We've FALLen for WDW...An October 2010 PTR! New 10/14 TR Link Added

I hope everyone had a great weekend. We did NOTHING and I loved every minute of it. It was so relaxing to catch up on budgeting and do some sewing. We must have watched close to 8 movies between yesterday and today. :) Here is a few pictures of the tote bag I made today for my sister-in-law's birthday.

This is the second tote bag I've made and it definitely turned out better than the first! I made it a few inches taller and an extra inch or two wider. I also sewed both sides of the strap so it looks more finished. I also figured out how to sew the boxed edges better. I added an extra pocket on the front. It's perfectly sized for a cell phone or iPod. I am looking forward to making my next project: my TOTE bag for Disney World. I have Minnie Mouse fabric (red with white polka dots) and I am going to cut out Mickey heads and sew them onto the fabric. I plan to use it as my carry-on and perhaps as an alternative to my hipster a few evenings. :goodvibes That is my project this week and I will be sure to post pictures when it is finished!

I am definitely at a lull point before the trip. It's too soon to pack but too far away to get really excited. I am hoping a gift card rebate we are getting from Greg's cell phone will be coming in the mail within the next week or two. Then I can at least go shopping to get the few things we need for the trip. I want to buy a pair of white tennis shoes. I love wearing flip flops but wearing flip flops and walking miles each day makes my feet ache so bad. I'll probably wear flip flops when we only go to the parks in the evening or when we come back to our room before going out for the evening.

Anywho, I am going to work on my next day plans right now! I also think I might steal Charlefours' idea and list specific things I am most looking forward to this trip. I think it will be a Top 10 List. :)

Day 5

This morning we have one of our most anticipated breakfast ADR’s of the trip: Boma!!! I can just taste the banana bread, potatoes, and scrambled eggs with goat cheese and chives. (I really wish I could..HUMPH!)

I would like to explore the resort either before or after our breakfast as I love the lobby and want to see more of the resort. Our next trip I am leaning towards renting points from a DVC owner and AKL is one of the resorts on the top of my list to stay at. Anywho, after our delicious breakfast we will head to AK for the afternoon.

Due to our late morning breakfast ADR we will have a late lunch. I know I’ll want FTBBQ but DH might want to try Yak & Yeti Counter Service. Perhaps we can share.

We plan on staying until closing or until we do everything we want, whichever comes first. After AK we will head back to CSR to freshen up before catching a bus to DTD for dinner at WGPE and some souvenir and window shopping. Perhaps we will stop at Ghirardelli and get a sundae to share. Depending on what time it is, how our spending budget is and how we feel we may go see a movie. We love to go to the movies and seeing a movie on vacation would be awesome. (I will also keep this activity in mind if it is rainy on one of our relaxing mornings/afternoons.)

We have NEVER found the Dig Site too crowded; but we also like spending time at the quiet pools as well. We've been in the Dig Site pool and the hot tub as late as midnight.

Good to know! :) I am soooooo looking forward to this trip. I just want it to be here already! The kids go back to school tomorrow and Tuesday so I am back on my regular schedule and I am so excited! :cool1: Less than a month for you and less than 6 weeks for me! Woo Hoo!

That bag is really cute! :lovestruc Have you considered opening an Etsy account at all?

Thanks! I have considered making an Etsy account, I just don't think my skills are up to par with many of the people who post on Etsy. Perhaps after I make a few more bags and perfect my technique I will. I would be happy to make bags for anyone here on the DIS if they asked me, however. (However, I know we aren't supposed to charge for them here on the DIS.)

Well, I think a lot of the people who post on Etsy consider themselves pros. One thing I'd do if I ever opened an account there would just be to not make it until someone buys it :lmao: That way, if it doesn't sell, I'm not out that money. I'm also not crafty, though. I just bake :rotfl: If I was in need of a bag, I'd ask (and offer to send cookies or something in exchange), but I just bought one for my trip.

I can't believe it -- 3 weeks, five days. I'm so excited.

You are going to LOVE Boma -- we went last year and we fell in love with it and are going back this year.

We already LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Boma!!! This will be our third time. :)

You'd be surprised how little you can make a bag for. I have all of the material to make 2 of the Mickey tote bags and it cost me around $10 for both. JoAnn's was running a big sale a while back and I stocked up on enough material to make 4 or 5 bags! :)

My mom has a TON of material upstairs, so I keep poking her toward opening an Etsy account to make bags or something, but she never does :lmao:

Yeah, my mom gave me a bunch of old material she hasn't used in years. Some of it I may end up using some day but I think a lot of it will be used for me to practice when I make new things. :) I tend to go through spurts with my crafts. The sewing machine has been my craft of choice lately as I recently learned how to use one in the correct way (besides just playing around when I was younger). I also have an obsession with tote bags, I love them. :goodvibes However, after these next two tote bags are completed, I will probably switch to scrapbooking as I have a little more to do on our engagement album and I used snapfish to print every picture I need to do our wedding shower, wedding, December 2009 Disney trip, our Vegas trip, and our trip to Michigan. There are other albums I'd like to make as well, like one of a bunch of pictures of Greg & I when we were dating, my college years, and perhaps even an album with pictures from my childhood years (including high school). My long term goal is to get all of those albums completed before we have kids...in a few years. :rotfl2:

Don't you just love weekends where you do nothing? I've been having one of those myself and it has been so nice. :goodvibes

Cute tote bag! I so wish I could sew, but sadly, all my attempts have ended badly. :sad2:

It was definitely a great weekend. :) This weekend shouldn't be too bad. Saturday I am going to a Jewelery, Fashion & Accessory show with my aunt and those are always fun. Sunday we are having dinner with Greg's family to celebrate his and our DSIL's birthdays.

