Wet, Sweat, Fun & Sun But You Have HOW Many Snack Credits Left?

After getting out of the Lion King show early, we decided to head towards the Kali River area. That was our next FP+ selection. It started to rain, so we found some cover next to a fountain (that kids & adults like to splash everywhere). These are random pictures as we headed that direction.

Tree of Life

Lizard!!

We saw Baloo & King Louie pass by.

While most of us were under cover, Mike was out taking pictures of the monkeys near by.

Flower, the fountain, etc.

More monkeys and around the shelter with the fountain.

We decided to have a Mickey Ice Cream Bar.

I guess we actually went and got a DAS return time instead of waiting for the FP+ time as it was late afternoon for that one. A few more pics as we waited.

We went over and got in line for Kali River......Shyann & I wore ponchos but Michayla wasn't interested. I was smart to pack a change of clothes for everyone, as we knew that we would be wet after this ride. Derek hates this ride, so he kept the camera and wheelchairs with him and the rest of us took our ride. If anyone of you have taken this ride from the wheelchair entrance, then you know.....not only do you get totally soaked on the ride, but then to get the ride vehicle back into it's special loading dock.....it does a huge blast of water to push the raft and if you happened to get thru the ride sort of dry....this will make sure that you leave dripping!! So I much prefer Disney's California Adventure Grizzly River Run ride to this one. I won't have to repeat this ride anytime soon.

Shy and I changed and we headed to Expedition Everest to do our FP+ ride and it got shut down due to lightening. So we decided to head out of the park. It was pouring at this point and by the time we hit the restrooms near the entrance.....everyone was dripping wet again.

The rest of the group hadn't changed clothes, so they did that while I fed Michayla. We headed out of the park and to the buses. We were heading to Port Orlean's Riverside for a dinner ADR.

We got out to the bus stop for POR and again were dripping from the torrential downpour we were experiencing. As most of you know, the buses are kept quite cold....they do this to kill germs. Nothing like your hair dripping down your back and having the A/C blasting you!! Brrrrrr.........

We arrived at POR and got out to hang out in the lobby until our dinner time. We had just over an hour to kill. These are pictures Mike got as we waited and warmed up.

Inside the gift shop:

Back out in the lobby.

We started heading towards Boatwright's for our dinner. These are random pictures Mike took.

We checked in at Boatwright's and then waited to be called to be seated. These are in the lobby/waiting area and then into the restaurant. We were seated in the furthest corner of the dining room.

The menu & our basket of cornbread w/honey butter.

Our delicious dinner:

Turbodog BBQ Ribs:

Kid's Gluten-Free Spaghetti & fries:

Kid's Cheeseburger & fries:

Boatwright's Jambalaya:

Super good dinner......leave time for this meal as it isn't a quick meal but well worth it!! Zero complaints on the food or the service!!

Desserts!!!

Chocolate Ice Cream:

Banana's Foster Angel Food Cake:

Gluten-Free Version of the above (no cake):

Creme Brulee:

Red Velvet Cheesecake:

After dinner, we took the bus to Downtown Disney (Disney Springs) and then caught the bus back to Pop Century.

August 14, 2015

Today was our 2nd Magic Kingdom day. We decided to sleep in and start out later in hopes Shy would do better today. We were going to have a late night.....so sleeping in & chilling in the morning was important. We actually slept until 9:30 or later which was great!! The kids bathed while I went and did a couple loads of laundry, snacked on things for our "breakfast" and then ate an actual meal/lunch at Everything Pop Food Court. Here are the lunch photos.

The King Cupcake: Chocolate Cake, Banana Filling, Peanut Butter Frosting & Candied Bacon on the top.

A little of the food court area.....looking more upwards.

We finally headed to the Magic Kingdom around 1:45pm.

Going down Main Street.

We saw Marie from the Aristocats but didn't stop and join the long line.

Cinderella's Castle.

