boat that literally takes-up half of the ceiling.

I was once again craving a milkshake! I do love my milkshakes! I decided to go with chocolate this time! ;)

n25002324_31404468_8083.jpg

We had a wonderful waiter and our meal began with the best cornbread muffins I've ever had! DH doesn't like cornbread, so that meant more for me! :goodvibes

n25002324_31404469_8409.jpg

I saw that they had onion rings under the appetizers, so I knew we had to order them! I must say that these were also the best onion rings I've had in a long time! They were fantastic and so were the dipping sauces! Mmmmmm...mmmmm good! I only wish there had been more because DH and I dug into the pile way too quickly! :lmao:

n25002324_31404470_8691.jpg

There were not many options for me on the menu, but I decided the milkshake, appetizer, and dessert (that I knew I was going to order) would fill me up! I ordered the French onion soup and Southern green beans and DH ordered the sirloin steak, which I forgot to take a picture of.

n25002324_31404471_8971.jpg

We really enjoyed our meal and I was ready for dessert! DH said he was full and didn't want any, but that wasn't stopping me! :rotfl2: I decided on the apple pie and it was like your own little apple pie! It was very fresh and tasty and the vanilla bean ice cream was wonderful too!

We had a great dinner and we also had wonderful service, so we give Boatwright's Dining Hall two thumbs-up! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I'm really looking forward to going to POFQ!!!! I haven't heard anything bad about it; all I hear is that it's really beautiful! Our last trip was spent at ASSp which was pretty good but near the end we were getting a little sick of it. I don't know how much more time we'll be spending at POFQ but at least we'll want to spend more time around there. Guess what? I've got a countdown on my countdown....I'm sure you're probably wondering how that works but I'm counting down until I can do the double digit dance. I'll give you a preview....

Pretty good eh?

Anywho...

Thanks for the great trippie, you're doing an awesome job.

BTW....back to your hating snow thing, I'd much rather have snow than -25 deg. C temperature (that's about -13 deg F:thumbsup2 ). By the sounds of things that's what we're going to get into next week :scared1:

Another great installment, all the food at Boatwright's looked yummmmmy!!! Oh yeah and I now that you posted the pics of Ross and Rachel I can totally see why you guys get stopped by random strangers--that is too cute! Have a wonderful weekend!! :)

I love Rosie and loved that doll! I got it for Chritmas and my Mom was at Toy "R" Us at 5:00am to get it! :rotfl2: *N SYNC has been around for a long time! About 12 years now. Yes, I know this because I am a fanatical Backstreet Boys fan and know way too much! I am not a fan of *N SYNC ro every was, but kept an eye on them because they were competition! :lmao: I'm insane, I know this!

Yes, I got that close to Steven and a few other celebrities. Rosie gave us free passes to Islands of Adventure as our audience prize! The park had not opened to the public yet, so it was just Rosie's audience, press, and celebrities there to promote the new park. A lot of the cast from "Jurassic Park" was there and Steven, of course! Plus, Whitney Houston (she yelled at me for taking a picture...haha!), Eddie Murphy, Rosie, of course, and people from all the entertainment shows. There were a few others, but I can't remember now. This was in May of 1999! :)

i have to say, i was never a fan of the boy bands, unless you count nkotb. :rotfl: i had the biggest crush on joey mcintyre. :cloud9: how lame! haha.

my mom and i always wanted to go see a rosie show. we used to love her. we never got the chance though. :guilty: now i want to go see ellen soo bad.

ps. i've got facebook if you want a new friend. :flower3:

YEAH THE CORNBREAD!!!! I totally forgot to mention that!

That was one of my faves when we were down last! You can't get that stuff up here. DW didn't like it though, she said it looked like cupcakes but tasted much different. Kinda true I guess but that stuff is unbelieveable!

Still a great report!!! I am still reading, I just haven't been posting. Keep writing and good luck with your house.

I have to say, every time you post pictures of food, I get super hungry! Now I want a milkshake and some apple pie. :rotfl2: :rotfl:
Also, Port Orleans looks beautiful! I would love to stay there sometime, it just seems so calming and relaxing.
Great installment!:goodvibes

Another great installment!!! The picture of Micky sledding was too cute! Those onion rings look really yummy. Can't wait to read more of the trippie!

Okay-it's official. Your trip report is AWESOME! I love the idea of the stowaways. I may be borrowing that idea for the next time we go to the 'World.

Thanks so much for sharing :)

Thanks so much!!! Glad you are joining and LOVING it! I'll have more Trippies coming after I finish this one, so be on the look out! :magnify:

Aw, you two are just TOO CUTE!! You do look like Ross and Rachel!:goodvibes
Thank you for the updates! You are so busy and yet you still post everyday! Thank you so much! I always look forward to seeing what you have posted! Thanks for my daily Disney fix!

