We've FALLen for WDW...An October 2010 PTR! New 10/14 TR Link Added

LOL, I think it's funny you said it was sad just typing up that update because your trip will be half over...if only I had a trip that lasted 6 days! Normally our trips would be over completely!

Yes, you can walk from Epcot to Fantasia Gardens. It is pretty much right across from the Swan and Dolphin. Those would probably be your best bet for getting a cab back too. Unless you want to spend a lot of time riding buses you could go back to Swan/Dolphin, get a bus to DTD, and then get a bus back to CSR! haha

Fantasia Gardens isn't that hard, it's the Fairways course that is hard. I've never played that one. :rolleyes1

This will be our longest time in WDW to date. My other trips were 5 nights, 4 nights, and then 5 nights again. This time it's 8 nights and I couldn't be more excited. Because I like to lay out by the pool and relax I felt we really need a longer trip to see everything AND relax. :goodvibes

Thanks for the info! I guess it all depends on what time we are finished with mini-golfing. If it's not too late maybe we'll just head over to the boardwalk and hang around there for a while and catch a cab from that resort. Who knows.

At least you guys didn't have to buy a new bag :goodvibes I hope the majority of your DBIL and DSIL's honeymoon was good, even if part of it sucked! I may wind up buying another bag at WDW because I have a feeling I'm going to be buying a lot of stuff. I plan on doing my Christmas shopping while I'm there :lmao:

Oh yeah, I forgot :lmao: I'll have to see what time Pop's luggage services close, since I plan on being at DTD somewhat late.

DH got new luggage for Christmas last year, though. There was a big rip on the side (not on the seam) from someone dragging it and it getting snagged on something when they were pulling it out.

They went to Europe for their honeymoon. They missed their connecting flight in NY. Missed their connecting flight b/c it was cancelled in London. Missed their connecting flight in Athens. Some where along the way they ended up in Germany on a plane to make a connection. Obviously their luggage didn't follow them all those places. They were supposed to go from IL to NY to Athens to Santorini and then after a few days go to Paris. I felt so bad for them.

Are you flying southwest? You could have a second bag and just not have very much in it?

I saw on the CSR thread about issues with mousekeeping (but it is not just at CSR evidently). Don't be afraid to speak up!! We are paying good money to stay there, so they want us to be happy. I know it sounds mean, but they cannot fix issues if they do not know about them. :thumbsup2

LOVE  your tote!! I think you should open an Etsy store but just be sure the patterns you are using are ok for retail sale. **read in a response you have decided to go for it!! Looking forward to seeing your shop open. :goodvibes

I definitely made sure the pattern I am currently using says I can sell the bags I make with it. I just can't sell the pattern. :)

I will definitely report it if it is happening. I am a "clean-freak" so if I see somebody else's hair in the shower or garbage on the floor I will be calling/talking to a manager. Also, I won't be giving a $5 mousekeeping tip if I notice issues in the room and have complained and they aren't being taken care of. I worked in the service industry so I know what it means to do your job correctly. Phew! I hope THAT doesn't sound mean. :lmao:

That really sucks :( How did you guys fix it? Duct tape? :lmao:

God, that would drive me crazy. Not only missing the luggage, but all the connections  I hate making connecting flights and almost always try to get non-stop if I can.

I am flying Southwest, yes, but I don't have any bags smaller than a typical checked suitcase besides my carry-on, and I don't want to bring two huge suitcases plus my carry-on and computer bag, you know? I think I'll just keep an eye out when I get there for a duffel bag or something. Plus, it gives me an excuse to buy a Disney bag :lmao:

You know it! Duct tape fixes everything! :lmao: J/K We just couldn't use the front pockets. The hole didn't go all the way through to the main compartment thank goodness!

