Westjet check in snafu

Has anyone else had a message from Westjet saying, cannot do online check because fees are owed? In fact WJ changed one of our flights about 4 months ago. The new flight was $100 cheaper but we didn’t receive any refund? Can’t call them, the voice loop eventually just disconnects.
 
Yes, just happened to us. Don't call them - use the callback feature on the website to set up a time. I learned this the hard way as I was on hold for an hour dialing in but decided to try the callback instead.

Anyway as I understand it, in our situation WJ was trying to apply some sort of fee to our seats (we had prepurchased) but because we were travelling as a family and cannot be split up those fees are not applicable, yet were not removed.
 
We were 2.5hrs in line at WJ check in. We asked at WJ person to please rush us thru. Then there was an hour delay at the boarding gate. Then a half hour delay while we were on the plane. No ground crew. A great flight to Vancouver anyway.

I'm flying out in 3 weeks, this terrifies me lol. Hopefully a YVR - SNA short flight will be OK

Oy. Well, this is why I have just changed my flight down to Orlando to the day before originally planned but leaves me with 7 hours between connections instead of 1.5 hours. I'll be working remotely during those 7 hours so just one more hour to find (lol). Plus if I miss that, I wasn't really planning on being at MK until the next day at 8pm so as long as I arrive at MK prior to that, I'm good lol.
 
As I mentioned, if you have an issue with the online check-in, schedule a callback.

Press the button and the callback request screen should show up.
 
I had this same problem and it had to do with seat fees. When I called the number I got through quickly but this was a couple months ago. They sorted it out and the I was able to do my online check in.
 
Westjet actually owed us seat fees from a forced flight change. When we arrived back in Vancouver after the cruise we still couldn't do on line check in but there was no line up at YVR and the clerk was so helpful. We arrived so early expecting a delay that we were able to grab an earlier flight back to TO. The clerk at che k in was so kind and helpful. They still own us $200 though for the original flight change seat fees.