We passed the paddleboat on our way to our first FP+ selection of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

My favorite ride at Disneyland is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.....so was excited to ride today!! I already kinda knew Jasmin wouldn't be a fan (she doesn't like any of the rides you go fast on) but the deal was she had to try it once before deciding. So we checked in for our FP+ time and was then sent down to the wheelchair line (which is the exit for the ride). There is no shade but I went under the rope with Shy to get her in the shade while Mike took pictures.

Almost our turn!!!

Mike actually got these on the ride.

After our fun ride, a few more pics.

As we figured, Jas was not a fan of this ride...........

A couple more pics as we headed towards the Haunted Mansion.

As we continued toward the Haunted Mansion.

We were taken through the wheelchair entrance. Nice & shaded as we waited to be escorted to the stretching room.

As soon as people started screaming, Jasmin was done. Mike talked her into continuing as it is all fake and people always scream during that part. She reluctantly continued on to the ride vehicles. Mike got a couple pictures on the ride, but spent a lot of time holding onto Jasmin and keeping her calm.

We took a couple photopass pictures after we exited the attraction.

That was a hard one for Jasmin. She was in tears the entire ride and it took us a bit to calm her down after. You just never know until you try........

We decided to go over to the Colombia Harbour House to get cold drinks. We were shown to an area that they had roped off for people with wheelchairs. I thought that was pretty nice to do that, but other people went ahead and came in anyways.....well because they were entitled and so they ignored the rope & wheelchair placard on it and then sat in spots making it hard for people to get back out. Well I guess it was a nice idea.........

After cooling down, we headed over towards the nicest restroom area in the parks.......the Tangled area. Derek took lots of pictures as we ran all the kids into the restrooms.

Nice update!! You got some great pics of the animals and love the lions on the rock. Those always make some great pics! That is a bummer that Jasmin was afraid of the rides but I guess it is to be expected since she is still new to the whole thing.

As for us we are getting closer and closer. We now have our airfare bought which was a big relief. I know mom would have liked to have waited a bit longer but we found what I think was the best price we were going to get on Southwest so we had to jump on it. We have never flown them to Orlando (flew Delta, American and Continental) so hopefully all goes well esp since we have a VERY short layover in Dallas!

I have all my ADRS booked and am hoping that we can either get one for skipper canteen or can at least do walkup. The next thing on our list is buying our tickets probably in end of March beginning of April so that we can then make our FP beginning of May. Mom is prob going to get an AP because we will then get free parking we can buy the TIW card and get 20% off our dinning and she gets unlimited free photopass downloads so we won't need to buy memorymaker. So it seems like a good deal.

Getting really excited and love seeing all your pics which gets me even MORE excited!!

Oh and loved seeing Boatwrights and Port Orleans. We have talked about staying there and I haven't been to that one yet so was nice to see it!

Back in 2013, the lions were snoozing, so we were thrilled to see the male lion awake!!

Southwest is what we've flown both times we went to WDW. We've done a short layover with them before and it worked out fine, but the later you go in the day, the more chances of problems, delays & such happening. So hopefully, you're going early enough to avoid those things. I got Mike's & my tickets for the Feburary trip for $69 each way......that's the cheapest I've ever gotten it for!!! Plus I used my points to cover my round trip......so 2 round trip tickets for $138!! I was a happy camper!!

The Skipper Canteen is pretty new isn't it? I haven't heard much about it yet....so will be curious to see what it's about and if you get in! The AP's are crazy in price now.....I used to get one for the girls trip for the discounts but there's no way I could begin to cover what I'd spend on the pass. Kinda a bummer! Hope that works out for you guys!

