I posted about how I had booked my vacation to disney thru westgate and they gave me the rate of $169 for 4 days/3 nights. Well I first called and they took my cc number and promised no charge till Thursday. I called wednesday to tell them to charge the card, as the money was now available and they did and booked me a package. I WAS PROMISED by a guy named Joseph I would NOT be double-charged for the 2nd package I had previously booked. Well yesterday a woman calls and tells me they've pre-authorized my cc and I can set my vacation up. I tell her I already have and to please cancel that charge, there's no money available for it. She tells me she's voided it but guess what, she lied? I called my cc and they tell me my acct is now negative because I've been charged twice. I call westgate and after 5 attempts of transferring me to someone who can help, I finally talk to a guy who sees what happens and tells me they'll have to fax the authorization to cancel the 2nd transaction. WHY DON'T I BELIEVE THIS? I faxed my bank to tell them this was not authorized and hopefully recover the funds back. This is fraud! They were told not to charge my cc twice and they did and lied about voiding it. Anyone else ever had this happen? Thanks.

Wastegate (should be the name) is one of the worst organizations in any business anywhere. No surprise that they "messed up" - they look to take money anyway and anytime they can. If this is all you give them you are lucky. Heaven help you should you actually attend a presentation (you may have to for getting your "deal" - so be prepared!) and worse yet buy at the inflated retail prices they charge- NEVER, EVER buy from Wastegate at retail and think very carefully before buying resale as there are far better resorts that don't use the sleazy tactics of this group.

Get it fixed and have them charge Wastegate for any fees you have incurred. Good luck.

I avoid dealing with Westgate whenever possible.

I used to book them regularly and really didn't have any major issues with them, but last January I had a client go to check in and RCI hadn't transferred the rez. to the property (so they said) so when I got on the phone with the manager he was one of the most rude and unprofessional people I've ever dealt with. He got very nasty with my clients. I got RCI on the phone and everything was straightened out fairly quickly, but it left me (and my client) with a very negative view of the resort.

I've only booked 1 client into there since that time, everything went smooth, they loved it and had no problems, but I always avoid dealing with them if at all possible.

There are many other nice properties in the Orlando area.

the update is they're telling me they have voided my 2nd package and it will take 3-10 days for my account to be credited back. If I go through my bank acct and do it I will be charged $60 to overnight a new atm card(essential for disney and money access). Also, no garauntee WHEN the money would be credited back but I know from that it would at least. I think I should wait, as then I won't lose the fees, but are they honorable enough to return my money? I NEEDED this $169 for disney world.

I have always heard negative things about Westgate, esp. if you sit through their presentation (they are like sharks!)

My friend's BIL worked for one for a while and got them a FREE week and still they were hounded everytime they walked on the property with their reps trying to get them to come to a presentation.

I wouldn't stay there if I didn't have to.

they will return it - but don't expect it anytime soon.

when you are there - demand your money. bring everything with you - because Westgate is not above charging you twice for everything.

all your documents that show they have charged you twice for the same reservations.

Wish I could offer better advice - but I really, really dislike them and I own there.

so sorry.

the only people they treat worst are the owners.

call your bank and ask that they reversal the transaction to Westgate - show them you paided and Westgate HAS NOT returned your money.

the bank has ways of getting it returned.

have a problem similar with Disney. they did not credit me back in act they took charge the credit card again.

my bank was very helpfully in getting Disney to realize the problem was on their end - not the banks or me.

Disney had a major computer problem - took the guy several days (might have been weeks to discover it) - on the night the computer was surpose to do my credit - it reversed every entry made that day. but the accounting was not showing this -in fact, the accounting looked like it was surpose too.

Disney was really surprised that those other people were not complaining too.

they had to send an apologize letter and credit - credit cards and in some cases bank accounts.

I was told computer error - not in my book - that is someone got fired and left a snake......
