We've become *that* family

Yay! Let your Disney Freak flag fly! I used to get the "again?!" remarks from my brother and parents, but now that I have brought them along on the last two trips, they are anxiously awaiting our 2017 trip LOL. People are especially baffled that I have two trips scheduled. This upcoming September one is for me and my DD8, and next year is for me, DD8, parents, brother and his family. We are all very excited and I am happy to have them be a part of this cult lol

:worship: Almost cut my hair, it happened just the other day. It's getting' kinda long... :hippie:

I remember before our first family trip in 2005 I complained to DW "What the heck are we going to do at an amusement park for five days  We'll we fell hard for the place that year :o and have been back every year since. Agree with PP that once you join DVC you don't have to explain repeat trips so much. Anyway, I don't really care if anyone's shaking their head behind my back :scratchin. I stay at beautiful resorts, eat great meals, and I'm entertained from morning until late night...booyah  !!

and the best part...it's only 19 days away again

We became "that family" in 2001, have been at least once every year since. My son was 6 on his first trip and he's now 21 and in college. Virtually all of our family photos are at WDW!

It's now just me and DH and we are still going to Disney. We went on a Carnival cruise in late January out of Port Canaveral, I knew I couldn't go through the Orlando airport and not go to Disney, so we had a few days there after the cruise. Currently we have a FD/MNSSHP trip lined up for this September for me and DH. Also planning to take DS next May once his semester ends.

The ones that get looked at funny because we're planning on going back to Disney only two years after our last trip. In-laws don't quite "get" it. Don't see how they'll possibly get as much out of it as their last trip (which was their first trip ever and there was lots we didnt do). To them "there's many other places theyd enjoy just as much". ;)

I just smile and remind them that Disney is where the kids want to go, so Disney is where we're going to go.

I can't wait, nor can they, lol. At least a couple times a week the topic cones up and they talk about what rides they want to do.
We are that family, too. However, we get even funnier looks. Disney is NOT the place our kids want to go. They want to go to a cabin at the lake or a resort. We are a whole other.level of odd family

When DD was younger I could always say that it was really where she wanted to go! We'd go at least once a year.... twice if we could. But in the last 4 or 5 years since she went away to college etc..... I started going solo.... got an AP and go 3-4 times a year!!! :yay: But then of course I started getting "you are going WHERE?? AGAIN?? ALONE???" .... So.... I got to the point I just don't tell anyone!!! .... Well, I do tell my DD .... in case of emergency! But she is the only one that understands and gets excited for me!!!! :daisy:

We're becoming "that" family too. We went for one day (to MK) in 2014 with our 4 yo DD before heading to St. Augustine to visit family. Then in 2015 we were planning a cancun vacation, but then decided on Disney again since there was so much we missed. Went for 5 days, all 4 parks this time with 5 yo DD and 9 month old DS. Lovely trip, swore we wouldn't go back until DS was 3-4 yo/Star Wars land was done.

We are going back next year for 10 days and taking my parents:banana:

What's cracks me up is each time I thought I would have to really sell it to DH...but he's totally been on board every time. We're obsessed!

Count us in as "that family" too! Our boys are just as obsessed as we are. We go every August before school starts, this is how we get re-energized to make it through the year. Our 8 yr old asks me just about every day what our countdown is to our trip. We start planning our next trip almost as soon as we get back! Some people go to the beach each summer, we go to Disney each summer. To each their own, I will justify it to no one! LOL I just smile when people say again!

Yeah it is going to be awhile when the next trip isn't already booked before the current trip starts. I imagine the pace will slow down in a few years but my DD is 6 right now so in prime Disney years. Live in the midwest but with DVC/gold annual pass/Southwest airlines points we will make 4 trips from June-June. Two of them only 4 days. I'm not even convinced it isn't too much so I can understand any reactions that may come up.

I'm just amazed that anyone would comment on a second visit to the same vacation destination.

Yup. My 3rd, but only their 2nd. But they just can't imagine why we'd want to go back so soon. I think it boils down to they want to go on vacation with us, but "they" don't want to go back to Disney. And that said, FIL is all for it but not MIL.

Not only are we that family but this summer hwe are doing a trip with my extended family which includes our biggest vacation critics my brother and sister in law. For years I have been questioned about why we would do Disney more than once and that there is more to the world. Well they are singing a different tune this year While planning for 19 has been challenging the easiest to work with are my brother and his wife. They are actually grateful I am doing all the work and have praised me non- stop. They literally will arrive at Disney to their turn key vacation. We are sharing a two bedroom so I hope they are just as happy in the summer!

The best part is since they travel the world for real experiences their kids for years have watched their cousins go the one place they couldn't ....an amusement park called Disney World. I do believe my nieces are more excited for our family trip to Disney in August than the African safari they are going on in July. And this auntie is determined to make it one of their best trips ever!

We became that family several years ago. We would go two or three times a year. The funny thing is that some of the people that make fun of you are the people that go to the beach every year. We did the beach thing for a while and it got boring real quick. I just wish we lived a few hours closer...

I could handle a day or two at the beach, tops. I love it, but I couldnt do it day after day.

Don't feel bad! We have a WDW trip planned for September 2016, a California and Disneyland trip in March 2017, and a Disney cruise planned in September 2017! And we don't have children, so it's just me and the hubby! We're in our early thirties and get this kind of response regularly, but we have a great time and have made amazing memories!

I think I just found a kindred spirit!

We are *THAT* family too. But you know what? From June 13 to June 26 all my friends and extended family will once again be jealous and wish they was part of THAT family just like they were jealous 2 years ago and 4 years ago and 6 years ago etc.. Well you get my point.