The first time I tried sewing again, I had a huge pile of thread from messing up. Actually, I tend to accumulate quite the pile in all of my sewing projects. My machine is new (bought this year) but it is one of the cheapest ones you can get and you can definitely notice it. You have to have patience with it. I got so frustrated with it today that I was talking to it telling it to be good to me. :lmao: I am finally done sewing on the mickey heads to the fabric so I should be finishing up the bag tomorrow. I don't think my cousin's bag is going to have as many mickey heads as mine b/c it took A LOT of time to sew those things on b/c my machine has a mind of it's own!!

I can't wait to see your new bag! The other one you made was really nice!

How cute is that tote, you done a really good job on it :goodvibes

Day 5 sounds great, love an AK day :)

I am hoping to finish it today. All I have left to do is sew it, which is actually the shortest part! Thanks! That was only the 2nd bag I made. I'm actually considering making some to put on Etsy once we get back from Disney. Not necessarily all Disney themed. I figure even if I make 15 or 20 dollars after supply cost, I will put it right into our vacation fund for next year. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I am very pleased in my sewing abilities, it's a very new hobby of mine. :) I love AK too! I'm very excited to explore the park more than I ever have this trip. :) Can you believe our tickers are both almost under one month?! I NEVER thought it would get here, but it is!!

Finally getting a chance to pop over to a few TR this evening...

Are those corn dog nuggets? Just saw in a response--they look pretty good.

Great sheets in your binder!! It is great to be organized!! :thumbsup2

Day Four sounds great to me!! :goodvibes I am really looking forward to the pool at CSR.

The tote bag looks fantastic!!

Its okay--you can steal my idea. ;)

Day 5: will Flame Tree be open for you on your trip? It is closed during our time period.

Comments are in red. :)

Glad that you stopped by! It's exciting how all of our trips are coming up soon. :)

They are indeed corn dog nuggets. They were good. Not amazingly good but good! :) Perfect if you are feeling hungry and need a good-sized snack! :thumbsup2

Great sheets in your binder!! It is great to be organized!! :thumbsup2

Your organizational sheets and such are AMAZING compared to mine. But I've also not uber tech-savvy.

Day Four sounds great to me!! :goodvibes I am really looking forward to the pool at CSR.

Me too! On a s/n: I am a little worried about "mousekeeping" but hopefully we won't have a problem.

The tote bag looks fantastic!!

Thanks. I think the pictures I am about to post of the one I finished tonight everyone on here will really like. ;)

Its okay--you can steal my idea. ;)

Thanks. We'll see if I actually end up doing it. We'll see how many things I can organize around the house before the trip. I made a list the other day. I'm one of those even the junk drawer has to be organized kind of girls. :)

Day 5: will Flame Tree be open for you on your trip? It is closed during our time period.

I think so. I hope so. I don't know what I'll do if it's not!!!

The pictures of the tote bag I am about to show are the results of my VERY hard-yet oh so fun-work in making it. I talked about it with DH today and I decided that I am going to create an Etsy "store" where I will sell tote bags (and maybe crayon rolls) like these both Disney inspired and not. I am going to use all of the money I make on Etsy (if any at all) and put it into a vacation fund for DH and I. S/N: I know we are not supposed to exchange money or sell things here on the DIS. If you would like me to make you a bag just like this one you can PM me and we can exchange emails.

There are 3 pockets. One is perfect sized for a cellphone/iPod (intentionally). The pocket on the front is more for decoration but can be used as well. It doesn't have any sort of closure to it, however.

& finally both bags I made this week together. :)

You can see how the Mickey/Minnie tote is larger than the other one. I wanted my trip binder to fit into the Mickey/Minnie one whereas the other one is intended for my DSIL to use when she goes to the bookstore (her and my DBIL love to do that).

I am not asking you personally but more in general. Do you think these are good enough to post on Etsy? I feel like an amateur compared to many of the people who put their creations on there. However, I also love to make them and I think it could be a great way to make a little money for DH and I's vacation habit. :lmao: Any input would be appreciated!

I really like the Minnie one! It's really cute! :lovestruc You already know that I think you should put them on Etsy :) If I were in need of a park bag, I'd totally offer you cookies or something in exchange for a bag :lmao:

I love the bags! And if I remember, you figured out some things you wanted to do differently with the second bag. So if you are making more, then they would get easier, maybe? (if I am way off, I apologize. I am the complete opposite of crafty)

I don't know too much about Etsy, but I think it would be worth trying to sell some!
