Westhaven in Davenport????

In past years we have rented homes in Emerald Island and had great experiences. This year (December 16-23) we are planning on visiting Busch gardens and Universal and want to get a home in the Davenport area. I have 2 homes in the Westhaven Abbey and Sanctuary developments. Has any one stayed in this area? How do the homes compare to Emerald Island? Are there decent restaurants and grocery shopping in this area?

We stayed in the Hampton Lakes development in Davenport. The are itself was nice. I thought just as nice as Emerald Island (which we've stayed at too).

It had a nice handful of stores. I specifically used the Publix and Walgreen's a lot. Each were in opposite directions about 3 minutes from our villa.

There weren't a lot of restuarants in the immediate area that I remember. If there were they were off the main hwy there.

I can't help you with Davenport, but FWIW, we drove to Universal on 5 days and Sea World on 1 day from Emerald Island on our last trip and it never seemed to take long at all.

I also looked at Santuary homes for our upcoming May trip, many of which were lovely, but we are going back to Emerald Island after all.

I found the drive to Universal from the Davenport area to be about 35-45 minutes. It wasn't a fast one to say the least. However, I'm assuming this location is going to work well because it will be about the same distance then to Busch Gardens.