Awwww...thank you! :cutie: And...you are WELCOME!

You got the Banana Dance going! :woohoo:

Lookin' good! :thumbsup2
You are going to LOVE POFQ! I think it's even better than a lot of the "upscale" resorts and I know what you mean about the Values. I get sick of them too and that's why I knew I couldn't stay at one while we were house-hunting. I wanted to be able to relax! :cloud9: When we were at All-Star Sports it was the time for all the cheerleaders!! :scared1: :scared1:
That's all I gotta say about that! :rotfl2: It was time to go!
Sorry about all that cold! It's warm and humid here! It's in the 70's! I'm sorry, I'm really not trying to rub it in. :) My DH's entire family is from Canada and he's been there a few times.

Thanks! :) You have a wonderful weekend too! I've had a stressful, but very exciting day! I'm off to see my new favorite movie now for the second time, "The Holiday!" I LOVE it! DH and I are double dating with my parents! :rotfl2:

I love NKOTB! I wasn't really into them like all the other girls were when I was younger. I was a M.C. Hammer fan at the time! :lmao: I actually met Jordan Knight a few years ago! He was my fav! My best friend loved Joey and had all the dolls! :rotfl:
I do want a new Facebook friend! Send me you name or go find me! I'm under Gravel...Lindsey Johnson Gravel! :goodvibes

Lindsey...sometime you must go back to POR & do the horse & carriage ride. You mentioned seeing the horse & carriage when you arrived for dinner. I arranged it for DH & I on Valentine's Day in 2005 & it was so romantic going down by the river to POFQ in the carriage. Just put that on your to do list!!!!

I know how you feel! I feel the same way looking at my own pics! :rotfl2: Plus, the post of all the Disney food makes my mouth water! It was the worst when I had my wisdom teeth out and couldn't eat. It was torture!!

We were thinking about going for a ride! DH actually brought up the idea, but the weather wasn't too great at that moment. We are going to add it to the list! :thumbsup2 I think we'll save it for a special occasion too! ;)

Port Orleans-Riverside

We went exploring around Riverside and found that there was much more to do here!

n25002324_31404473_9537.jpg

The gift shop was huge and there were so many things to buy that I had never seen before! They had some of the cutest Christmas items I had seen!

n25002324_31404475_162.jpg

The store had a really strong smell in it, not a bad smell, but a potpourri smell that they were spraying out into the store. Well, DH obviously was allergic to it and started having an attack! His eyes were watering, his nose started running, and he literally was sneezing every second. It was quite funny actually. I couldn't believe he was allergic to the good smell! :rotfl2: I admit that it was pretty strong and the strongest sent I have ever smelled at WDW. It was on overdrive! DH couldn't take it and had to leave to go to the bathroom to take care of his face. I could hear him across the entire store. He came back in and his entire face was red and runny. Poor DH! I told him to get some candy because I knew that would make him feel a lot better! :goodvibes

We spent the rest of the evening strolling around Riverside and checking out the pool and playgrounds. It reminded me a lot of the old River Country. It was great! Oh, I also have to show you how all the public bathrooms were over at Port Orleans. I thought it was such a neat touch! After DH and I went to the restrooms for the first time we both came out and asked about the toilets! :rotfl2:

Just wanted to give everyone the exciting news!

DH and I spent about two and a half hours today signing and getting papers notarized for our new home! I placed the large stack of papers in a Fed-Ex envelope and mailed them out this afternoon. They will arrive in Florida on Monday and the house will be ours!

We are so excited and cannot wait to start our new life in our first home together!

I have almost finished packing the entire apartment, there is just a little left here and there that I'll finish packing by Tuesday. The countdown is really on now! We're moving to Florida!

Your poor DH with his reaction! Did the candy help? :)

The toliet's are pretty neat....I forgot that they were like that there.

Congrats!! Now you can make your hubby into a true Floridian. Don't forget to come to the west coast and check out Tampa-St Pete-Clearwater. If you ever go to Busch Gardens and go on Rhino Rally, look for my DS20, he is one of the drivers and goes by the character name of "Dr Livingston".

Trip report still rules! And great news about getting the paperwork done, and mega-congrats again. I'm so excited for you! My jealousy will only increase as you post updates of your amazing new life in Orlando and your upcoming Disney adventures. But it's *happy* jealousy! :cool1:

BTW, the NC Zoo is in Asheboro...Biltmore is in Asheville. The Asheboro zoo is pretty cool - lots of space for the animals and noble efforts to create "natural" habitats for them. It's like Kilimanjaro Safaris in parts!

Good luck with everything! I hope The Boys don't find the move too stressful!!
