WestJet MasterCard, booking with 2 vouchers

We're trying to book tickets to Anaheim for a family of 5 using my husband's as well as my WestJet MasterCard. We each have quite a bit of points but also want to use one companion voucher each. Is there a way to book everything at once, or will we need to book twice.? I'm wondering if we book the first three tickets on my MasterCard using points and companion voucher then do a second transaction with my husband's MasterCard using points and companion voucher the last two digits if we might end up not being able to get tickets on the same flight if it sells out or maybe the price will go up for the second transaction. Does this make sense? Any tips?

You can do it in one call but on separate reservations. You just need to tell the phone agent what you want to do and they will take care of it. They are used to couples each have their own RBC cards and use 2 vouchers to bring kids.

As of space availability, use online search before you call. If there are enough spaces for the entire family at your price point then there is no concern the agent will not be able to get those seats. Sometimes the website will say 2 seats left at this price then you know there wouldn’t be enough even if you call in.

I think the odds of not booking the same flight with two different cards is minimal unless WJ shows “5 seats left at this price” or similar.

With that said, your best option is probably to log in using two different browsers. For example, chrome and Firefox, or chrome on two different computers (preferably right beside one another) Select your 3 tickets on one, then two on the other.

We just did a similar thing. What I don't like about this is that you actually end up with 3 reservations. The bad thing is that the single person on the 3rd reservation does not get to take advantage of the free luggage that is offered to those being on a reservation with one of the primary card holders.

This is something the WJ agent can edit on the phone call when you book. It happened in my situation last Dec, and I the agent and I discussed it. I didn’t want to pay the extra for luggage because of a WJ booking limitation that’s no fault of my own!

We have done this several times. And each time it seems to take Westjet a little less time to accomplish the task, lol. Family of 5, 2 adults with the card/vouchers and points, 3 kids. It had to be 3 reservations - 1 adult with 1 companion child, 2nd adult with companion child, and third child on their own. MAKE SURE THEY LINK THE RESERVATIONS so that third child (if minor) isn't sitting alone. We have never paid for baggage fees, all are considered linked with the card on the reservation to pay for the taxes at least. If there are not 5 seats at the same price still listed, the agent will usually make sure that one of the "companion voucher" ones is the more expensive one, as it wouldn't increase in cost as it's the voucher cost and that's that (taxes might be a few dollars more, usually not). As long as there are SEATS left, you are good to go. It's all in one phonecall. I've never done it online and wouldn't want to, the methods of payment - basically I had to give my mastercard # 5 times, it gets annoying but in the end you have saved $$.

Nope,, the third still does, as long as it is book with one of the MC and they are there for check in....never had an issue.

I would still be prepared for the worst case scenario, just in case. When I was booking with the agent on the phone, I asked this of her specifically and she said the person on the third reservation would be required to pay baggage fees. Their official policy also states "Valid for primary cardholders of the WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard and up to eight (8) additional guests travelling on the same reservation".

However, having said that, I have also experienced it at the gate where they waived the fee for the 3rd reservation - so I agree, it does happen.

I hear ya..i havent had to do it. But i would argue right to the top that it is the same res because they dont let you book more people when booking a companion. Just like i did tell them that if they did not put us together becaise it was different i would feel sorry for the people sitting next to my 3ry old all alone because we were sitting in another row. Guess what we all sat together.