I hate connecting flights, too. Sometimes they are inevitable. Especially when traveling internationally. Any excuse to buy a Disney bag is a good excuse! :lmao:

There's this great movie I saw recently where one of the characters is talking about some sort of heist and says "There's nothing in this world that the liberal application of duct tape can't solve." :teeth: That's good, then, that it was just damaging to the pockets. It would've been awful if it had gone all the way through.

I've never traveled internationally, but I hope to one day. I was supposed to go to Germany on an exchange trip in high school, but the boy I was exchanging with changed his mind when he met me. He asked to be switched to another family, and then I didn't get to go. But yes, any excuse for a Disney bag is a good excuse :rolleyes1

I got news that I'm getting a pretty good raise today (it is essentially enough to cover my cost of gas weekly) and Greg got a call from a company and they want to set up an interview! Please say a prayer or if that's not your thing-keep your fingers crossed for us. This would be so amazing and much needed! :)

Great news on the raise!! Congrats to you! And good luck to Greg!!

Congrats on the raise, and pixiedust:pixiedust: for the job interview for Greg.

Congrats on the pay rise and fingers crossed for Greg :goodvibes

Day 7

Today we are sleeping in again. (Are you sick of us doing that? I'm not! )

This afternoon, I will do some laundry and start to pack. :laundy: :sad2: As much as I don’t want to do laundry on vacation I’d rather come home with 2 days of laundry instead of 8. Because for me nothing slaps you back into reality after vacation like a big pile of laundry-YUCK! Laying by the pool in between doing laundry will definitely make it better! I can’t do that at home!! We were going to get massages on this day but I just don’t think it’s in our budget and I’m not pulling $$ from our savings for it, I just can’t justify it. Oh well, next time! DH will still have a nice surprise as I have noted his graduation on many of our dinner ADR's. He's worked so hard he deserves the recognition! :)

We’ll head to Epcot for some more Food & Wine fun this evening. This will be our second time around the F&WF this trip so I plan on choosing my favorites and I’m sure Greg will do the same. Although, we’ll skip any sweets because at 7 we’ll head to the World Showcase Pavilion for the 3D Dessert Discovery Party! I am so excited to attend this event. We will be able to try a variety of desserts and sample cordials. (Paraphrased from the description.) We also get VIP Illuminations viewing which will be nice.

After we get back to the resort I think we may go to the hot tub again to relax. We are getting up early the next morning for our last park day. Oh no!

The End.

I leave you with a question. What ideas do you have for rainy day activities? I know Epcot is a good park to go to b/c many of the attractions are inside. There is always the movies. Any other ideas? I want to have back-up plans in case there is rain on our pool days. TIA! :)

I AM opening an Etsy shop! :goodvibes I am working on two totes right now but I have to wait for the interfacing to come in the mail before I can finish them. I have more material coming to to make 4 more. I'll post all 6 bags and a few crayon rolls. I made business cards on vistaprint.com and only had to pay for the shipping. I'll bring some down with me to WDW just in case I get any people really interested in my bag I can hand them one. I searched "mickey tote bag" on Etsy today and there were only 2 pages and none of the bags were like mine. That's a good thing! :) I also ordered fabric labels with my shop name on them to sew on the bags. I'm really excited. Even if I don't earn much money, I'd love for people to be enjoying a bag that I made. :goodvibes

Yay! That's awesome! Good luck with it!

Unless you want to spend a lot of time riding buses you could go back to Swan/Dolphin, get a bus to DTD, and then get a bus back to CSR! haha

This was recommended to me, as well. Take the bus to Epcot, then walk to Swan/Dolphin, then walk across the street to Fantasia Gardens. We've never played Mini Golf in WDW before so we're looking forward to it!

I will definitely report it if it is happening. I am a "clean-freak" so if I see somebody else's hair in the shower or garbage on the floor I will be calling/talking to a manager. Nope, not mean at all! Thankfully, I've never had an issue with room cleanliness at WDW. There was one woman complaining a while ago about her room at POFQ and she was talking about stuff behind the dresser and under the A/C unit....Not for nothing, but I don't go out of my way to SEARCH for things that haven't been cleaned up :confused3 If it's obvious (like hair on the floor or the trash not being emptied), than yeah, I would say something. But otherwise, I'm pretty easy to please!