Yea we are taking like the 2nd flight of the day out of Sac which is like 6:30. We get in to Dallas and have less than an hour layover. That scares me because if there are any flight delays or trouble getting from one gate to the next (esp my mom is slow) you could miss your connection. But hoping it all works out and we are good to go. I HAVE flown them back east. We took them to Baltimore the year we went to DC and going was fine but coming home they screwed us up because there were delays and we didn't get on our outbound till really late. We begged southwest to switch our flight in Phoenix because there were like 20 of us with connecting flights but they refused. So we got on and flew over 5 hours and by the time we landed they were holding the next plane. We had to go a LONG way to get to our plane, couldn't use the bathroom much less eat, had to RUN and they were holding the plane. We did the boarding passes and were in A group but of course by then all that was left was center seats and the girls were like 7 and 8 and they made us all sit apart. I was livid. Shelby had to sit between 2 men in the very front row and then Shane and I were in the middle and Katy all the way in the back. I thought it was really tacky on the part of Southwest AND the other passengers not to have someone move so we could sit with our kids. It was not like we were late it was the airline. So hoping we don't have any problems.

Anyway that is awesome about your fare for Feb. I can't remember the last time we got that cheap and we are closer than you. We still have our credits from Jet Blue from our cancelled trip in Oct so we may try to do a real short 3 day trip in August after school starts. We will have just gone to DW in June but I hate for my mom to lose the credit. As it was we lost over 200 of it already because Jet Blue charges you to change which is a ripoff.

As for the AP's you are right. I haven't had one in awhile but for DW it is worth the difference in price. It would cost us 300 something for a 6 day ticket and for the difference on the AP we make up for it for what we save on parking fees, dinning discounts and the Memory Maker. If it wasn't close we wouldn't do it. But for DL it is no longer worth it esp since we don't usually go more than once a year anymore.

You can ask the airlines to have a wheelchair at the plane to help your mom get to the next gate. Just ask at the airlines desk at your gate before you get on your plane for the flight. That would help if the connecting gate is too far away.

The AP I first got for $399 is now over a thousand dollars......it's absolutely ridiculous!! I won't be purchasing one even if we had a 2nd trip planned in a years time. I still don't think I'd get our monies worth out of it. I guess they're trying to cut down on the AP's??? Did they over price the locals AP's??

We headed to the Country Bear Jamboree......I sure miss this at Disneyland.

We were seated in the theater and the show begins!!

Yea I am thinking about that. I am not sure if they will know what gate we will be at in Dallas till we get closer. I know that has happened in the past. But I am def going to ask the flight attendants while we are on the plane to have one waiting just in case. We have only 45 mins so it is tight!

I know what you mean about AP's. We got our first ones in 2006 and they were like 200 pp for Deluxes. We got them for the whole family a few years in a row then I just got one for the discounts and I even did a premium I think one time but then went back to a deluxe and only because I could do the payment plan. But now forget it. Like you we just don't go enough. I have a Disney Visa and I get some discounts with that but I agree unless you can justify the expense not worth it. For DW though it works out about the same and so it was worth it for us but I don't know if I will ever get a DL one again. :(

cute update. I sometimes miss the country bears as well although the girls are at an age I don't know if they would go to that or not. I think it is neat that DW has some of these old things and prob because they have so much more room. I know when i go to DW I always miss stuff from DL but I don't really miss the DW stuff. I do miss just the vacation part of the trip in that it is so much more of a resort vacay when you go to Florida but DL to me will always be home. That is why I am glad we may get to take a few days at the end of summer because if I had gone to DW and then not back to DL for a long time I would def miss it. It seems every time I go to DW I really miss the DL stuff and can't wait to get back and most of the trips we have taken we took one to DL not long after so here is hoping. :)

Disneyland will always be home, so when things you grew up with or a favorite attraction goes away, it seems to hurt more. Not enough space to add on, so unfortunately, their only option is to close things down.

Speaking of things shut down.....are you planning on going to Hollywood Studios?? There's hardly anything left open. Unless you have parkhoppers, I'm not sure I'd even bother going. What a mess that place is. They should just shut down the whole thing until they have it put back together. :( They removed the documentary film at the end of One Man's Dream to use it to promote their newest film.....ugh.....what a slap in the face of Walt & his legacy.