God, that would drive me crazy. Not only missing the luggage, but all the connections  I hate making connecting flights and almost always try to get non-stop if I can.

I hate layovers, too! I pay the extra money to fly direct. I've never flown internationally and obviously I know that sometimes they can't be avoided. But when I can avoid it, I do!

You can have one carry-on PLUS a personal item, so you can always check your luggage, and take a duffle bag, and whatever your regular carry-on is, onto the plane with you. I brought my purse and my backpack last year, and the year before that I brought my backpack and a Disney duffle bag on the plane with me and checked my larger suitcase.

I got news that I'm getting a pretty good raise today (it is essentially enough to cover my cost of gas weekly) and Greg got a call from a company and they want to set up an interview! Please say a prayer or if that's not your thing-keep your fingers crossed for us. This would be so amazing and much needed! :)

Yay for a pay raise! I won't get one until March when I have my yearly review. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Greg! I actually just applied for a new job yesterday.... We're getting laid off next year anyway and it's been miserable around her lately with all the layoffs that have already happened. Things just aren't the same so I figured what the heck. The only thing that sucks is that we only have 1 car and the job I applied for is an hour away. But we'll figure it out if need be!

Day 7

Because for me nothing slaps you back into reality after vacation like a big pile of laundry-YUCK! Laying by the pool in between doing laundry will definitely make it better!

This is what I'm doing too! I didn't want to ever do laundry on vacation, but last year, we came home with 10 days worth of laundry and had to go back to work the next day so I didn't have the time to wash anything! I'd much rather wash it on vacation and go home and just put it away. Plus, it gave me an excuse to schedule an "off" day, and I'll actually be able to explore CSR and lounge by the pool! I ordered a new bathing suit last night specifically for this purpose! :goodvibes

We were actually at Typhoon Lagoon on a rainy day and it wasn't bad. The lines were shorter, and the lines at quick service were also short. There seemed to be plenty of places to go when there was a downpour, but when it's just sprinkling, you're already wet, so ride the slides or play in the surf!

Another suggestion would be DisneyQuest or maybe shopping at Downtown Disney.

I would suggest a park on a rainy day as it should be kinda empty and there's something about walking around MK when its raining, don't know what, but its kinda cool :teeth: Otherwise, check out the arcade in the resort maybe :)

Comments are in red!

Yay! That's awesome! Good luck with it!

Thanks! I'm already frustrated with the crayon rolls. The velcro is causing my machine to bunch up. I think I am going to hand sew them on. Other than that they look great! I was waiting on my interfacing to come in the mail and it got here yesterday so now I can start on my tote bags. That's what I'm most excited for!!!

We'll already be in Epcot for our dinner so I am glad that we can walk from there! I haven't either-SO excited!!!

It's vacation and it's not my house so I don't go looking for dirt either. Hopefully it'll be okay!

I'm keeping mine crossed, too. This company sounds so much more interesting than what he does now and it's in the city, which is neat b/c he can just take the train from the town over every day.

UGH! I know the feeling! In Disney, we go through a lot of clothes b/c of all the walking and sweating. Yuck!

That's a good idea but we don't have waterpark passes included in our tickets and I don't think we can budget the money last minute to go. It's definitely on my next time to do list!

Thanks for the suggestion!

I can imagine it now. I'm excited! :) That is a good idea to go to the arcade. We never use those passes.

Today I finally get to do the ONE MONTH dance!!!!

:woohoo::yay::banana::cheer2::cool1::hyper::dancer::jumping1:

On a lighter now, I was contacted by two families on sittercity.com (This site is where I found my full-time babysitting job!) to interview to be their occasional weekend babysitter! I'm very excited!
